Bitcoin-QT in server mode --(SOLVED)

PROBLEM SOLVED

Hey Folks, Grin

I have solved my problem. It was quite a small detail in naming the .conf file.

I had named it bitcoin-qt.conf assuming that since the client is called bitcoin-qt.exe, hence the .conf file should be called bitcoin-qt.conf and not bitcoin.conf.

Now that I have named the config file bitcoin.conf, the wallet opens in server mode and bfgminer connects.

Cheers guys and hope that this helps some other noob (i'm a noob too at solo).

Hi guys,

I have done everything as described here on the forum in Noobs guide to solo mining, but my bitcoin-qt refuses to start up in server mode as it will not accept any rpcpassword at all.

I keep getting a msg from wallet saying "It is recommended you use the following random password ....." and gives a very long random password as an example. (I would love to insert a jpeg of the screenshot, but do not know how to add it to the message).

My server exe bat is in the bitcoin-qt.exe folder. (Code is: bitcoin-qt.exe -server)

My bfgminer bat is:

bfgminer.exe -o 127.0.0.1:8332 -u USRNAME -p RANDOMPASSWORD -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 --icarus-options 115200:2:2

My .conf file is:

server=1
rpcuser=USRNAME
rpcpassword=RANDOMPASSWORD
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8332

I keep getting a pop up msg from wallet saying "It is recommended you use the following random password ....." and gives a very long random password as an example and it shuts down Bitcoin-qt once I click on OK button on pop up message.. (I would love to insert a jpeg of the screenshot, but do not know how to add it to the message).

The pop up message:

"It is recommended that you use the following:

rpcuser=bitcoinrpc
rpcpassword=64Us4D7......... etc.

The username and the password MUST NOT be the same.... etc

If the file does not exist......"

and so on...

I have of course tried with all kinds of passwords.

Since my installation is in drive F, then the data folder is not to be found in the %appdata%roaming folder, and is to be found in my F:Bitcoin folder. But this should not be a problem.

I am using a Vista machine, but experienced the same hurdle on my old xp machine.

As I have mentioned, my bitcoin-qt and the bitcoin data folders are both on drive F though I had the same problems when I tried an installation in C drive.

I have placed my .conf file in the bitcoin data folder on drive F.

I wonder if anyone can help.

Thanks Huh

here is what i have setup for do solo.

bitcoin.conf
Code:
server=1
rpcuser=USRNAME
rpcpassword=RANDOMPASSWORD
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8332

Then for bfgminer i have my bitcoind address (localhost in this example) with the username and password in the bitcoin.conf. seems to work...

Hi guys,

I have done everything as you describe above, but my bitcoin-qt refuses to start up in server mode as it will not accept any rpcpassword at all.

My bfgminer bat is:

bfgminer.exe -o 127.0.0.1:8332 -u USRNAME -p RANDOMPASSWORD -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 --icarus-options 115200:2:2

My .conf file is as in the code in your post.

I keep getting a msg from wallet saying "It is recommended you use the following random password ....." and gives a very long random password as an example. (I would love to insert a jpeg of the screenshot, but do not know how to add it to the message).

I wonder if you can help.

Thanks

Mazacoin observation and question.

Hello RobRoy,

I am mining mzc on Coinmer Pool.

http://coinminer.net:19995/static/index.html

Been mining there since Friday  evening 21 March, and can see earnings in payout etc., but I have yet to see a single mzc driop into my wallet.

I know that it takes a little time before the payments start dripping in, but this seems to be quite a long time. I can understand if this was mining for btc or ppc etc with very high difficulty, but here the time seems too long.

I can see from block crawler, that some are being paid as you can see the transactions.

http://explorer.mazacoin.org/chain/MazaCoin

When I check there, I see this:

"Address MVA4y3qfyztcdPuMYb4JuZPAPJfikijn59

Address not seen on the network.

MZC: MBLRyPQRPygfYPMns4QHcY4XgfUWq8jc8v"

Is there an explanation?

