Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins?
by
melody82
on 13/10/2022, 20:09:42 UTC
The streets of cryprto are littered with the corpses of speculators who went altcoin chasing that 50x gain, because btc is too expensive. But if it was that easy we would all be super rich. It is possible to make money in alts, but chances are you will lose. Prove me wrong: show why bitcoins will or will not go up, and why an alt should go up 50x. I think btc is the better safe bet, more an more it is adopted. Altcoins come and go. Most of them have no long term. Some do. But most do not.

I don't care about the short term stuff. It's all too complicated anyways. I just like to keep it simple and hold!

I don't think so. There have been two main parts of bitcoins, before and after institutional investors got involved. Before someone with 100k was a whale, after you have funds managing billions start to buy. You can see this in the price and volume history, and also with looking at news if you care to look back. But I don't think individual billionaire investors move the price by themselves. I think that they may help move the price, but there is just too much money in the market these days.

I think that because it swings so much, btc is better as a long term investment. It is going more places than before, more people are buying and using it. So it should go up long term. But, everything has risks so watch your eggs and baskets and all that stuff.

Re: Elon Musk is one of the keys to be 100k$ per Bitcoin?
by

You could argue that he is bad for crypto in general, because of his doge stuff, which if some of us normal people did we would be in jail. But if you have the good lawyers and the money you can do anything you want, including pump and dump fraud. But on the positive side, more people become aware of bitcoins because of him, even if they might get the impression that it's all a scam. I don't think Elon is helping us. Elon only helps Elon.

Yes this topic has been done to death here, but, while were are talking about it, I think the most likely candidate is Nick Szabo, but also maybe a team of people calling themselves "satoshi". Who knows for sure? only Satoshi.

Yes it is not going anywhere and only getting bigger. Despite the constant fud pooped out by the media, many people are waking up to the crypto world for more than just get rich quick schemes.

Hi please please don't ever use your private key, for online, it will steal your funds. If you aren't sure, spend more time learning. If someone sends you a private message, be cautions. If they say they can help, just give your private keys, report them for scams.

Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!!
by

Well I think the halving will be bullish, but the price of bitcoins is always so crazy that its like impossible to predict what will happen! I think up, and maybe up a lot! Getting near to it, there will probably be fomo that boosts it more, but you never know what will happen until then, like governments banning it or something like that. Who knows!

Hi, it seems that you are new to all this. All of us were at one time or other. I suggest don't jump in to anything too much before you learn a bit about crypto. Like others said, electrum is really good. I don't suggest that you hold your coins long term on an exchange, they tend to get hacked once in a while. It's safer to hold them in a cold wallet (if you do it right). For larger amounts, many people like to use a trezor or ledger wallet, but that's probably overkill for most of us. There is no hurry, its not going anywhere. Take your time and learn a bit before jumping in. it's not a get rich quick scheme (although I think bitcoin will go up long term). Don't get caught by a scam. And NEVER give away your passphrase to anyone. The bitcoin isn't really stored on your computer. You might think it is but anyone with your pass phrase can take the bitcoin from any where in the world (probably even the space station if they have internet lol). Good luck!

Not sure exactly what you are getting at, but I think of it in long terms, don't worry about the short term markets. Take a look at what bitcoin is, and how it is evolving, and make your decision on whether or not you want to own some. For me, yes I like it in general, and I think it is worth having some, especially in light of how money in general is printed and invented out of thin air. And yes the merit system is weird, but unless you are doing sig campaigns, it doesn't really matter that much, so just post and have conversations, and hopefully you will eventually get some merits. But begging for some, even if you pretend you are not, isn't really a good look, and probably won't get you any merits.

Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again
by

I would sell everything and buy bitcoins. Everyone would. So it will never reach that price. It's too late for all that. The last time it was 3000 was the last time you could get it "cheap". Now we are looking at the future, at institutional money, and eventually it should become less volatile. But who knows?

I just assume that nothing is safe, and therefore would never trust anyone with my password or anything. Stay safe and don't give your wallet info to strange websites! But as others have said, they need your password right? I don't know, I would never connect my wallet to a site like that.

I wish it was so easy that I could just turn on a bot and make all the money. We can all dream right? For me I think the better strategy is probably just buy and hold. Other wise I am just chasing losses.

Re: My Favorite Misconceptions About Bitcoin
by
melody82
on 29/09/2022, 23:45:29 UTC
All of these things are misconceptions that I hear all of the time. The biggest misconception that I hear that drives me nuts is that bitcoin is anonymous and is mostly used for illegal activities. There’s been a number of studies from very affluential outlets that have done on chain analysis that have dispelled this myth time over time; but yet we keep hearing this nonsense.  I’m hopeful it fades away as time goes on.

Yes, I think the news has made too many stories about bitcoin for crime. I think probably it is not very anonymous for governments who know how to find the right info. Regular money is better, because the block chain is public and permanent, there is no way to track dollars sitting somewhere hidden in a basement.

Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th
by
melody82
on 28/09/2022, 22:51:31 UTC
Personally I think all of the jake Paul fights are staged. Go back and watch, it looks to me like his opponents are really holding back. There is a world of difference between athletic guys and champions. Jake Paul doesn't belong in there with the top guys. Just my opinion though. One thing I do like is that some mma guys that didn't really get paid during their mma careers are getting some big paydays from a glorified workout with Paul. Can't complain about that. And if people like this stuff, and want to be entertained, I have nothing against that either. If I was to bet, I would bet on Paul to win, because I think that is the predetermined outcome, but, I can see Silva accidentally pooping him one and getting the ko, so I don't think I will actually bet on the event.
