Re: Whatever happened to Bitcoin Affiliate Network?

It is hard to understand how people can fall for crazy schemes and buy into cloud mining for unbelievable promises of profit yet a pool that consistently and provably pays out 10% over baseline and where the maximum risk is 2 hours of your hash rate plus your reaction time is feared.

It's hard to believe that you actually fell for this BS..... Roll Eyes

Do you seriously think that a pool can run at a 10% loss on everything they earn? How is that? All you know is what they claim they do - & what they claim is completely different to what they actually do, as has been clearly shown already. Ask yourself, how can a pool consistently over pay it's miners? Where is that payment coming from? Where is the proof that you are getting 10% more on every payment? Where are the stats that clearly show this 10% payment?

It's barely possible to run a pool at a profit under normal circumstances, ask any reputable pool dev, so to run a pool at a 10% loss is impossible unless a) they have more BTC than sense and want to give it away (like their S3's?  Cheesy), or b) It's BS.

Given their history - I'll go for b)

You.re so full of cr*p dogie.
Do you think everyone is stupid?
Do you think that everyone is a law breaking tax evader apart from you?
You are the only person here doing this, and you're doing it with stuff that was given to you for free! You're taking the p*ss mate, seriously.
Are you paying tax on what Bitmain are paying you for your biased reviews?

Stop thinking that you're superior to everyone & that the rules don't apply to you - they do. Most importantly - STOP TRYING TO RIP OFF THE AVERAGE MINER WITH TAX BULLSH*T!!!

I will wait until B1 ships before making a decision.

Exactly my thoughts. If Bitmain don't want to show any stats or give details away, there must be a reason. Better to wait for the batch 1 guinea pigs to post the details when they get them, especially after what happened with the S4  Wink

@ Bitmain:

With the broken promises of updated firmware for S2 users & all the problems with the S4, PSU, firmware, etc, etc - I would like to see some proof that these will actually work as advertised before deciding to buy some or not.

1) Can you post a screen of one actually mining showing hash/error rate?

2) Will these work with all pools, including p2pool, or just a select few as with the S4?

3) Has the firmware been thoroughly tested this time?

4) What version of cgminer is bundled with it?

Thanks.

The question you want to ask is whether its the same controller as the S3, or the kind in the S4. I would imagine it uses the S3 controller, in which case it would act just like an S3 but show twice as many chips/hashes

Thanks, but I don't want to buy something based on what a member "imagines" the answers are, it's a lot of money, so I'd like to know the facts about what I'm paying for. It seems strange that Bitmain don't just answer the questions being asked - it would surely help members decide weather to buy them or not.

Don't think that is too hard to do. Do they have some of them fabbed and running yet?

I'd like to know this too - some info/answers would be nice......

Hi Dogie - As usual another excellent guide  Grin

I discovered your guides whilst setting my my S3's which I now have 30.

Just started with my first S4 - All went 100% smoothly.

Thanks Again for such a great resource that does what it says on the Tin!

Cheers.

New user, registered today, one post - this one.

Oh dear - it is a very sad day when bitmain/dogie have resort to using fake accounts in a pathetic effort to make this piece of junk look good.....

Copy/pasting guides is bad enough bitmain/dogie, but this is really scraping the bottom of the barrel...... Roll Eyes

LOL, the real megahash uses a different name on this forum, and won an S3. LOL, LOL, LOL.

And? Your point is?

Are you against forum members choosing what ever name they desire?

As a pool admin who is a proven liar & who deliberately uploads fake pictures, you are hardly in a position to dictate what names people use.

Concentrate on getting s0br to answer the questions, as is your job  Roll Eyes

+1 to this!

You ARE a CLOWN..
Please shoot yourself in the face A.S.A.P
I got my S3 a few days ago and i feel i don't need to post pics of proof.
s0br was a man of his word and has helped his small community out more than he ever should have..
If you think for one second that people on this forum give two shits about anything you have to say, you have mistaken us..
Please feel free to excuse your sorry ass at anytime..
Enjoy The Day!

I fail to see how someone who posts undeniable facts & figures, with quotes from pool admin showing proven lies & insults can possibly be called a clown. It is clear that s0br & his many aliases is NOT a man of his word, because if he was - all 31 S3's would have been shipped as promised & stated in the pool header. Why are people more upset about seeing the truth than they are about being lied to & conned? The truth hurts sometimes, but rejecting it with childish insults (which seem to be the norm on this pool thread) because it hurts can only be explained by Cognitive Dissonance or shill behavior.
I see by your post history that you yourself have been scammed on a couple of occasions in your short history here - so you of all people should maybe start looking a little deeper as to why that is, and start investigating things a little deeper like others have instead of rejecting & dismissing facts as fiction. It's all there in black & white in front of you, and a lot more besides.

