Are we all conditioned to actually believe crap like "3-4month ROI are over"??

15%diff, 24 days from now start time with free power.... ROI in 110 days  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Its a cruel joke right?

Bitmain, please re-spin your numbers and come back with a 80-90 day ROI like your end of line S1

My 10 S1 will earn 40% more by the end of 2015 then 10 S3 will...

(free power, up to 18kw, thank you poorly written 3 year lease!)

If you don't mind the slightly dirty feeling of mining with a BFL associated pool, Eclipsemc.com Bitcoin Mining Pool also allows for 443 mining. That's the only other pool I'm aware of.

I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to sell out my Ants. I think they are starting to become too low hashrate machines.

Maybe in 2-4 weeks if BTC is at 660-670, longer if higher. I am hoping that bitmain will EOL S1, as this should increase the resale value.

Asic equipment cannot rise in value faster than the difficulty jumps.  In 2-4 weeks will be 14-16 Billion difficulty.

More like, when Bitmain stops dropping the price weekly, it becomes more market driven instead of the usual

"you want how much?!?!? I can buy them direct for bla bla bla less then your selling!!!!"

Am I the only one who's noticed the new PDF on Bitmaintech's website with step-by-step instructions on how to solder capacitors directly to each hashing board....

"Guideline for soldering Capacitors to S2 hash board to fix chip disabling issue"

eek.... happy long weekend to me...

That sucks Sad.
Factory defect on this batch or engineering oversight? How many blades are in an S2? 4 caps per blade need to be added if I understand correct?

Maybe half the chips are disabled, and this + a 2nd PSU is part of bitmains post about being able to OC each S2 to 1.8-2Thash cheaply?

anyone in canada have experience with getting these ants... whats the customs procedure like? how much did you end up paying in taxes / duties?

About $26 a machine.  No customs issues, just pay the man when he comes to your door.
Its even cheaper for multiples. My last order of 9 averaged $18 per ant. Shipping is fast and smooth, no problem getting them in the country.

About the same here, 92$ for each of my 5 unit orders

Looks like I have a failed ethernet port/Control board from my last batch  Undecided

Power the S1 up and only the green led on the ethernet port flashes. No activity from the amber light. The red led on the control board is solid, and the green led slowly pulses.

Can't access the webgui or ssh in. Tried port scanning on .0.99 through .2.99 and nothing. Disconnect each blade, try swapping sides, still nothing.

Here is the odd part. When I power the S1 up, about 5 minutes later the entire antfarm (9 total) will all go down, showing pool status "dead" for all of them!
Unplug the ethernet for the broken one and they will all come back online, happily hashing away! Is the damaged control board sending out malformed packets?

I have emailed bitmain, as I bought it direct. Hope a replacement happens quickly!

You will want to find the product with the highest GH/s per $, and ignore the GH/s per W figure. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#ASIC

Also, there is no such thing as free electricity. What you mean to say is, electricity that someone else is paying for.

Not necessarily so, I "pay" for electricity because its rolled into the cost of my fixed monthly rent.

Re: 1 T/Hash miners?

It's all a numbers game, current 1 th/s miners will return close to 6BTC. At $1000, that would mean the miner would cost 3BTC ($3,000) and return 6BTC for a 3BTC profit. But at $400, the miner costs 7.5BTC and would return 6BTC for a 1.5BTC loss. You're better off buying and holding.

The only caveat to that would be something like the S1 antminers, purchasable with btc that for awhile kept dropping in price to keep them an attractive option.

It removes (some) of the uncertainty around pricing if a miner can return more btc than it costs to buy (with some guesswork dif increase %) in a respectable amount of time before energy costs eat the value.

My uneducated guess of 20% increase, at the price I grabbed the miners, including PSU (x6) will, maybe, ROI in 87 days, year end btc profit of 39%

But!
Power supply=free
network connection=free
misc supplies=free

Only down side is the 100A service in the apartment. Been chatting up neighbors hoping they would let me mine for a share of profits.

Re: [120'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers

Looks like http://port80.btcguild.com/ now redirects to https://www.btcguild.com/ which isn't overly useful for mining behind a fussy firewall, is this going to get fixed/reverted?

If not, are there alternative http/https addresses I can use with BTC Guild?

tia

Port80 is currently down for the count due to the continued work on removing getwork.  I'm looking at setting up one stratum server to redirect incoming port 80 connections to port 3333.  Port 80 will not be coming back to getwork.

Was port 80/443 ever fixed/implemented? Trying to mine behind restrictive firewall, landlord seems to have gone after torrents and blocked dam near everything else.

How come we don't find blocks for hours and then boom boom, two in a row, and then wait again? Just curious how or why it happens.... seen it with other pools too.

It's completely random and based on the pools hashrate.  Right now I think BTCGuild has about 16-18% of the total hashrate. That means every block we have a 16-18% change to get. If we don't get the current block then the next block starts and we have a 16-18% chance to get that one.  That being said, we could go on a run of 4-5 blocks in a row if we were really lucky (akin to flipping a bunch of heads in a row since we should only be getting one of those blocks).  Or we could go 20-30 blocks without getting one if we were really unlucky.  In the long run in all averages out .

Problem in bold !

Isn't that the problem now? "long run" may have been months, now 6-9 weeks and profit has mostly evaporated, unless the btc price has also dramatically risen?

Or is that time frame still long enough that mining on a small pool is still viable, even with some bad luck?
