I know this was talked about before but so far I've gotten no response to the PM I sent to the new devs on swapping v2 coins for v3 coins so I'll ask here. I came too late to get them onto Bittrex so I guess the only way to turn v2 to v3 is on coin-swap. I sent about half my coins there to be swapped but the coins just sit in oshibe and don't turn into shibe. Is that how it's supposed to be? Is there another way? Do I now just send the balance on coin-swap to my new wallet? Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: [ANN] Bittrex / Poloniex / Cryptsy All Coin Trading Software, Quatloo Trader.

I've been using Quatloo trader for a few days now and I really like was the software is currently capable of (can't wait for more features)! As much as I do like the software, I have a question about its operation. I noticed that when I perform some of the trades that I get a lot of cancelled orders. I have plenty of coins to perform the trades and the trades are within my parameters. Why does this keep happening? Is it something on the exchange side or the trader side?

I apologize if this question has already been addressed but thanks for any assistance!

Re: [ANN][RDD] Reddcoin - The Social Currency- [PoSV] Official Release v1.3.1.2
by

Can anyone help with this problem I came back to from over the weekend? When I try to open Reddcoin Windows qt 1.3.1.2 it says:

Assertion Failed!

Program: C:\...reddcoin-qt.exe
File: src/checkpoints.cpp, Line 285

Expression: mapBlockIndex.count(hashSyncCheckpoint)

What does this all mean and how do I fix it? I have very recent backups of my wallets just in case. Thanks!

Tip:
Back up your wallet.dat file before doing anything. Its better to be safe than sorry

Yes. I have a recent backup of my wallet.

Delete everything in the folder that has the wallet.dat file -EXCEPT- the wallet.dat file.  This will delete the blockchain, which seems to have an error.  Then re-sync the blockchain.  It will take a few hours.

Thanks! I totally forgot about this solution for some reason...I tried deleting the qt and reinstalling but that didn't work (I did that prior to asking but forgot to mention it Tongue). I'm downloading the block chain no errors at the moment. Thanks for the help all!

Gotta get your mind off the price, man. When the coin is successful, the price will follow.

Do you guys think we should try to get cryptopros.com to recompare [Suspicious link removed] with other auto-switching pools? I think they would be open to it since Doge coin isn't an unfair advantage for multipool or middlecoin and [Suspicious link removed] seems to be doing very well lately with the addition of all of the "MOO" coins we're mining. I currently mine here and at multipool and I believe [Suspicious link removed] is killing them in terms of BTC/MH/s.

So a profitability of 70 is compared to bitcoin right? wouldn't it be much better to compare it to another scrypt coin like LITECOIN ?

I mean its all good and dandy, but bitcoin is asic territory. Its completely useless to compare it to it

It's actually quite useful to compare to Bitcoins. Most people use this measure as an indication of how good coins are to mine and as it's easily the most recognizable cryptocurrency, it's easy for people to understand. You can compare all SHA26 and Scrypt coins to either Bitcoin or Litecoin in terms of profitability. If you check a site like coinchoose.com, you can see that. It would really only be helpful to compare to Litecoin profitability in cases were coins can only be exchanged for Litecoins and not Bitcoins, but that is a pretty rare case.

Besides, Bitcoin is the coin with the most liquidity in terms of fiat currency, which is what most people are working towards anyway.

So I know that MOO is being used to cover up the coins that are new and "fragile" but can we get maybe an asterisk or something on the coin settings page to show which of the coins and being masked by MOO? I want to look further into the newer coins but there are lots on the coin settings page I don't recognize and I'm afraid that I won't be able research all of them.

Ok....just...WOW all that wasted work last night. See this is what I meant about keeping us "in the know." I wouldn't have been mining with you all night had you specified it was not just a simple "stratum issue" or slow data imports, but actual factual ****ed up rounds with 0 payout.

Next sign of error, I'm off to middlecoin til all this crap is in working order. Prices are too low and going lower too quick to piss around.

Sorry, but business is business.

 Embarrassed

Few pages back there is statement that due to import of data, last day round is not counted yet and will be credited tommorow. I am starting to hate this kind of blind / unable to read dickheads bitching "Oooh, my free money making machine is broken, fix it asap" on all topics. FY.

Surely I must not have seen the data import issue post, since I mentioned that in my post and all. This was not all data issues, these were snubbed rounds of nothing AFTER the data issues, for about 2 hours hours of electricity spent. Not sure how you get "free" either when the card cost money and so does juice.

Apt to shoot, shot down instead.

You can go to Hashcows FAQ section once You´ll learn to read . There You´ll find out that NO SHARE IS LOST, since its counted to next round. And You can even sell Your cards when they are no longer need for heating Your house for free profit. Crossfired.

Even if they carry over, is that still not a poor average? Say I was to get and average of .001 btc per round for two rounds. If a full length rounds worth of shares go to 0 blocks found, and the next is normal, that's a total of .001 btc, 50% profit regardless. While this is a great strat to minimize loses, it still does not make up for the lost time. If it did, they would be paying out more than taking in.

