...the knc Jupiter you see in the pics is already a door stop...

So many turned-off miners everywhere. I don't understand why you people are not selling this turned-off hardware, there are places with some dirt-cheap electricity who will surely be interested, it's a shame all that hashing power to be off when it can be of use to the network. The electricity price and difficulty very, very likely will not go down enough for this hardware to be turned on again at their current locations, so selling is a gain for everyone, or I'm missing something?

Even if one had free power, potential profit would quite possibly be ruined by shipping costs of things that heavy.

because they were 750ti, only 50 watt each, they don't need a large distance like amd card, and they weren't so hot btw

Why a n-vidia rig  Shocked ??

750ti is pretty efficient in some matters of hashing. Or, well.. they were some time ago like a year or so?

An Inert gas fire suppression system would ruin ROI for any Bitcoin mine but surely if you spent a few million on SP30's you'd buy a few $5 fire alarms and have a security guard?

I think it's an insurance scam but they forgot to buy any first.

You could fry an egg on top of an SP10 I certainty wouldn't put 2 on top of each other.

They have/had people on site.. But agreed, a fire alarm setup with linked firealarms would have been nice.. might have saved a lot of their gear.

You'd think you'd invest in cable ties before investing in fire alarms, no?

Yup.. but again.. you snooze, you loose.. and so they did.

The picture is from bobsag´s hosting facility, he therefore doesn´t own the majority of the shown miners.

It also looks like his thermal engineering isn´t optimised to the fullest extent, as there is a significant amount of unused space in those racks.

Hes already pulling a lot of density. Unless he can somehow duct out all of the hot air, im pretty sure hes capped to capacity due to not having a hot/cold isle containment.

"Mmmm hashrate" indeed...

Mmmm hashrate

Not mine.
QG

So thats where all the money went...

This is a client's, not mine.

There are about ~190 machines total, not sure if all of them made it into the pic.
~855TH .57KW

Humm  487 KW.  At .10 per KW his electric bill alone is 35K per month.  Making about 350 BTC per month. By December that number will be down to 150. Hope BTC doesn't go below $200. Not going to ROI.

Im pretty sure he got a decent discount on that amount of SP's.

This is the picture of my miner which is hidden after the drawer set under my desk in office.
That is 160Gh per board, and no electricity expenses and internet expenses...

Interesting firehazard you got going on there.. :/

Antminers s1 still profitable for you Huh  Huh

Probably solo mining farm

That, and/or someone with cheap power + electric heating of the house.. That setup could be a decent floor heating system or if the heat is sucked into a vent system for the winter months Smiley

You want to leave your miners outside?

I can protect them from the sun so they would be cooler than inside a room, and in winter, middle part of terrace has roof so no problem and water doesnt get there, also i can protect them with something else.

Thing is its impossible to have 2 or more miners inside a room, so much hot....

How is the humidity?

Anyone know of any online cable management classes? Smiley

Its called top of rack switches (or in your case top of shelves) and zipties Smiley

Or, watch some vids from ovh  / hetzner / softlayer.. pretty neat stuff.

PS. 50 Neptunes... bro.. you allright? - thats massive!  Grin

Man where ever i ask they say grindseed is not profitable anymore . IS it  ?
What coin do u mine with them ? I can get couple for 50$ each . Is it worth it ?

Its a gamble.. maybe it is, maybe its not.

yer right it is a gamble...but i'd say its a really bad gamble...everything is exploding now with asic's...really nuffin ya can do cept buy coins...

As I see it, theres two options... You just mentioned the best one - and the one that'll get you in for whatever amount of money you have at your disposal..

The 2nd one is for the guys with a lot of cash. Buy in hard in asics with the best $/ghs ratio and/or w/ghs ratio. With a perdicted ROI date (if you can get gear at a price that gives you one) and make as much coin in profits as possible afterwards.. - then, offload your gear when its not viable at your power costs anymore.. maybe, somewhere in the world it is for someone whos willing to bet on coins gaining value..

How about a panoramic?

damn i have an asic 'boner' crosses legs

how much is all that (braces self may 'swoon')

I really love that rack. Well organised, clean etc. I really hope one day I would have one like that too!

There is one thing that - as a network / dc tech makes he tick. Why the different color of cables? - my OCD hopes its cause some are customer ones and some are your own Tongue

The majority of the "different" cables are, I believe power cables, most of the cat5 cables are red with one rack of blue. But the black/red/yellow ones are breakouts from the server psu's

rack 4 from the right, theres both red and white cables going into the S2's .... *tick tick tick*

couldn't find the "Picture of your mining farm" thread so i guess this will do.

phase 1

Niiice Smiley

Was but the room turned into a furriness hitting 47Degrees, the A/C units are shit anyone any recommendations on cooling that doesnt involve proper DC grade heat extraction and recovery?

Its not hard, work out how much power (energy) you are pulling out and then get the equivalent amount of cooling power.

Heres some ideas to get you going:

Heat is measured in either British Thermal Units (BTU) or Kilowatts (KW). 1KW is equivalent to 3412BTUs.

Most aircon units are measured in BTU's so I'll work in that unit.

Equipment BTU = Total wattage for all equipment x 3.5
Room Area BTU = Length (m) x Width (m) x 337
Lighting BTU = Total wattage for all lighting x 4.25

There seems to be no windows, or people working in there permanently so you can probably leave those calculations out.

Total Heat Load = Room Area BTU + Windows BTU + Total Occupant BTU + Equipment BTU + Lighting BTU

So you need enough aircon cooling to handle that amount of heat.

I'd say on equipment alone you would need minimum 100KW or 350K BTU's of cooling

It only appears that you have two of them, thats max 50K BTU if you have the most powerful (25K BTU) wall-split units, so you would need 14 of them.

Move the lot to Iceland. Cheap power, nice climate, very good high density deployments are possible.
