Re: Bitcoin legitimate or illegal?
by
mainpmf
on 31/10/2017, 11:28:30 UTC
I don't like much those threads usually, with a one line question leading to poor answers most of the time...

But here the question is interesting in its contruction and raises what's the main strength of btc that lots of old people can't understand!
You're asking if btc is legitimate or illegal. So you state that legitimate is more or less the contrary of illegal. But fact is that LEGAL and LEGITIMATE are different words for a reason ^^
Something can be illegal AND legitimate and that's mainly what bitcoin is! Or at least what the use of btc as a currency is.

Tons of governments are trying to ban btc as a currency and it is seldom recognized as a "real" currency. But fact is that a currency gains its legitimicy not from laws or rules, but from the use people make of and the trust they have in it.
A dollar in itself is nothing! It represents nothing and doesn't have any meaning. But people accept a dollar because they KNOW other people will also accept dollars and give them roughly the same value. Which is a dollar.

BTC si the same, governments and rules and laws can say wahtever they want but people accept a bitcoin because they know other people will accept the bitcoin and will give them, normally, roughly the same value. And most of them excpect in fact that once they'll try to give their btc for something else (currency, objects...) the value will have rise in fact xD

That's my 2cents on the subject, which is not as easy as it seems

You know, something pretty funny happened and I wanna share that.

Something like 5 months ago, I got a serious accident leading to months of hospitalization (that's not the funny part). After few months of reeducation and re insertion in normal life, I came back on the forum just to see. And I oppened my bitcoin wallets, just to see too.
When I last seen the price, it was around 2000$/2500$
And now I get back out of the hospital, after doing NOTHING in months, and I never earn so much money in bitcoin. I have about 2 btc so in those 5 months I earned 5000$; I never managed to do that before in btc. I'm a poor trader, gambling means losing...

Moral of the story: don't do anything, just wait and earn money.

Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented
by

on 11/07/2017, 15:37:34 UTC
Ok I have to admit I find it VERY CLEVER this chip system of yours.

The mixer in itself if classic. Of course the full control mix is cool but not soooo innovative.
But the chip system means that the payment in itself is completely anonymous and doesn't depends only on the amount to be mixed.

Anyway next time I have a btc to mix I know how I will do it ^^

The good point is of course the cost of the operation which isn't really high as it's of goodwill xD

but the system might be a bit.... Complicated. Let's see how people manage to use it ^^

Re: Is the current price drop considered a normal phenomenon?
by
mainpmf
on 29/06/2017, 15:16:17 UTC
I would say it is completely normal for a FREE MARKET. Such markets are rare. The NYSE, for example has many many controls and levers that can be used to control the market and minimize swings. Nothing like that exists in bitcoin. The price fluctuations you see were present in stock markets of the 19th. century, but they are not allowed anymore and the markets will just be shut down if it crashes hard.

As long as we have a bitcoin economy based on speculation then this will be what it looks like. If we move to an exchange economy based on retail then we should assume more stability.

Well... It's completely normal on a FREE MARKET but only because the surroundings of this market are uncertain.
Otherwise there is no reason for the price to go up and down in a too wide range (the question would of course be "what is a too wide range" because that's completely subjective but you more or less understood me anyway)

I'd say the main reason for those up and downs is the fight between:
-People afraid of the fork and the potential future of btc. They wanna leave the boat cause they're not sure it'll continue floatting.
-People taken by FOMO seeing the small dumps as opportunities to get back on the boat.

What's happening exactly?
Is there some black hat hacker who sold his scrypt for ransomware?

I see attacks of such softwares pretty much everywhere on the planet in the last months.
It's like the new fashion trend. A company not attacked by a ransomware is not in xD

Guys stop clicking on random links on your mail and that'll be all!

Re: Venezuela future dictatorship
by
mainpmf
on 04/06/2017, 18:14:34 UTC
Venezuela has always been a dictatorship country, Hugo Chavez rigged the elections ans thats how he stayed in Power, the current president couldn't do that and now he doesnt want to step down. Which is quite shameful.

Yeah sure.
More bullshit please?
Chavez simply got rid of the parasites of the USA
He managed to redistribute an incredible amount of the production to the people.
He managed to fight back poverty so efficiently USA had to actually put world propaganda to make people think Venezuela was a horrible country.

Don't believe me? Check the poverty rate in Venezuela before and after Chavez...

He wasn't a god or a perfect man. Corruption and personnal interests went in. Exactly like for Castro.
But they actually gave to their people.

Yeah but the problem would still be the same...
What about the fees?
A cinema ticket is about 7$. Any tx right now needs a 3$ to go through.
See the problem?