To the admin/s of this scam pool: THE POOL HEADER DESCRIPTION IS A LIE & ALWAYS HAS BEEN - CHANGE IT!!

I admit to only peeking into this thread on occasion and I don't currently use the service. But from I've been reading, things don't look so good.

So is the general consensus that this is just a well-disguised Ponzi or other scam?

I still haven't figured out how BAN can possibly pay 112.5% PPS and giveaway S3s and continue to operate for any length of time. But the answer appears that they simply don't payout as they promise and the S3s never ship.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can not be a Ponzi and payments when working right come every 2 hours, that and the pool does not want you to keep coin with them so not sure how they will scam anyone at the most a few hours or a day of mining but most that have been here any time at all is more than that ahead.

The pool operator has said that this pool is only a small part of his over all plans so I am not sure the pool is where the money will be made. You will find some of this information in the first 5-10 pages of this thread.

excatly when payments are working its a great pool but everyday theres the same promblem of missing payments

This the exact reason I won't mine on this pool at this moment. I don't want to have to babysit my stats to make sure I'm getting paid what I'm owed. I need to be able to trust that pool is not shorting me by accident or on purpose. If they get the problems sorted, I may look into it again.

unfortunately I came to the same conclusion.  I do like all the interface work and the notifications too.  But having to track my work and not having the site up on numerous occasions it upsetting to me.

I get the idea that for s0ber the Pool is not his/her fulltime gig yet either.

I will continue to watch the board postings here and check the dashboard too.  If it becomes stable I'll move my multi-terrahashing operation back.

Yup, I'm out too. Not only for the reasons above, but also due to the spew of unanswered/ignored questions, lack of attendance/diligence by s0br, the lies by Phwner, as well as the ridiculous & childish remarks/picture posting by the numerous aliases/shills/sock puppets here - it's like being in a playground of 2 year olds at times.

I've given up on ever getting the S3, as everyone else here has too I think - what a complete con that was/is - the fact that it is still advertised in the header is just more shameless lies to add to the list. The tipping point for me was the thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769417.0

Where it is made clear that this kind of manipulation can only be done on a pool using PPS (which BAN recently changed to - not from), and is also generally regarded as an unsustainable payment system in itself, let alone adding free hardware, bonuses & no Tx fees into the mix - it just doesn't add up. There are many other pools that not only pay better & on time, but also have an excellent support system in place where you get an answer either instantly or the same day - none of this ghash style "send us a support ticket" crap - I require completely open & transparent support. Nothing close to that exists here I'm afraid, quite the opposite in fact.

I'm done here.

Re: Bounty for the confirmation that stratum modification works

virtually all pools have abandoned this dangerous option.

BAN changed over to PPS, and there have been a constant stream of complaints from miners there (me included) about not getting paid the correct amount - possible connection? If PPS is so dangerous, why would a pool change over to it?
There's no doubt that it's a drawcard to miners because of the lack of variance in pps mining, making it a good way to attract miners. But history has shown that it is unsustainable in the long run no matter how large a pool is (even f2pool aka discus fish will eventually drop it I'm sure). It's a lot like the "doubling" odds people take on coin toss, red/black roulette odds etc - the fact is that eventually there will come a time that the odds will be so bad for you that you lose. Even if you were the entire bitcoin network, it might be impossible to safely run PPS indefinitely. OOC did an analysis of it a while ago if I recall correctly saying how much the pool operator had to have in reserve to run PPS and the associated fees required to make it sustainable according to risk. Pools that ran SMPPS thinking it was safer basically realised it was not and abandoned that in favour of a less risky payment system. I can't find the PPS link right now but here's the smpps discussion:
http://organofcorti.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/32-risks-of-smpps.html

Interesting, thanks. Is there any way to find out if a pool is using a modified stratum implementation, apart from asking the pool dev? I'd ask BAN myself, but they seem unable to answer even a basic question.......

@ aurel57 - do you also work for this pool?

Why are you so aggressive?  We only want what we were promised, that is what bought us here. Calling people names for asking normal questions is not fair.....we have waited for a long time with no contact at all.

To answer your first question: No

OK. If you do not work for the pool, please don't speak for them. I want information from people who are running the pool. As far as I can tell, that would be s0br or ThePhwner, even though they both seem unable to answer anything - I would still prefer to get my answers from them. A BAN dev, not a BAN user.

After reading this thread I decided I should join as I'm more than a little concerned about weather I will receive my S3 also.

If BAN have posted these miners they should at least send us proof. Why don't they confirm anything? I'm beginning to think this is all a scam to get us here.....this is a crime!

BAN - post proof!!
