The coin is not abandoned, but there was a falling out in the Flying V about a month ago. One of the main Mother Ducks decided to fly south for a couple of extended vacations since the coin launched, he abandoned his ducklings and his duties.

A group of volunteers is still working on this coin part time.
 
Everyone who keeps crying scam can quack off We spent about 20 BTC buying duck from miners and investors at cryptorush and c-cex already, and we spent 30-40 btc on building services and marketing for this coin.

This latest round of problems has been caused by DuckDuckCoin being upgraded to QT5 for the mac build in February, which has caused conflicts for the developers to build the linux and pc builds since the hard fork.

Finally, there was no promises that DUCK was going to to the moon, yes it was the intention of everyone involved to do as much as we could to make it work, but it hasn't worked the way we would like. If course we would all like bitcoin to be at $2000 right now as well.

We are all speculators and know the risks of getting involved with cryptocurrencies. We tried a lot, we worked hard, it didn't work out the way we wanted.

Duck actually has innovated faster than most coins out there... it's been used kind of as a test bed. We have talented people working on this coin - but unfortunately, the trading community didn't bite.

We still have a lot of DuckDuckCoin and a lot of talented people associated with this coin. We have resources, but here's what we need for this coin to work:

1) Community
2) Traders

If Duck only has a community of people ragging on the coin, and doesn't have an active traders group backing it ... well then it's going to be tough for the developers to prioritize DUCK since there's not much reward for them.

If people want to self-organize and take over the DuckDuckFoundation, we have backing and duck to give.

This coin was supposed to be a fun experiment in creating a fun community of people who could grab onto something that was silly and light hearted like Dogecoin... something people could joke around with ... it was a self deprecating light hearted experiment... if you were late to the Doge party, you could join the Duck party.

That can still happen, but we need some self-organization.

It looks like the coin was forked about 8000 blocks ago, and Scryptominers is the only one on the proper fork...they were about 80% of the network for a while, they had a chain that was about 1500 blocks ahead of everyone else...

It doesn't look malicious, just looks like some pockets of network connectivity issues.

There's not much we can do about this...this is what happens when there's not a lot of hashpower on a coin.

Anyone have any suggestions?

UPDATE March 4: Mac & Linux Wallets Released, Genesis Egg Topped Up

Do you remember those investments that we made ~last week? Ducks have a 360 degree vision, and even better hindsight. 48 BTC was sent to bitcoinbuilder.com to get about 90 MtGox bitoins to do EVEN MOAR market support. The goal noble, we wanted to increase the Genesis Egg Funds.

What actually happened though was that it severely decreased IPO funds, as we all know last week mtgox was tarred & feathered. Operation MaxCoin was a success, Operation PandaCoin was not as the developers dumped all of their coins on the IPO investors, so those trades cancelled each other out.

Before you ruffle your feathers, check the Exoducks address, we've since replaced the goxxed Genesis Egg with BTC from personal wallets, all of which will be used to provide liquidity at the exchanges & pay for bounties.

The Mac & Linux wallets are built and working, they will be posted soon.

Regarding all the ruffled feathers about Mining-Road being an official pool. Oak Road was the "preferred pool" on launch. It is understandable that ducks of very little brain get confused about roads. Too often ducks and roads do not mix well.

Ducks of a feather flock together right? We felt bad for anyone who got burned by Mining Road ... so we waddled through the thread and found an interesting breadcrumb.

Lee - I am not sure what your problem is? It's consistently the same post, the same trolling, the same puns? Do you love bashing and trolling on each new coin? Here are the answers to your question - sorry that we couldn't deal with your 'questions' SO URGENTLY while making sure we get our genesis block back, pay contributors, fix pools, and do everything else to help the community push this coin. So here we go:

A1) There were 2 pools working prior to launch. Wallets were posted on IRC channel prior to launch. The nodes looked to be working until a few minutes after launch when most people were on the 2 working pools. And others were complaining. At the same time the wallets did not get a chance to post on the primary website due to unknown circumstances. (what happened to premine as it was a fair launch.) As I witnessed.  6 pools were effectively working 2-3 hours after launch. And wallet was working throughout.


A2) He volunteered and it was a quick and easy solution, faster than getting everyone involved

A3) He sent us all except the .5, he only sent us the remainder. That was way cheaper than the initial proposal of XX bitcoins.

A4) We're just using the "sendtoaddress" command to send coins. We can't send 0.1 and 0.2 to the same person in the same transaction using "sendmany". Some contributors sent SEVERAL transactions to contribute to the DUCK launch. So now, we're stuck having to pay individually to make sure nothing gets messed up in payouts, in order to ensure those who sent 2+ contributions will get DUCK.

Blitz make sure you use the installer. Otherwise the config file does not go into the right %AppData% dir.

Per users on IRC:

add nodes to a new duckduckcoin.conf in the AppData\Roaming\Duckduckcoin folder
look in the folder you unzipped the package from and find DuckDuckCoin.conf
That file needs to go into %appdata%\DuckDuckCoin.
then restart DuckDuckCoin-QT

this is the problem, if you dont have the folder duckduckcoin in AppData...
becuase you didn't install the QT before try to launch it

Those 4 other transquacktions were pre-arranged ... we were expecting them to come in, the big one for ~9 btc was from someone who was investing on behalf of a group of investors - he sent me a screenshot of his client, the wallet they were on was behind and had to sync 2 months of blockchain.

The other ~3 btc was from someone who had already invested earlier, but a similar situation he tried getting more in but he had to send from his Cryptsy wallet and there was issues waiting for the transaction to go through from Cryptsy.

The other 2 were similar, we gave them a pass because we had not launched the client yet and they had full intentions of paying before 9 PM EST, but they had logistical issues come up.