I don't know how BTC can be used to daily purchased but in my opinion it's just not meant to be :/

Ok I won't give any opinion on your supposition about the price we could have reached. Not sure it would have changed much.

What I agree on though is the horrible scale of exchanges!!!! It's the main reason I've stoped all kind of trading! When market goes a bit pad like in last week, exchanges simply stop answering! You can do nothing but see your profit going away!

Especially when exchanges like kraken handles so badly stop and limit orders...

Back at the same price we were at 48 hours ago.

Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you.

Ahah! Why the negative speech (picture especially) my good sir?

Price is at 2400. That's 600 more than a month ago. We can't really call it anything but a win in my opinion!
Unless of course you bought at 2800 then... well I'm a bit sorry for you ^^'

Re: OBAMA was the best President in the world
by

I don't like Trump clearly.

I find that the guy is a horrible human being, his ideas are completely stupid! He might become one of the wordt president ever if he continues to do such a good work!

But it doesn't change the fact that Onama was a shitty president. Noble peace prize LOL the guy started more wars than Bush!
Now he tried some really good things and it's hard to say which part of his mistakes are due to the congress, but he was NOT a great president.

Cool guy, funny, but that's all.

Re: Trump's arms deal with Saudi Arabia cost taxpayers $100b
by

If we go back in time what do we see?
Few wars between ottoman empire and west.
Colonization.
Crusades.
Shit like this?
Wanna count the points?
Not sure West is the winner here...

The West will win. Those arabs are divided in every possible way and as the wahhabis and Iran gaining ground, those divisions are getting deeper and deeper every day.

Crusades were a natural answer to the earlier muslim invasion of Europe (Spain, Sicily, France, Italy and the Byzantine territories, Armenia, Georgia). After the beginning or the Reconquista, recapturing Sicily, Malta, Rhodes and Cyprus, bringing the war back to the Middle East was the best defence against further incursions and also relived the pressure on the Byzantine Empire. So the tusken were kept at bay and away from our lands for nearly 200 years what gave us enough time to prepare for the next invasion (ottomans).

The ottomans occupied the whole Balkans, the Romanian principalities, half of Hungary, South Ukraine and repeatedly launched large scale attacks towards the west.

So, mate who used to invade whom?

Oh if you really want to play historic game you'll have to go back a bit earlier in time :p
Catholic roman empire?
Does it ring a bell in terms of massive invasion? ^^

But my point was never to say "bah we're the evil ones we've started the crusades blame ourselves and let us all kill ourselves in regrets"
Not at all.

My point is that the problem is NOT ISLAM. The problem is that we've been destabilizing, attacking, killing hundreds of thousands of innocents men women and children only to steal them their ressources.
Is it evil? Well it's human nature, I'm not going to judge, and I'm using those ressources.
But islamic extremism is just the consequence of that, there is no reason and no need to feel like we're the victims, that's all I'm saying. They're the victims and we fucked them pretty hard. That's all I'm saying.

WTF is going on? I am pretty happy but a bit scared. I hope there won´t be a huge dump soon.

It's pretty inevitable that there will be a huge dump soon, but which side of $3000 will it be is the question?
Yup
And I feel like I've really opened my short too soon :/

The worst possible scenario would be huge rise to 3500$, making me liquiditing all my positions, then a sudden fallback to 2000$, making me losing all my benefits in capitalization xD
That would not be cool at all.

Just hoping for the dump to happen soon, the sooner the better. Don't want another panick day followed by a flat pathetic 2 years :/

Who knows? Maybe the master plan is to reduce worldwide Muslim population by proxy war with ISIS.

Arm Iran (by Russia, China), arm Saudis (US, Germany), ISIS and Iraqis, Syrian factions, Kurds, Turkey etc.

Let them fight each other to reduce the number of Muslims worldwide.

You sit, count the money and count the bodies (Muslim and non-Muslim)....

Problem with this plan is that it just takes too long...and in the end you'll not solve the root cause of the problem.

Jihadist ideology is part of Islam that is the root cause.

SUre!
Can't be inequality of wealth and constant exterior destabilization in order to take natural ressources.
Must be Islam.

I mean come on, we all know that the real problem is Islam, and there is a great correlation between the two because as we all know terrorism started with Islam! Wait... Didn't it started after the whole numerous wars in Middle East?

No, can't be that. Can't be our fault.

Yeah it's Islam!

Continue going back in time and you'll eventually see the problem...

also, how the fuck is stamp so far ahead of the others?

That's really strange, bearstamp's at $2235 and bitfinex is at $2211. Since when was bearstamp's price higher than bitfinex's?

And kraken is lagging behind at 2172$ :/

Please come buy coins here! They're as shiny as the others and a bit less expensive! :3
