20k is history.  I don't think we will ever see anywhere near 29k again.  My hopes would be $500k by the end of 2029.

It has been a very long long night.   I have seen spikes of near 65GH/s with the following start command and replacing of the Power with a bigger brick.   That was a snap shot of about 10 minutes running.

Command Line Args:

I wouldn't recommend this for others just yet.  Also if anyone knows a better one to reach what was promised please let me know but for now this is stable.  I will attempt to post video's and Picture's tomorrow to show what lengths I had to go through to get this to work.  Granted the base components are 1x120mm Fan, 1 Gridseed Power Connector, 1 "Cincinnati Tool CO." C-Clamp, and the corner of my table for now.  I am hoping to find some components tomorrow to redesign the bottom half of the case tomorrow.  Yes this is where I believe the entire problem is.  But like I said I will dig a bit more tomorrow.

Also if Bitmain has anymore then just coupon's that I can't use to give me, please let me know.  (I don't spend BTC for mining equipment...  USD ONLY....) to add please do?  Also added name here to name there.  I got 1 from minersource.net.  You will see what I want to order in my cart.

Just a preliminary post, "BUT" I may know why these things aren't hashing correctly and I don't think it has anything to do with the chips or power.

I also bought one from Minersource.net.   I can only get mine to hash at like 2-12GH/s and it is very very unstable at best.   I was probably the first one to speak to your support guy on the number from my S3.   He remoted in and was able to find a few freq's that worked but nothing was stable at all.   So basically it is a pretty paper weight.....   I was so looking forward to these too....

Ok so I have attempted to give the unit a better Power Supply with not much more luck.

Sometimes it hashes around the same usual 6-12GH/s then fails or just flat out fails.   When it attempts to reload the miner in cgminer this is what I get:

Well I attempted your settings and it tried to mine fast but HW Error's none stop so I am thinking it is due to the power brick this thing came with.    Any idea's if the gridseed power connector's would be the same?   Otherwise I am headed to Fry's to build one lol.

Thanks trying this now.   I will post what I find as I can add it to a Dell 750 that I have running from minersource.net.   I also got my U3 from there as well.

I just had to factory reset mine and did it by using a paper clip in the hole next to the 2 LEDs for Power and Mining (If looking at it eye level then the whole should be on the right).   I noticed on mine the button was very low in the hole and took some maneuvering to push.  So please look carefully for the button as on mine it was Grey.

Any updates to how to find the firmware version?   I keep getting 1+ Chips that fall offline and want to check firmware before pulling the machine apart for new Thermal Paste.

Again tried a lower Freq which seemed to let the miner hash for longer but it still just shut off with the same Zombie errors.

Hoping this is an issue with the software and not a bad miner.....

So after playing with it a bit more I went for this command line which seems to be stable but still not hashing correctly.  "cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:10 -o nl2.stratum.io:3333 -u magicstix.mainpc -p x --bmsc-freq 0882"

When it does stay stable for 5+ mins (Which is random at this point in my eyes) cgminer reported 3GH/s and Ghash.io Reported 8.03GH/s.   So I would trust the pools report at this point with those command settings.

Ok so after spending some time on the phone with someone in support from bitmain.   It is at the very least hashing.  I wouldn't say correctly, but hashing.   (Corrected as I typed it....)  Now it is Zombie again....

So has anyone actually gotten theirs to work at the right speed?

Also is anyone using a Raspberry Pi to do this as I want to move it to a Raspberry Pi which makes more sense power wise?


Steps used in getting the U3 to somewhat work:

1.  Installed Zadig WinUSB Driver Version 6.1.7600.16385    [WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385)]
2.  Downloaded CgMiner Directly from Bitmain Support Site   "https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201404130633105772QFG6R2u0635"
3.  Ran THAT CGMINER with this command line:   cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:10 -o nl2.stratum.io:3333 -u magicstix.mainpc -p x --bmsc-freq 0982     (This is where I wonder if the Voltage Arg is required or not?)


After this is would run for a bit then CGMiner would report libusb errors or -9 and also eventually zombie out.

Any help here?
