I found two new API interfaces to 1Broker which provides Forex and CFD trading with bitcoin. They offer a great service. The API languages supported are R and Python.

Version 2 of the API will Be The Only API supported on January 9th. Here are Two new Ones designed just for 1Broker

With 1Broker moving to their new API on January 9th, all users must use v2 from that point forward. I found these interfaces which are both in Python and R.

The node scanner at p2pool.co is back up and working at http://p2pool.co. It was down for a little while.  Please try it out.  Feedback is always welcome.
On this node scanner always limited node list. You must manually add them?
Why not add all nodes with http://poolnode.info/?
I always see way more nodes with poolnode.info while I usually only see a few on p2pool.co, but I am not really sure why.

Thanks for the feedback.  Is there a programmatic way to get the IPs of all the current p2pool nodes?  I could use that to have the site automatically update.

Thanks for the update.  I have updated http://p2pool.co to give a score of zero for those running version 15.  It is usually as simple as emailing the owner of such sites to let them know of an issue.  With that said, has anyone reached out to elizium.name or cammello.agaland.it?

Organofcorti, great work that you do here - thanks for all the reports.

On page 1 where you list the p2pool proxy mining pools the last two are down: p2poolserver.com and thash.pl.  Also, where you provide a source for p2pool nodes there is also nodes.p2pool.co.  Could that be added?

Lastly, what exactly is a p2pool proxy server - is that just p2pool merged mining?

I did a pool restart last night.
No pool problems, just added a message to the coinbase regarding my brother who passed away a few hours before that.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.  That is one nice way to memorialize him.

Haas offers an API to Virtex however that exchange does not offer withdrawals or support of any kind.  haas should not offer access to such a scam site that steals bitcoins.  Haas is endorsing it by even offering a connection to it.  Has anyone else had trouble Virtex?

Whats the problem with virtex? I have personally used it for testing when we first supported them, perhaps you can send us a link and we can check in with them about any possible issues?

They are not releasing withdrawals in anyway (BTC, LTC, or Paypal).  And their support pages are down.  This has been for over 24 hours.  Screenshots of the issues:

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!

Ok, tomorrow morning I will send a message to the contacts I have at Virtex and see whats going on. I will keep you posted.

Phillis, thanks for your help on this.  It has been a week and Virtex still does not support withdrawals and does not have a support page.  It is an obvious scam and Haas should not be supporting such an exchange.  Did you hear back from them?

Has Haas stopped supporting their API so other future Haas customers do not got robbed of their bitcoin from Virtex?

Thanks

Don't think of it as competing with miners on the same node, you are completing (and collaborating) with the whole pool.

Also, node efficiency is a poor indicator on any node with more then 1 miner. A single miner with a high latency can bring node efficiency way down, while your miners may be mining very efficiently.

Look at your latency to the node, the node getBlockTemplate latency, and your stale/DOA shares to get a feel for your particular efficiency...

After a few days of mining you can look up your miner in our "active miners" list for p2pool. That estimated hashrate, if higher then expected, means you are mining efficiently/currently lucky. If it is lower then expected you are mining inefficiently or in a streak of bad luck. (this only works after you have been mining for the length of the share chain, i.e. 3 days)

http://minefast.coincadence.com/p2pool-stats.php

Thanks Windpath.  Is node efficiency with perfect miners (the stat) a good indication of the quality of the node?  I agree just plain node efficiency can be skewed by individual miners.

Hey all,

I've been mining on a pool, and there have only been two other addresses mining.  In the last 24 hours, though something strange has happened.

One address that had been mining at 2.3TH/s suddenly went to 98 TH/s, and the overall pool hashing didn't go up significantly... which may be ok, although, I have to say it was pretty dramatic.

Other than concern for the sudden change in hash, and whether something could be suspicious, will having a whale on this particular node keep the other two miners from gaining shares?

Would it make more sense for me to seek out another node?

S

Sorry, I wrote GH/s.. I meant TH/s

As long as the nodes effeciency is the same as before, i would not think extra hasing power on that node would matter.

They got me to and will not allow any withdrawals.  It is criminal.

Has anyone else had any luck getting their coins back?  Or know how to contact them?

What can the community do to stop this from happening to others?

Well when recoding p2pool, It would be Nice to solve the "payload too long" issue as well.

Does somebody know how to deal with this?  Huh

Please check this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.msg10164796#msg10164796

 Roll Eyes

So doing some digging, the "payload too long" error comes about when a packet's length is greater than max_payload_length.  This can be seen in p2pool/util/p2protocol.py.

This is called from p2pool/bitcoin/p2p.py and p2pool/p2p.py where it sets max_payload_length to 1,000,000.

I am going to change the code to print out the packet size, as well as, change the max_payload_length to twice the size.  I will let the code run for awhile and see what happens and report back.

If I'm correct the 'maxblocksize' is hardcoded to 1MB into the Bitcoin protocol. So I guess changing the payload length does do the trick within P2Pool code (until the blocksize will be increased). Well it is still unclear to me what part of the code you have changed. Logically it had to do with Bitcoin Core which is responsible for "packaging" the block and verify the hash of it. It would be awesome if you still could update us with news. I've also updated my Bitcoin Core and I'm waiting for a long blocktime with lots of transactions to debug my new setup. So, I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks!

Yes, the block should not be coming into p2pool over 1,000,000 or perhaps it is sometimes coming in with a size of 1,024,000 (another meaning of MB).  Or perhaps p2pool or bitcoind is somehow corrupting it at certain times which is causing this issue.  We'll see and my logging should let us know a little better what is happening.

I am running two p2pool servers.  One crashed and one didn't (they usually crash at roughly the same time over this payload issue).  One node however had increased max_payload_length.

In the logs it states:

Quote
p2pool.log:2015-01-24 13:55:07.867204 PAYLOAD sharereply 1088513
p2pool.log:2015-01-24 13:55:27.520303 PAYLOAD sharereply 1080454

The number represents the size of the payload which is over 1,000,000 and would of crashed my node.  So by changing maxpayload in the p2p.py files I resolved this issue (for now).

The lines I changed are in p2p.py
Quote
        p2protocol.Protocol.__init__(self, node.net.PREFIX, 2000000, node.traffic_happened)
and bitcoin/p2p.py
Quote
        p2protocol.Protocol.__init__(self, net.P2P_PREFIX, 2000000, ignore_trailing_payload=True)

Hi, I could not get v2.0 working properly but I am using v1.4 successfully and it is working well.

Quick question, how often does the arbitrage bots refresh?  Any is there anyway to change that to make it quicker?  Thanks

I would like to get per minute close price data on bitfinex for btc/usd for the life of the exchange.  Can anyone help point me in the right direction to get this data?  Thanks.

The best I found about it is the full trades file from bitcoincharts, you get that and resample it to the time frame you want.

Bfxdata doesn't provide an actual data feed but metrics on those.

So on bitcoincharts, I would go to each day and download the minute data and then consolidate.  Thanks for the suggestion - it may take a long time (since they don't let you download to large of a batch at once) but it is a solution!  Smiley
