use your first setup with 8 gpus, but not the hd6 crap, put some nice HD5850 on it, expinsive but powerfull, 2 good PSUs with 800-850W and it will be fine.
It will give you about 2,9Ghash

And btw, why have you choosen such expensive boards with full 16 physical lanes per pci-e slot? there are much cheaper boards with just 2 or 3 pci-e 16x slots and a few pci-e 1 slot.
Its better to go for the cheap ones, as you surly know, the amount of lanes doesnt matter per slot.

1,25V is safe to the vrams  Shocked

i dont think so, atleast my one cant handel it, above 1,2V i get blackscreen with 100% fan after a while, as higher the voltage is, as earlier the card fails.
I only testet it at one card, the other never failed, but i havent pushed them any further then 960mhz and 1,18V.
I will stay at this clocks, the difference is too less to risk a dead card.

and btw, my 7 year old psu was designed to deliver about 465W, at the wall my pc needs about 540W  Grin

So i think i shouldn overvolt them to 1,25V hehe

my hd5850 cards (3 units) running on 950/1,18V for a few weeks fine.
I dont want to go higher, dont want to ruin my cards.
They give me 375Mhash, its fine i think?

are you talking about quadro or firegl cards?
They are already there (since years), have much vram, are 24/7 able, generate less heat and are very expensive.

Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins

seems like mining namecoins is too high for me.

At first, i dont really understand the system, but that doesnt matter i think.

I try to mine nmc, but iam failing at the early beginning.
i downloaded the .exe file and startet it, but the command line which appears ist only vieable for about 5 sec (black), then it closes itself. I gues this is my first problem?

Then, i createt die namecoin.conf file somewhere in "appdata", iam not sure whether it is right or not, i changed nothing in this file, but i need to fill in my username + password right?
Where can i registrate to get these user datas?

Is there any existing toturial about how to mine/use namecoins?

It's a command line application so if there's any error you won't be able to see it like that.
What you should do is open a command window, usually typing CMD into your Start menu search box and hitting enter would do.

You should get a black console/command window. Then, I would CD to the correct folder but might get complicated, so just type in the full path to your namecoind.exe to run it and see what's the problem.

of curse ive done it this was, i startet the .exe file over windows 7 command line. It happened exactly the same.

So, iam still at the same point as 5 hours ago.

you live in germany and dont have to pay electricity? Maybe u get some old crap PCs with PCI-E, buy just some gpus and mine with that.
Would you be allowed to set up privat PCs there to avoid high electricity costs at home?
PM wherer you are located pls.

I don't see how it would be a problem as long as the temperature stays low.

Mobile VRM's aren't designed for 24/7 stress at 100% (or more if overclocked). The ventilation is designed expecting normal pauses every now and then.

Notebooks also need to be stable on 24/7 stress. THere are desktop machins which fail at permanent load and there are notebooks which fail.
My notebook with t7400 and Nvidia 9700GT is old, but it can stand 24/7 load too.
THe temps are fine, in contrast to the HD5850 in my mining ring, its stable too, but becomes very hot.

Re: Lowest Hardware CPU?

why you should do this?
A new board coast about 70USD with can handle 4 gpus, 40USD for an cpu and another 20 for ram.

Isnt this better (also less power consumption) then buy for about 30-60usd sutch questionable adapters?

xD, i just picked the worsest time, to start with mining...
Damm... when a low intel atom cpu with about 0,3Mhash or so was able to collect 250BTC... iam running about 1,3Ghash and mal 0,8BTC/day.
That really make me sad
