Re: Feathercoin [FTC]

why price is going Down?

Because there are more people selling it than buying it.

I think there are a deeper reasons behind that:
1. The mining status of FTC is completely unclear. Public mining software was rendered obsolete years ago and is no longer actively developed.
2. Mining with general purpose hardware seems to be pretty pointless even when using private proprietary software.
3. The network became highly centralized what is against the principles of cryptocurrency.
All that is directly opposite to FTC and neoscrypt original promise.

Re: [ANN][DCN] Deepcoin secure hashing (CPU/GPU) New algo/ No premine/ No IPO/ PoW
by

This is what we can do. We need to have a coin swap for a new block chain using the deep algo and some current popular features like masternodes and z-snark tech along with new innovations. A partner and I would be willing to chip in some deeps to make it happen.

As would I.

But the age old question is, "who's coding?".  It'd be a great project to pick up, with quite a few resources already available and/or partly in place, but that question is the crux of the matter.  Deepcoin is cool, but without that, we can only talk.  We need to do.

I don't think we really need a new blockchain. Three years old blockchain is what we only have and it works all right.
Resuming the development requires rather a team of programmers and first thing we need then is a proper code maintenance, including an upgrade to the current version of bitcoin software. So called "coinswap" is a very dirty trick aimed to deprive unaware investors/holders of their assets.

bushstar please make FTC 100% anonymous like monero and zcash,  implement smart contracts like eth and neo and add quantium computer resitance like the newest coins have!

Then we finally can raise adoption to 2 billion$ marketcap where we belong!

Alhough it is relatively easy to implement some cool-looking features, much harder to maintain such a code for a longer time.
I have seen so many projects followed by bull runs that are not now even usable now.

Not agree much about roadmap in terms that it is marketing hype. If it is done regularly it is not hype and it could be done without time schedule for sure.

Roadmap is a good thing provided that it is honest and realistic. Far as I know the goal for the team is now to provide continuous maintenance and to head up with bitcoin development while keeping original Feathercoin promises (faster transactions and mineability with a customer range multipurpose hardware). The first is being provided. The latter is being developed and may open up the gate to the next stage.

Re: [WDC] Worldcoin | 3.0 Flirtatious Ant Released! | Multicoin architecture
by

There's no Dev team at the moment apparently so coin is in the wild. Still mineable confs take forever,

happen eventually.

I am surprised with the silence. WDC had devoted team for so long and they were active just until recently.
I think OP and the website need to be updated. Some of the exchanges delisted WDC while some other added, some links are death.
The most urgent issue is a very long block time, exceeding 5 hours now. The basic Worldcoin promise was short transaction time, wasn't it?
This could get fixed by either changing the algo from scrypt to something else or at least the difficulty adjustment.
Both require a hard or soft fork. This was already mentioned here (2 years ago): https://worldcoin.global/2358-2/

I believe the team will wake up. It would not be reasonable to abandon and waste long time efforts spent to maintain this project for them.
The blockchain age, the presence on the exchanges are worth of some extra work.

Bitcoin surged in price today. Many crypto investors dump to quit the market. Bad luck, but maybe bitcoin recovers.
Feathercoin does have some features that will be appreciated sooner or latter. Halving is a big event for FTC anyway.
Not to many coins survived four years and not too many even have a distribution model based on long term events.

Whoever is able to compile wallet executables for Windows and submit pull requests with any changes that were required, I'll provide minimum 100 SRC bounty.

Source: https://github.com/arthearts/digitalcoin

Hi, Baritus! I really don't want DGC to fade out and want to help.
I've got a programming experience, but never tried to compile linux sources to Windows platform.
I would like to try to do it if you give me at least a basic instructions in which way to look for. It may be just a link to the article or something similar.

1. The sources are system-neutral. The problem is that windows guys do not know how to compile under windows or the compilation there is a really hard thing.
2. There is a possibility to cross-compile, using linux tools to produce binaries for windows or mac. I keep trying to do this using this instruction, with some modifications:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-windows.md

I had to download the qt 5.2 sources manually, then build manually windows versions of zlib, lpng and some other things.
I can't test these builds as a have no access to windows machine, but I believe libraries are ok.
Unfortunately it seems the newest versions of those libraries are incompatible with DGC sources, that are pretty old, based on 0.9 bitcoin version or so.
I keep trying with older versions now but I can't repeat these experiments everyday and I also have to avoid version that are compromised in the terms of security.

