I would say that it is a false detection, considering that only one AV engine detected that file as malicious - and honestly, I have never heard of that AV. I can only confirm that I personally (like some other members) had similar situations when some security programs detected Electrum files as malicious, but it was always a false detection.

The only thing you can do (if you haven't already) is to verify the file through the procedure that you can find on this link ->

[GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]

Many thanks for your response.

I validated the version I installed with the keys - it came back valid.

May I ask, if you download the latest version of Electrum and run it via VirusTotal, is it the same result as mine please?

Thank you

Urgent: RiskWare/Win32.Kryptik.a

Hello,

I downloaded Electrum from the Electrum.org website (official) back in 2023, on 26th August.

Due to recent topics on reddit mentioning malware etc, I decided to scan the installer.

It came back with RiskWare/Win32.Kryptik.a from Antiy-AVL.

Please can someone confirm if this is a false positive or should I be concerned? I also have Norton 360 but that didn't pick up anything.

Thank you in advance.

I was sent bitcoin to an address that has been used twice, however the newer transaction is not displaying on electrum. It also isn't  showing the amount in the coins tab.

Any assistance please?

The BTC address is:

Re: List of bitcoin debit cards

Some companies restrict purchases to debit cards only, Coinbase would have been perfect since I transfer BTC from my external wallet to it, but as previously mentioned their BIN shows as credit card.

I have joined AdvancedCash and their card is showing as debit card on their BIN. Will check to see if its worthwhile (cost wise) or to just use an exchange / localbitcoins

Thanks!

Have you checked out Revolut? I've seen that it works in Europe, and they offer both a virtual card and a physical one. The physical card issuing costs approximately 10 euros, if I remember correctly, and is delivered to your house within a week. I'm using it myself and never had any issue.

Hey Ultegra134,

I have, but they currently do not allow BTC to be transferred from external wallets.

Coinbase allows it however their debit card is classified as a credit card when checking the BIN.

Thank you

Re: Advcash | a new "anonymous" bitcoin debit card [EUR & USD]

Hello AdvancedCash,

Please could you let me know whether your EUR debit card BIN shows up as debit card? As some companies advertise as debit but in actual fact they show up as credit card. The reason why I ask is when I attempt to pay some companies, they decline cards that are credit card (an example is Barclays Finance).

Thank you

Hello,

I hope you are well.

I was wondering if anyone knew a company that issued an actual debit card please? (Verified using the BIN)

I am based in the UK.

Any help would be great.

P.S. Apologies for posting in this thread but I thought it would be most relevant, rather than create a new thread.

Thank you

Anyone else have any ideas please?

I may just transfer to bitcoin core (downloaded it this morning and it's up to date with the network) - could someone possibly shed some light as to how I'd transfer the wallet / coins without fees?

Thanks

Incorrect Balance
by

on 07/12/2017, 20:28:23 UTC
Hello Community Members,

I am currently using Electrum to store my coins and recently spent a small percentage, I have noticed that the balance that is displayed on Electrum is incorrect. How do I rectify this? It's missing £516.51 on time of posting. I have also noticed that the value of 1 BTC isn't updated periodically. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,
makkie

What if the price doesn't drop and increases? Many people (inc. those who predicted correctly in the past) suggest that it'll increase after Aug 1st. I am clueless whether to purchase before the event or after. Maybe 1 BTC rather than going for 3-4 before the event?

Newbie - Investing in BTC/ETH
by

on 21/07/2017, 14:17:28 UTC
Hello all,

I'm new to this and have started learning about the characteristics of bitcoin, how to mine it and the pros and cons of it. Although I have learnt the basics of mining, I personally don't plan on doing it as simply put I do not have the resources to do so. So rather than mining, I am looking into purchasing BTC through localbitcoins then transferring it to my Electrum wallet.

My questions are: (some of these have been answered in older threads but I just want to be reassured please)
- Would you advise on purchasing BTC now before August 1st?
- Is it advisable to use Electrum to store the coins? I have encrypted it and written my seed on paper.
- Would you say, in your opinion, ETH would be a good investment?

I only plan on purchasing a small amount of BTC (3-4) to start with.

If you have any books (or articles) you'd like to share that'd be a good read, please do share!

Thanks,
Makkie
