Now, if you happen to make/have made a significant amount of coins, don't run around telling everybody like the self-satisfied vagina that you are. You wouldn't do that with real money either. At least I hope so.

LOL

Also, you'll look dumb when it drops from 245 to 80.

It is better to have many crypto-currencies competing on features (and there are some), but what's the point of an identical copy?

I heard there was going to be scaling problems. That the bitcoin network won't be able to handle more than x transactions per second, and it needs to be able to handle y transactions per second to compete with VisaCard. I also heard that if Bitcoin becomes the only dominant currency in the world that people would live their whole lives on only .003 btc or some such...

well... this strikes me as a solution to both problems...

Well, they will have to make changes if it gets super popular.  And they need to test those changes first to make sure they aren't going to lead to an unknown error.... so I suppose they could test things on bytecoin.
The prob is bytecoin is super shady and obviously just someone playing a joke/scam.
That's fine, but the name is so similar to bitcoin I worry it would cause problems

Is easier than that... Just go to online sha512 encoder, put a word you can remember... Then go to online sha256 encoder and paste the sha512 code... Now go to blockchain.com import/export/add new private key and paste the sha256 code... Now erase the bitcoin adress and there you had, an ultra secure adress than you can remember and access without wallet.dat o pappel copy.

That is pretty hardcore! Smiley

In such a highly volatile market, never ran out of cash, I mean, USD cash. When in the market begin a panic, you can find a good chance to earn money. I used to buy BTC with all my planned cash, but it was proven a bad strategy.

I don't know if I could sleep at night knowing I have lots of cash in Mt Gox !

I think, it's good that there is an equivalent alternative to bitcoin and I support it with mining. Why there should be only one big crypto currency?

It is better to have many crypto-currencies competing on features (and there are some), but what's the point of an identical copy?

I think there is tons of room for an identical copy, but only if the developers of bitcoin where in on it.  The "testnet" is not enough to try out major changes to bitcoin... there needs to be something identical, that is maybe 10% as popular, to test out big protocol changes BEFORE adding it to main bitcoin.  The only way to do that is on an identical "coin" , but if the bitcoin dev's aren't going to do this, then yes its a waste of time

Only legit alt currency I have tried is NAMECOIN, it actually adds new ideas and code, was innovative etc. the rest are minor changes by people who don't even understand bitcoin or why it is the way it is

I personally doubt the alt coins, but can't hurt to get in them too

Just don't abandon BTC, It is still incredibly early yet, I wouldn't be shocked for BTC to be $1000 in the next 5- 10 years

We have a third chance to make it better with TRC - and maybe are the lucky early birds this time ;-)

Re: Serious Question about investment

I have about 150.000€-300k I could invest in the BTC, where I could handle the risk. Would you guys do it? Serious answers please since I'm seriously considering. And where would I go on about such a large sum? MtGox? Thanks in advance

If you know you won't panic when the price drops 75%, and can hold on to it until it rebounds, yes by all means.
But if you will keep looking at the graphs and tickers every day ... and drive yourself nuts.... then perhaps not!

maybe my eye's arent as good as they used to be, but I often can't tell the difference between .002 and .0002 at a glance....   I think when 1=BTC is $10,000 USD this will be more of a problem!

6000 bitcoins? wow

we'll, you're still an early adopter! welcome back

hi everyone - thanks for your welcome !

I know bitcoins since 2009 - read about Wikileaks and that their accounts are closed and that someone created a kind of game-money to send them something. I thought that this is a kind of donation and that I only have to buy some to send my donation to Wikileaks so I looked around and found about 5 or 6000 bitcoins on ebay for about 30,- Euro -- bought them thinking to donate Wikileaks and forgot them ..

i dont think you are getting the point. there is no need to reinvent the wheel and come up with (random?) denominations. we should use the kilo, mega, giga system because people can already easily relate to that
[/quote]

I don't know many people who would feel comfortable using kilo, mega, giga for coins... average people....

another idea:

0.00000099 = 99 bitcents

0.00000100 = 1 bitnote

0.90000000 = 900,000.00 ( nine hundred thousand bitnotes )

0.01 BTC = 10,000.00 ( ten thousand bitnotes )
