Do not. It's like gold mining. Leave it to professionals.

So according to you gold mining should stop when all current gold miners get old and die?

There's no gold mining if there are no gold miners, by definition.

To be a double spend he would need to send the same bitcoin on two different transactions.

That's what he tried to accomplish, right?

Hi there,

Because of the trolling I understand some measures had to be taken to prevent it, however I've been here since 2011, and I feel stupid to go through this process. Anyway.. here goes my first post! *hooray*

If was interested in a trading bot, but had some questions about it.

Who of you tried using a trade bot?
Whats your experience with it?
Have you made any profit using such bots?

That's it, I hope I get some relevant replies in this section  Wink

I had an arbitrage bot for a while, trying to either exploit differences in prices between exchanges or negative spreads. My experience was negative because of slippages (ie: delayed execution) and turned it off with a negligible profit.

Hello,
I was thinking about this. So what if you were to make a copy of your wallet with 10 BTC in it and save it to a USB. Then you send 1 BTC to someone else's wallet. The copy of your wallet shows it as having 10BTC so if you were to put it on another computer and use it as the wallet.dat file, wouldn't that account still have 10 BTC even though you just sent 1 BTC to someone so if you did this in between three computers, you could generate free BTC?

That's called double-spending and does not work within Bitcoin, which is actually one of the reasons why it's suitable as a digital cash:

Re: Information sources for trading bots -- apis, scraping, etc.

What sources of information would be useful to a trading bot on BTC-e? The ticker API seems a bit limited in terms of the information it supplies. Are there other more detailed tickers available? Has anyone put together code to scrape the BTC-e pages?

Do you need BTC-e exactly?

Bitstamp provides a pretty easy to use API:

You can also use it for historical data, using the transactions query with a large enough timedelta, although it's obviously limited only to Bitstamp.

MtGox does the same:

The minimum initial subscription amount for investors is 100 BTC and the minimum additional subscription amount is 10 BTC. An up-front subscription fee to 0.5% of the subscription amount is charged.
