Re: Bitcoin Fork
by

I think a wait and see approach is the best one to take, I suspect that bitcoin gold is a much smaller deal than the November Hard fork. Watch out for that.

Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin?
by
mazzaneo
on 21/10/2017, 23:35:28 UTC
In the past month bitcoin has increased by approx 50%, Ethereum by approx 10%. I like Ethereum but I dont think it is going to keep pace with bitcoin as an investment, in the short, medium or long term.

Re: ECB President: Bitcoin Not 'Mature' Enough to Be Regulated
by

Super Mario choses his words carefully. He is a clever man. He knows that it is futile to try and regulate Bitcoin, especially right now so his comments are just acknowledging crypto's presence and influence without closing the door on them.

Re: Reasons Why Bitcoin Price Drops
by

ANything from profit taking - somebody bought at a lower price and want to lock in profit. To fear hitting the market, or people finding what they believe to be better investment opportunities so there are more sellers than buyers on some days.

Re: What happens to Bitcoin if Central Banks start issuing their own cryptocurrency?
by
mazzaneo
on 20/10/2017, 11:15:53 UTC
I think bitcoin needs to forge its own course and stop looking over its shoulder at what central banks are doing. The primary difference between bitcoin and central bank issued crypto currency is, and always will be control, borders and community. Central banks want to control their currency, dont want community consensus and will run a currency to the benefit of their country not the world.

I for one have given up fretting about the daily/weekly swings in bitcoin price. If you worry all the time you will go crazy, I cannot make any sense of it, I assume that eventually it will settle down and become more predictable, but untile then - breath.

Re: The future of the paper money
by

I love crypto, but I also think that paper money will continue for a long while yet. While many younger people are happy to "tap their cards" or use other digital payments such as crypto, middle age/older people may not take so kindly to the move.

He might have paid the $20 and saved a few of those BTC's had he predicted the value was going to go where it was going to go. What you must realise is that at the time it probably wasnt a bad deal, he probably got the pizza for close to free.

I am really interested in this, the thing I cant figure out is is this purely peer to peer, as in are there miners - or masternodes, or could someone explain to me what validators and delegates are. I was going through the website but it wasnt clear to me.

Looks like a wonderful piece of work.

I have some of these and as the name suggests they are staking away nicely. It will be interesting to see if they progress anywhere, the same dev has many similar projects on the go - could be a genius move for him when they all take off together, or he may be spreading himself too thinly - who knows. For me nothing much to loose, wait and see. Meanwhile I can dream.

Re: what you think about bitcoin in like 5 years?
by

I think we need not worry about the long term future of bitcoin, there is a strong well invested and passionate community behind it. In 5 years I think bitcoin price will be unimaginable from where it is today.

I dont think this is ultimately the objective, and if this is your only reason to be in crypto you might actually be disappointed sooner rather than later. Yes some people are making money at this right now but like the early internet thats just a side effect.

I think regardless of any rules and regulations there will always be chancers out there who will want to run scams. The best advice I could give is to use your head and do your homework. If something sounds too good to be true, maybe it is.

Is it more wise to invest in Bitcoin or in Ethereum for the next 5 years? What do you think an why?
I think both have a bright future, I think bitcoin is a better investment but Ethereum is a very interesting proposition from a technology point of view. I dont think they are necessarily competing head to head, its like comparing stocks and bonds.

I think the community is strong enough and passionate enough about Bitcoin to ensure its survival. Although there is some uncertainty at present I trust the wisdom of crowds - especially knowing that people have skin in the game.

Re: Why we should rely on bitcoin, if government regularize it ?
by
mazzaneo
on 16/10/2017, 21:27:57 UTC
I think one of the key facts with most cryptos is that they are decentralised and it is practically impossible for a government or other organisation to control them. If governments launch blockchain versions of fiat currencies they may essentially control how it operates but that is not the case with Bitcoin or most ALTS.

I am pretty sure that many people who bought whe BTC was at or near ATH previously thought they might have been too late to the game also. Look back on this OP in a year or two and ask yourself the same question again. I think you should be in good shape, yes we all should have put a few hundred dollars in back in 2010 but hey.

Re: Would you still use Bitcoin if it stabilised at around USD$5000?
by
mazzaneo
on 16/10/2017, 21:19:45 UTC
I would, personally I would like some price stability in BTC because while I enjoy the price rise I see that the volatility also comes with some issues. If BTC were to be locked in at say $5K it might not be a good thing because that implies that it would be depreciating in real value. For BTC to handle inflation it needs to appreciate against fiat.
