A simple answer is marketing and maturity.

When a huge corporation officially backs Bitcoin and publicly makes it obvious that Bitcoin is a big player (for example, placing a Bitcoin symbol or "Bitcoin accepted here" banner on the main site or checkout area), I have no doubt it will become way more publicized and used than it is now. I'm annoyed by companies saying they support Bitcoin, but it ends up being something that's just left hidden someplace that no one can seem to find. Just look at sites like Newegg (I think they support Bitcoin? I'm not even sure. Maybe, it was just allowed once at a promotion.). If only they place the Bitcoin amount along with the USD, just imagine the amount of interest generated for Bitcoin. People will then find out through their research or through other people including friends and family who did their research or got their info somewhere else that there are a load of benefits to using Bitcoin. Three particular attractive benefits are instant transactions, very low fees, and immediate and easy usage.

For most people, Bitcoin is interesting, but it's boring, and no one really cares for it. People are comfortable already using cash and their credit cards. Why would they even consider this when they are already happy using what they already have? The way to break this mindset is to make it the next hip thing. That means famous youtubers and large companies promoting it as well as respected and known writers/columnists writing big and continuous stories for it. By doing this, people will begin to recognize and accept the benefits it provides over fiat money.

Bitcoin shows that it is not yet mature enough. It seems most people who hear of Bitcoin read stories about how someone hacked and stole a large amount of Bitcoin that is worth thousands of dollars. People don't yet trust it because it hasn't been around long enough and hasn't really been seriously supported by big players. Everyone is comfortable using fiat money because they have been exposed to it their entire lives. They trust it and feel comfortable around it. National currencies have been around for generations. It's their way of life.

Bitcoin is a form of money, just like the USD, that can be used to exchange for things like goods and products. The difference is that currencies like the USD is affiliated to a particular state (for USD, it would be the United States), while Bitcoin has no official affiliation to a particular state. Bitcoin is in the family of digital currency or more appropriately crypto-currency that is controlled by cryptography, allowing it to be untouched and unregulated by a particular political or financial entity.

So yes, Bitcoin is a currency which is a form of money.

The HYPERGG site that shows the live statuses of the various game servers will be back up soon. The plan is for it to be up by the end of the weekend. I will be making some changes before it is re-deployed. I will also re-deploy the simplehyper.info offline paper wallet as well.

The open source projects other than simplehyper.info have been discontinued due to lack of activity. I will be re-starting more open-source projects when I have more time or if more ppl are interested in helping out.

Wow, this is pretty terrific! I love the initiative to get HYPER into more games. The game concept looks promising. I also love the text-based game screenshots from CryptoDatabase. As someone who have worked with Unity and alongside designers, artists, and musicians, I have a soft spot for game developers. Great job!

I also have some important news for everyone. See below:

The team behind the development for the anonymous web wallet have decided to put the project and any further announcements on hold for an indefinite time. Along with full-time jobs and other commitments, just two people without much free time working on this rather complex application is very tedious. I know for me, being part of the HYPER team is a passion of mine. I'm sure many of you share the same sentiment. This project is not a make-and-scrap project. It's a project that's in it for the long haul. What motivates me is what I believe HYPER can become and not so much on any profits (if any) that can be made.

We have come a very long way and learned a lot. While working on the app, things got pretty wild with the codebase and stylesheets. So, we will be starting a complete rewrite of the application using the best practices and a professional workflow. With just two of us working on this atm, we hope to bring the web wallet to you as soon as possible. But, I can't and will not make any promises (or make any big reveals) until I am sure that we can deliver. I will keep you all posted. I highly encourage any developers to join the HYPER team and help build the HYPER infrastructure. We seem to be lacking devs. I can't work on the open source projects (on top of the web wallet) by myself. There are many exciting projects that can be done for HYPER. I have the utmost respect for passionate devs who do what they do because they are passionate about their craft. There is nothing wrong with using the native wallet API via RPC. However, there are benefits to using the web wallet's API. Three reasons being better and easier usability, 0 txn fees when sending/receiving HYPER with other users, and obfuscation of external transactions. The API is in the timeline. I'll let you know more details as it gets started.

Also, the hypergg.com and simplehyper.info websites are currently down. I will put them back up with changes once the web wallet test version is ready which I hope will be ready within a month.