My MZC wallet address is: MVA4y3qfyztcdPuMYb4JuZPAPJfikijn59

Until Luke gives us some goodies to work with I am using cgminer.
  Was your U2 showing a steady red led? This is my first ASIC and I feel like I talked myself into jumping in a foul moat.

Red led is always on.

When the miner is working there is a small green light flashing (on the U1 anyway).

I've gotten my hands on some AntMiner U2s but bfgminer is not seeing them.

This is on a Raspi.

Code:
./bfgminer-3.10.0/bfgminer -S antminer:all -o stratum.myfuckingpool.com:3333 -u demonmaestro_usb -p 1
  I got my Antminer U2 today also, no luck so far. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.  SiLab drivers installed. Windows sees the device in corect port. The miner has a steady Red LED but BFGMiner has No New Device Found. I can't find any info from Bitmain for these either. Well, except for pricing.

Have you tried giving the COM port numbers in the command line?

Something like this...  -S \\.\COM1 or the COM port of your U2 antminer.

For example .. my run command bat file is:

bfgminer.exe -o ppc.fixx.ru:8437 -u xxxx.ppc01 -p xx1 -S \\.\COM3 -S \\.\COM4 -S \\.\COM8 -S \\.\COM9 -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 --icarus-options 115200:2:2

I have a vista laptop and BFGminer 3.10...

BFGminer works fantastic with my Antminer U1 units and should be same for the U2 units.

By the way be very careful to not add extra spaces in between commands as that will create an error.

best regards

So there ARE people mining this, and even MUCH more than other sha256 coins.
To mine a coin increase only the quantity of the coins, but not the value.

You are right.

The value come if coin is used in trading for goods and services and that way builds a support base.

Still some problems with logging on, but perhaps you could be right in that this seems to be a growing up/learning curve problem.

It is quite feasible that the owner/admin of cryptohub might have misjudged the bandwidth requirements or numbers of miners joining the pool.

However, it seems that they are making the effort to sort out the mess and hopefully the come out smelling like roses.

I have never set up a pool or tried to administer one, so have no clue to what it entails and therefore wish them the best of luck

However i would like to advise them to be at the fore with info in future with info on problems and steps taken/being taken to alleviate any worries on miners' minds via transparency when glitches appear.

Preventing bad PR is just as important as fixing the glitches.

That way they can perhaps retain the miners.

Best regards

PS! I also have this after resetting password and trying to log in: Unable to login: Account locked.

I'm thinking to continue with perhaps another 5 of these auctions over at the new Emercoin forum - See: http://www.emercointalk.org

That's the 'official' emercoin forum - right ?

Can't seem to reach that forum anymore. I hope it will come back online.

Hi MessyC,

Did you sell the 50K emercoin you posted about?

There is nothing 100% in this world or life. There is always a margin of error. Without errors, no improvements.

By the way, is there any special procedure to uninstall wallet client 1.4 and to replace with version 1.5?

Yeah, I remember that. Angry

Let us see how it pans out this time.

But surely the last transaction which came into my wallet about 9 hours ago should have been confirmed by now.... or what?

Yo ice,

It is emermarco. Hiya mate.

Got a bit worried. That is all.

Theother problem is that the last transaction which I received about 9 hours ago into my wallet has still not been confirmed  (so far only one confirmation).

Is that normal?

Cheers

There is something wrong with pool.emercoin.com pay out and update of earnings.

It has not updated my earnings for the last 9 hours despite my average hash rate being around 7500Mh/s.

The last payment about 9 hrs ago still has not been confirmed.....

Anybobdy know of a reason?

Who can I contact to get this sorted out?

Thanks for any help

WWWIN

I will remember that.

I am using zadig for the cgminer 3.10, but that program refuses to accept the bmsc options as adding it to the command line makes the command window to appear for a second and disappear.

Perhaps that was the problem.

I will try the BFGminer 3.10 with the Silicon Labs cp210x USB to UART Brigde drivers first and work my way down the versions.

Thanks