My only beef with this is that last night, after one of the admins came to mention why the stratum was disconnecting, I was thrilled he did so, so I wasn't fumbling in the dark again. One then mentioned some time later how many of the rounds were short and/or ended before finding a block because of these issues, something that was not posted with the "connection issues" post. These are not just unpaid, poorly informed rounds, they were outright failures in generating and profit. It was seemingly opportunistically left out, because how many people would stick around mining overnight if they knew?

Hold on a second...are all the people complaining telling us that you don't set up failover pools? That's the entire idea of failover pools. If you can't mine in one place, you go to another and mine there. I make sure to have at least three alive pools at any given time just to be safe. The admins have been nothing but forthright with information, I really doubt they would start trying to dupe anyone NOW of all times.

Besides, those rounds are not lost profit. Maybe at most, you have 10 mins here and there of downtime. You're not making enough in those couple of mins to really matter. If you have cgminer 3.7.2 setup like you should, it has the 5 minute stability testing where it sends you to another pool and makes sure the pool is stable before switching you back over. The feature is there for a reason. USE IT.

The problem is that if you don't enforce users to use capital letters, numbers and punctuation, they will use just lowercase chars, for lazyness.
Thus, if a hacker brute-forces with lowercase chars, he will be successful on most users.
Actually, brute force attacks works very well with dictionaries, so the real benefit would be not allowing common words, instead of enforcing capitals or numbers.
I have experience of this because I did security audits on unix machines back in the nineties: you could easily find most passwords by using a dictionary + some numbers and mixed caps.

I don't agree with the enforce of punctuation and uppercase for two reasons:

1) most (new) keyboard don't have the CAPS LIGHT, so you don't know if you are in uppercase or not, you have no idea how many customers bitches about the uppercase thing with the wireless keyboards, because they type it wrong several times and the passwords gets disabled, all because those keyboards don't have the caps light.

2) punctuation: about 70% of every computer i work on, have the keyboard language mapping wrong, so punctuation are everywhere except where you expect it, so, it is impossible (unless you remember the position of the punctuation keys) to type a password like that if you can't see what are you typing because the mapping does not match the real keyboard.

I think is better to use only lowercase letters and numbers, and a dictionary check, if the password is found in the dictionary, it will force you to choose another one.

agreed, i'm about to sign up to hashcows for testing and these password requirements are cumbersome

about 85% of the computers i use are 23 year old radio shack types and a variety of letters can be quite sticky
not to mention letters can be used to form words that some people find offensive

i say make required passwords be a 3 digit pin (no duplicate digits! i might hit the key twice on accident!) and leave it at that

LMAO...3 digit pin?! Ya know what, skip the PIN and just hand your BTC over to me as soon as you mine it.

You're just asking to get your balance stolen with a 3 digit pin. I could guess it in 10 mins.

The site password restrictions are quite common and more sites should use the restrictions. Sure, they can be a pain, but it's not unlike signing into Facebook or Yahoo!.

You don't want a new password system like the rest of the developed world because your computer is too old but you're mining with some fancy new graphics cards? I can't even...

Since the values of the altcoins are much lower than we are used to, are you guys cashing out to BTC or just hoarding until a more opportunistic time to dump?

I personally am hoarding but I wanted to see what others are doing.

I think there will always be a steady stream of new coins, but when the dust settles BTC and LTC will be the only ones left standing with good value.

I don't believe that all of the newest coins are necessarily bad. For instance, Tagcoin seems to be developed by someone who has an interest in making it widely available utilizing QR codes and phones. The problem, it seems to me, is that most coins don't have a way to use them. As I mentioned above, Tagcoin seems to have good intentions but what the heck would I spend the coins on?!

NXTCoin is interesting to me as well as it's purely PoS but there's nothing driving the trading therefore, no one will profit. Everyone is just sitting on the coins, waiting for their account to collect value but since there is no demand, the coins deflate in value and everyone will be hurting.

Really, LTC is a BTC clone but it utilizes scrypt instead of sha256. I believe that it will continue to go up in value for a while but I don't think it will hold on forever considering the number of scrypt coins out there that have much better features.

Has anyone been experiencing some hash rate discrepancies? I have three miners running; The first has three cards, the second has two cards and the third has one card. I'm adding up the separate worker hash rates and they don't add up with my total on the main page.

Just wanted to see if anyone else also had these troubles...

anyone who has experience running ubuntu?

Recently had to use an older computer for my cards, running ubuntu 12.10 32bit with 2gb ram and cgminer 3.5.0, using the latest drivers from amd. I have a 6950 and a 6970 but only getting around 500 kh/s with both cards combined, compared to 900-1000 I had when running on a win 7 64bit 8gb ram computer (also 3.5.0).

I don't have any special settings, just the pool information and an intensity of 19, no hardware errors, GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
and GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 has been set.

I have heard that Linux is more difficult to use the overclocking tools than Windows. Also, if you have any questions on what others are getting, I would check https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison. I suspect it's the driver version you're using in combination with the SDK version. If you're running a ATI HD 7xxx series GPU, you'll want SDK 2.8 but if you're not, I hear 2.6 is the way to go.

I don't personally own or run anything other than ATI HD 7xxx series GPUs, just giving some suggestions. Good luck!

rob151515, this is very typical at pools. They do not pull the hashing rate of your computer directly into the site. Your hashing rate is calculated based upon the number of shares you submit in a certain amount of time. Hope this helps.
