Hey this community is active and growing, I'd encourage all of you to setup an account over at the official solarcoin forums. I think it would be great if we could pull all of the interested participants together in one place.

People who call this coin a scam don't understand it.

The premine is held in reserve and given out for solar energy generation over the next 40 years.

There's no other way to do POW for solar generation

Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies!
by

Not all "premines" are necessarily bad. Not all alt-coins are crap. Let the market decide.

I'm wondering how much Solarcoin is a factor in this myself. Huh

Listen, there's no perfect way to do this.

Yes, premined coins which are held in reserve can make a coin appear higher in the rankings. However, that's really irrelevant, because if all of those premined coins were dumped on the market at once, the coin would drop to the bottom of the rankings.

There's no way to know how many coins are available. You just don't know who owns them and what their intention is.

You can look at the blockchain and see total supply, and you can look at the exchanges and see price. Everything else is conjecture.

Sure, make an option to filter out coins with sizable premines, just like you can filter out non-minable coins.

Coinmarketcap is a cool site and I check it daily. Keep up the good work.

Apologies if I got this wrong... but based on the nxt-e price and including the generator pool, is the market cap already approaching USD 1B?

We are about to find out. It looks like it's about to go live on coinmarketcap!

Actually you can view ripple charts here:

https://ripplecharts.com/market/XRP/USD:Bitstamp ( You may need to flip it).

Ripple has some real haters, but if they get it right it could go big. I'm holding mine. Volume and price are moving in the right direction.

Re: Offering PayPal for Bitcoin? You're likely to be labeled a scammer - Read why
by

Love it or hate it, PayPal is pretty damn convenient and this means it's not going anywhere for now.

Conversely, getting BTC is pretty inconvenient in comparison, and until this changes PP will continue to dominate the online payment industry.

Exactly. Plus bitcoin transactions can't be disputed. That's great if you're a merchant or a criminal, but if you are the poor slob who had your BTC stolen (or the merchant didn't deliver after you paid) you have no recourse.

At least a credit card company will help you get your money back if you get taken for a ride by a shady merchant.

If you bought as an investment, then think long term. plan on holding them a year or 2 or 10. then you can ignore these little burps in the price. Or, you can take advantage of these drops to increase your holdings. one caveat though, never speculate with more money than you can afford to lose.

This is good advice. The key with investing is to #1 get in early (and we still are...)

#2... you want to buy all the way down

#3... consider selling on the way up.

Most people do it the other way around and buy high and sell low.

I think I am late to the party, oh well, looks fun.

I don't think so. The party is just getting ready to get started. Hang onto your hats... it's going to be a bumpy ride, but over time crypto currencies are going to change the world.

They appeal to too many people:

geeks
cyberpunks
anti-banking crowd
anti-government crowd
gold/silver bugs

... and furthermore, it just makes sense.

You may have missed out on being one of the first 'early adopters', but most people still don't know what btc is, and you're way ahead of 98% of the population.

Hang onto them. This is still a new frontier and over time BTC is here to stay. You'll be glad you held your ground. Keep acquiring BTCs and don't worry about the price. You'll wake up some day and be plesantly surprised.

I'm sure this has been said before, but the amazing thing here is that we are still in the infancy of cybercurrencies and as bitcoin gets harder to mine, and more attention stokes demand, the price will ultimately go up. yes, there's a lot of volatility now, but that's just because the market is still in it's infancy.

Hang onto your BTC for 5+ years and you'll make a killing. My opinion.