Worried with the price FTC today  Angry , to much dumper
Ask ; how about the price after halving ., high or low  Huh

A big ask worth of above 8 BTC was circling over on Bittrex for a whole yesterday but I haven't seen this to be really dumped. Maybe someone was trying to lower the price for a while? The amount of FTC was worth 56 hours of owning the blockchain. I am not too much scared as I know that after halving the current supply will be reduced for the same amount every subsequent 112 hours...

Please mind while looking at this graph the algo was changed and the new one produces less hashrates. From about the begining of May 2017 the network hashrate is growing continuously and there was no miner optimisation within this period unless I missed something.

Cryptopia is the best exchange for listing, and or bleutrade maybe where it was listed originally
I vote for cryptopia, what can we do to help Deepcoin be listed there?

The biggest exchange for DCN was Bittrex. I don't even know what the requirements have to be met to get there, but I would consider it definitely, as they hosted DCN and even didn't rush to delist it in spite of low volumes. Bleutrade was also very fair. C-cex is a place beter not to visit. Their delisting policy is really disgusting. They list for a while, someone pump&dump, they delist in a rush and even do not allow to withdraw the coins after that, creating artificial panic. Cryptopia is an admirable exchange, but someone have just mentioned their requirements are measured in BTC and these are not the most moderate requirement in the world.

Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched!
by
marada
on 04/07/2017, 09:43:15 UTC
I have just compiled litecoin-core v0.14.99 from github and then sent 1.28254629 to address LMhLBt8YdTBH1ki1iVtKDFF32f9qVbchAm
My wallet shows me: "0/offline, has not been successfully broadcast yet" and this transaction is stuck for quite a long time.

As this happened to me for first time I tried to search transaction by block explorer and there I got something even more unusual...
"Sorry, '7aa724b1a0dcf4475a9f78ccc824931b22230860f50d37e84beba864c3f9f7f3' is not a valid transaction or block hash for ltc "

How is it possible?

EDIT: After relaunching the wallet massage changed to "Status: 0/unconfirmed, in memory pool".
To investigate the issue I launched 0.13 wallet and made another transaction. This time I noticed the block explorer recognised tx as valid and it started getting confirmations, while the transaction generated with 0.14.99 wallet stalled for well... It looks like this version generated id that is recognised as invalid by other clients.

EDIT2: Fortunately the time resolved the issue and the previous transaction is already confirmed.  Cheesy
Well, it is still interesting why the tx was recognised as "not valid for LTC" and why did it take so long...

@marada: makefile after step1. There i only install some dependencies.

sudo apt-get install build-essential libtool autotools-dev autoconf pkg-config libssl-dev libboost-all-dev libqt5gui5 libqt5core5 libqt5dbus5 qttools5-dev qttools5-dev-tools libprotobuf-dev protobuf-compiler libqrencode-dev libminiupnpc-dev git libdb5.1-dev

however, i can help you testing the mac app if need.

Would be great to see DGC back again!

Sorry, makefile in step 2.
Code:
./autogen.sh
./configure --with-whatever-you-like
make sure you are in the right directory when invoking make command
Code:
you@yourcomputer ~/digitalcoin $make

EDIT:

I think there are maybe some more dependencies missing and it's why ./configure failed to create makefile.
I may have not listed all of them. Let me know your ./configure output or see the message I have sent to you.

You can also find the binary file here:

i get stuck in step 4.
make  gave me "No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop."
seems there is no makefile?

Makefile should be created after step 1 step 2.
Are you in the original digitalcoin directory?
Use pwd command to make sure.

When you say "no one could answer simple questions about what was going on."  - what do you mean exactly ?  Who did you try to contact ?    The coin is actively maintained and developed if you check the github commits/pulls/pushes etc
The forums are quite active and we've had a major influx of new users.
The coin is reliable, The coin is open.  Is there something particular you were after ?

What only did I mean was that I could not find the proper answer for a very long time neither in the sources documentation, reading FTC forum nor asking here.
Look at my post and further replies:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.msg13786625#msg13786625
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.msg16961121#msg16961121

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.msg13823798#msg13823798

I wasn't the only one having that:
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/issues/87

The proper answer was most likely that:
1. This version would not compile with qt4 and special option ./configure --with-gui=qt5 was required,
2. An additional dependency of ZXING was required and some bugs had to be fixed or worked around.

