Re: Buy now or wait for even lower price?
by
mcguire1905
on 05/02/2018, 23:09:00 UTC
I'm trying to figure out a right time to buy some more bitcoin. I'm having trouble deciding.

Would you buy right now (price over 7K USD) or wait to see if you can get it much cheaper?

I think it's probably going to keep dropping.  But, if you have the money to spare, you could buy a bit now and then keep purchasing a bit more over a period of time.

It's called "Dollar Cost Averaging": By dividing the total sum to be invested into equal amounts at regular intervals in hopes to reduce the risk of incurring a substantial loss resulting from investing the entire "lump sum" just before a fall in the market.

Re: Is holding bitcoin Greedy?
by
mcguire1905
on 03/02/2018, 21:56:44 UTC
Most people now with the rise of bitcoin value, just want to hold bitcoin for as long as they can so that they can maximize their worth. But isn't it a little too greedy to just keep holding bitcoin?
We've all read that story in the school with the moral "Greed is a Curse".
So what if too much greed in bitcoin may backfire? What if, the hodlers end up with nothing?

I think it's good to hold until there is a substantial spike in the price that you would be satisfied with. It's safe to sell and make a profit unless you like to take risks and possibly lose it all -- like the saying goes "a bird in the hand is worth 10 in the bush".

Also, it pays to be greedy but not too greedy! like the saying goes: " Pigs get fat, but Hogs gets slaughtered" .

Re: Bitcoin can be hacked?
by
mcguire1905
on 27/01/2018, 15:04:38 UTC
Computer hacks, phishing attacks and cryptocurrency Ponzi schemes are all common types of cryptocurrency theft. -- This type of hacking is most often seen among users who use cryptocurrency as their preferred method of payment for online gaming, especially online casino gaming, as these types of websites often have insecure security methods and are thus at higher risk of being hacked.

Re: Is Bitcoin Volatility A Bad Thing?
by
mcguire1905
on 26/01/2018, 15:28:11 UTC
I don't think high volatility is necessarily a bad thing -- there is more risk involved but there is also a better opportunity to earn more profits.  High volatility increases the risk of both failure and success.

High volatility can provide almost infinite opportunities to trade the swing. Numerous lesser payoffs in a short period of time may result in more profit than one large cash-out after several years of waiting.

Re: is it a bubble?
by

many people say that bitcoin bubble, honestly I still do not understand what is meant by the term bubble earlier?

until now I am still curious

It is possible that Bitcoin is a bubble -- One sign of a bubble is the absence of rational reasoning motivating buyers; they buy because the asset is going up.
Some say it will ultimately reach 100K before heading towards a major crash. And then its likely to rise again to yet an even higher amount than it was before.

The potential is there. Every cryptocurrency will have its own value based on what it is, what can be done with it and how scarce it is --  The existence of cryptocurrencies makes it possible to give every citizen in the world a stack of gold.

Hi Guys ! What you think about feature of blockchain startups?

Blockchain technology will make the world an even smaller place as it increases the speed and efficiency of transactional activity.

Also, Blockchain will gradually be adopted by central banks and cryptographically secured currencies will become widely used.

Re: Any legit airdrops?
by
mcguire1905
on 25/01/2018, 16:30:34 UTC
Some airdrops are legitimate.  However, If an airdrop asks you to send Eth it is likely a scam as airdrops are always free!
Also if you download their wallet it could be infected with a virus.
Never give out your private keys.

Re: Any new airdrop coins?
by
mcguire1905

I make this thread for new (free) airdrop coins.

I bet a lot of people miss big opportunities (like decred where you get over 1.5 btc for free at that time or node or other coins).

Because not every can look every day at all new threads.

So when you see a coin with a airdrop, than feel free to write it here.
So we will maybe dont miss any airdrop coin anymore.  Smiley

There is a new one here:

Re: could bitcoin be replaced by another crypto currency?
by
mcguire1905
on 23/01/2018, 13:33:15 UTC
Although Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, it does not mean that it will be the ultimate “winner” when confronted with newer technology.

However some things in its favour are:

-bitcoin is the original digital asset which makes it valuable
-there is no leader and therefore no way to stop or change the rules on it
-Bitcoin can be upgraded, meaning that any functionality that has been proven on an altcoin can eventually be added to Bitcoin
-bitcoin is in space, meaning that anyone with a computer and satellite dish can participate in it- doesn't rely on internet
-it has the most developers contributing to bitcoin - 3 times more than the second largest cryptocurrency
-so far bitcoin has survived 9 years and continues to grow

Re: Bitcoin vs Ethereum?
by
mcguire1905
on 23/01/2018, 12:58:55 UTC

Bitcoin and Ethereum are not competitors.  They coexist and solve different types of problems

Bitcoin is a currency while Ethereum is a platform for many non-cash applications and services.

While the Bitcoin community is a lot bigger, Ethereum is less well-known and younger.  However, Ethereum is inflational and the ETH supply is unlimited.  In contrast, Bitcoin is deflational and the amount of BTC ever produced is limited.

Re: Am i too late
by

is now too late to invest on bitcoin ?

If you think it is too late, an important thing to consider is that most of the larger players including: hedge funds, CME, investment banks, pension funds, asset managers, have not even started investing in the Crypto market. Just imagine what will happen when they start coming in.

Re: Why bitcoin so expensive?
by
mcguire1905
on 22/01/2018, 16:20:59 UTC
Bitcoin has become faster and easier to buy then ever before and with the increase in accessibility and popularity, as well as a lot of big companies starting to accept bitcoin as payment, comes the increase in interest and demand from the general public, which the current supply of bitcoins can’t seem to keep up with.  The currency gained traction and so did its price as everybody wanted to own one, therefore increasing the price rapidly.

Re: What age to teach kids about crypto?
by
mcguire1905
on 22/01/2018, 16:02:02 UTC
It is never too early to starting teaching children about crypto and bitcoin.  Teaching children about the attributes of the blockchain is a great idea - such as decentralization, open source code, and peer-to-peer applications - all will be relevant for future generations and years to come. Our global culture is changing and in time, these children will be the sole contributors to the network.