It will be ready soon. I have a huge list of people who are interested in testing, and I put you on the list. It's getting really close. The only other person helping me with the development through design is away in another country at the moment. I may be able to release a testing version of the web wallet for internal transactions shortly. Just have to finish up a few issues. There are actually two separate applications that work in conjuction with each other. Thanks for being patient!

The web wallet development has been in a little bit of a stall because I have been very busy with some other things. I completely understand where HYPERfuture is coming from. Life can get quite busy. 

I will release an update with the web wallet soon! By the way, if there are any devs out there, you should join the HYPER open-source github organization. Just PM and I can add you. There are a lot of great potential HYPER projects. If you want to flex your skills or just learn development, this may be a good opportunity for you.

It depends on the pool. You can probably find the info somewhere on their site. If not, get a hold of the pool admins.

I would agree with kernik. Don't focus too much on trying to merge all your inputs together. Just make sure to do some housekeeping maybe once a month or so. If you constantly try to merge and send yourself coins daily or a weekly basis, I think you may lose out more than just leaving your coins alone from the fees. Also if you merge inputs that have good age, you will lose all that age when you have merged them, thus making you lose out even more. I would just honestly leave your coins alone. After every month or so, combine all your small HYPER with low age together.

Yeah, that makes sense. I forgot that pools set a limit. 

Yeah, you can do that if you want. I am guessing the multipool using an exchange like bittrex behind the scenes to convert your mined coins into HYPER. I'm not sure if doing the exchange manually is "easier (although more time consuming)". After all, you are proposing the manual exchange method to speed up the conversion in the first place. I would describe it as opposite. It's probably not as easy but less time consuming than waiting for the multipool to auto-convert. I haven't used the multipool, but it seems from what you are saying that the multipool takes a long time to convert your mined coins to HYPER.

Anyway, yes, you have the option to manually convert your coins into HYPER. I think it also gives you a little more power and flexibility to choose when and how much to convert to get the best bang from the market.

Make sure to leave your wallet on to be eligible to receive stakes, although your coins do gain age even if your wallet is off. You should at least receive one stake daily (one stake per block/input of HYPER you own). Also if you have 1 HYPER, you may not earn a stake b/c you just don't have enough to increase your coin age over time to warrant a stake to "compete" with other stakers. If you leave your wallet off, make sure to turn on your wallet once every 30 days, since 30 days should guarantee a stake no matter how much HYPER you have. It's also possible you may need to combine your HYPERs into one block by sending all your HYPER to yourself, but that's something you probably don't need to do unless you've been receiving really tiny amount of HYPER at a time from someone.

Make sure to leave your wallet on and update the blockchain and see if you have received a stake after you are up-to-date with the blockchain. If that doesn't work, then we probably have a problem.

Staking works yes. It's part of an entirely different system that I'm holding off working on further until we finish the web application and all the logic associated with it (both front and back ends).

@CryptoGelus, I think you are jumping the gun here. To my understanding, there is only one dev that is working on hyperzanda, and I haven't even met or talked with that person. I'm not sure what the state of that particular game is. But to assume that the money that you put in goes to the devs is a complete and utter false accusation. As a dev myself, I haven't earned any HYPER from that game or any other game. I encourage you to discuss this issue you had in a healthy manner. Feel free to message HYPERfuture. He is away at the moment, but when he is back, he should be able to work it out with you. You are also welcome to PM me anytime with any questions you have.

I recommend that you take a look at the following:
1) Hasty generalization - the act of generalizing something based on one's limited experience and viewpoint
2) Negativity bias - the impact of one's negative experience being much greater than one's positive experience
3) Confirmation bias - the tendency to find information that confirms one's beliefs

I'm not sure what HYPER games you've played (I'd like to know what they were besides hyperzanda), but please give me a PM, and we can talk about this. Although I have no control over hyperzanda nor do I have access to its sourcecode, I can do my best to answer your questions or just talk about anything until HYPERfuture comes back. Thanks!

The Rust server has been down for some time. This is a bit odd. I would think Falc0n would let the community know that the server is offline. Falc0n manages the Rust server and the payouts. When Falc0n gets back, I'm sure he will be able to explain.



Maser0, the dev of Hyperpoker, is currently updating the site from the last time we talked. If you go to the registration page, you will notice that registration has been disabled. I'm not sure where he is at the moment.
