The crossing of the psychological threshold of 1000 USD was a big deal. Also the subsequent 50% drop. I think now, in 2014 as its stabilized somewhat, there is no "news" to grab headlines. Watch when Amazon.com or Target start accept BTC. You'll get your news!

on 30/01/2014, 03:39:51 UTC
http://prmac.com/release-id-64967.htm

Florida based Mediaspree LLC has released CoinScout 1.0 for iOS, a simple tool to help locate local shops and restaurants that accept bitcoin as payment. CoinScout seeks to to focus on traditional "Brick and Mortar" venues that accept bitcoin. The app uses a virtual compass interface that fixates on the nearest bitcoin friendly venue to guide users as they explore the neighborhood around them. A quick spin of the compass will reveal other merchants who accept bitcoin nearby.

Without a mechanism for responding to increased market demand by creating more currency, there is a fatal flaw.

This is what I don't understand about those who "don't understand" bitcoin. Firstly, bitcoin is almost infinitely divisible (for the number of people on the planet at least)
Secondly, creating more currency in response to market demand is the fatal flaw of fiat! Bitcoin seeks to remedy this.

Re: Twitter rejects ad for bitcoin app due to "adult sexual services policy"
by
mediaspree
on 28/01/2014, 13:52:22 UTC
As an update, I emailed twitter support and they eventually approved the ad campaign. A few hours later it was once again rejected for reason:

"@bitcoinscout, your account is ineligible to participate in the Twitter Ads program at this time based on the Twitter Ads regulated pharmaceutical products, healthcare, and supplements policy."

The data in the app comes form openstreetmaps.org, so technically anyone could add their service that accepts bitcoin be it adult in nature or not. I am surprised they went that far into the app to discover an adult service (or pharmaceutical) accepting bitcoin in their area lol.

Oh well. In the short time I had the ad running it was a terrible cost per action anyway.

Twitter rejects ad for bitcoin app due to "adult sexual services policy"
by

on 27/01/2014, 13:50:10 UTC
Seeking to get the word out about my bitcoin app, CoinScout, I started a twitter campaign to promote a tweet describing the function of the app. Twitter put my account in review and a few days later responded with:

"@bitcoinscout, your account is ineligible to participate in the Twitter Ads program at this time based on the Twitter Ads adult sexual products and services policy."

Now the app really has nothing to do with adult sexual services. It's an app to find local places that accept bitcoin as payment. (you know, burger joints and dry cleaners, not hookers lol)

Here is the app (for iOS):
https://itunes.apple.com/app/id793484994

and the tweet I was promoting
"Discover Local Places That Accept #Bitcoin As Payment. Install Now FREE itunes.apple.com/app/id793484994"

What do you think? Justified rejection? Not the real reason it was rejected?

Coin Scout - Bitcoin compass and maps to find local places that accept Bitcoin
by
mediaspree
on 17/01/2014, 00:48:53 UTC
Coin Scout is a simple tool for discovering local shops and restaurants that proudly accept bitcoin as payment.

Find nearby merchants, bars, restaurants and services with ease. The rotating bitcoin compass points you in the right direction as you make your way towards the venue.

Want to explore the neighborhood? Spin the bitcoin or consult the handy map to discover what's around you. Get directions, websites, and contact info for each venue to check it out before you arrive.

Try out Bit Vision which uses augmented reality to combine your camera and venue information for a powerful bitcoin spending experience.

CoinScout is a must-have for every bitcoin enthusiast.

Re: BTCMaze.com - The Bitcoin Maze - MINI BOARD & 50% GAME ADDED!

So currently in the 50% game one of the boxes is open and unselectable.

Does this mean the other box contains the prize? And if someone were to send .501 BTC they win 1.0 BTC?

Or is this a bug?

Too chicken to risk .501 lol