The uncertainty period started from my perspective when the new code was released and prompted but the problems were not resolved. It got worse when the fork occurred (at least one pool encountered that as well) and the only option became the binaries which  I could not reproduce the process of building so I had to decide not to use them. It got worse again when I got locked out of my coins indefinitely due to these binaries premature EOL-ing. It got resolved couple days ago when I could finally acquire the proper information about aforementioned and the status of this wallet had got back to normal. The coin is open as long as the code is properly documented. The coin is reliable as long as you may be sure otherwise will not happen.

EDIT:
I need to admit it could be at least partially my fault. Reading properly the history of
https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/blob/7c18e68835829cea32e54fad9533ee89c0afcdb9/doc/README.md
I learned that the key for the answer was lying there but I did not pick it up!

EDIT2:
Well, my fault from  25 Jun 2016

Spend your time figuring this out you young troll..
https://twitter.com/Crypt0Sauce/status/874328634370260993

Don't waste your time fighting market manipulations practices. It isn't worth it. What does FTC really need is to focus on the development and documentation. My requirements have already been met thanks to your efforts. Many people will appreciate it, especially business operators. For me this was a milestone from what we had for half a year since 0.8 sources had become obsolete and no one could answer simple questions about what was going on. The coin must be reliable and open at the first place. It must be also actively maintained, developed and predictable. All these features combined together will decide about it's value and future soon or later. The coin is just a software...

I was able to get my coins out of my wallet from the client that crashed on windows by building the client for linux.  Has anyone had any luck building for Windows.  I still can't get a build on Mac.

can you tell me what you have done on linux? version, source?

i really like to clear my paper wallet.

Using Linux Mint 17.3 you can compile the sources with following steps (by typing in the terminal):

1. Install dependencies
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential libtool autotools-dev autoconf pkg-config libssl-dev libboost-all-dev libqt5gui5 libqt5core5 libqt5dbus5 qttools5-dev qttools5-dev-tools libprotobuf-dev protobuf-compiler libqrencode-dev libminiupnpc-dev git libdb5.1-dev
* it will ask for user password and you won't see while typing

2. Clone from git and configure
Code:
git clone https://github.com/DGCDev/digitalcoin
cd digitalcoin
./autogen.sh
./configure --with-gui --with-incompatible-bdb

3. Fix silly bugs and get back to the original directory
Code:
cd src/leveldb
make libmemenv.a libleveldb.a
cd ..
cd ..

4. Make (and optionally install)
Code:
make -j 2
sudo make install
* use the number after "j" corresponding with the count of cores you have for saving your time.

5. launch
Code:
digitalcoin

@aciddude
Thanks for your interest.

No Problem - The Feathercoin Community is happy to help out whenever we can.

Could you let me know which one build guide have you used or what steps you have followed so I could try to reproduce them?

I've written a guide and posted it on the Feathercoin Forums, it covers LinuxMint 17.3, Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 14.04  - I tested the same build instructions on clean VMs from OsBoxes.org

http://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8902/build-feathercoin-0-9-6-on-linuxmint-ubuntu

if you configure a VM with 8GB ram and 2x Virtual Processors then following the guide you should have Feathercoin-qt v0.9.6 built in 30 mins or so ;-)

let me know if you get stuck anywhere.

Thanks very much aciddude. I was finally able to build 0.9.6 wallet from sources using tips from your guide. I didn't follow it directly but at last realised the problem was zxing.
Though it is not very urgent now, may you could try to prepare a guide for building 0.11 version? Just thinking about the future release that is supposed to come...

by

Does anyone know what is going on with Poloniex XDN balances?
I am unable to withdraw XDN from there since the famous delisting, because the wallet is "temporary" disabled.
The support once answered with a joke or a template that was about "reasons may cause the withdrawal confirmation email not to be received" while it has nothing to do with the problem and my inquiry is being "processed" for next 13 days with no result. The coin itself seems to be operational. Is it just my or a common problem?

EDIT:
@Vlizzjeffrey
Sorry for doubling your post.
It seems I am not alone.

EDIT2:
After doing a little research I see there are dozens of complaints in this thread.
The withdrawals were even available for a very short time but those who managed to press the button were also very unlucky.

Jut couple of questions before I try to proceed with http://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8556/guide-build-feathercoind-feathercoin-qt-v0-9-3-1-on-ubuntu-16-04-lts
There is a lot of "sudo make install" commands in this guide, while I would really prefer to build a local version and avoid installing alien packages that can mess up the whole system.
Do I really need to install ancient 4.8 bdb or can I use 5.1-dev that I have already installed and used with FTC so my current blockchain is compatible with that?
Do I need to compile and install static build of openssl-1.0.1l or can I use system openssl-1.0.1f provided in the repositories?
