Re: Difficulty resets to ZERO after a block is found.

Maybe you don't quite get how Bitcoin actually works. Without an ever increasing difficulty, the block time would not be regulated at 10 mins average. The 10 minute time is important to give all nodes a chance to receive messages across the Internet, p2p, and catch up with the blockchain. Of course, you also want to keep the creation of new coins regulated.

Please note:

loose
[loos]
adjective, loos·er, loos·est.
1. free or released from fastening or attachment: a loose end.
2. free from anything that binds or restrains; unfettered: loose cats prowling around in alleyways at night.
3. uncombined, as a chemical element.
4. not bound together: to wear one's hair loose.
5. not put up in a package or other container: loose mushrooms.

lose
[looz]
verb (used with object), lost, los·ing.
1. to come to be without (something in one's possession or care), through accident, theft, etc., so that there is little or no prospect of recovery: I'm sure I've merely misplaced my hat, not lost it.
2. to fail inadvertently to retain (something) in such a way that it cannot be immediately recovered: I just lost a dime under this sofa.
3. to suffer the deprivation of: to lose one's job; to lose one's life.
4. to be bereaved of by death: to lose a sister.
5. to fail to keep, preserve, or maintain: to lose one's balance; to lose one's figure.

Nice idea. Not really an exchange in the true sense, though,  as it would be to slow.

Hey guys, can we please have a way to set the location from the URL? That would make it super nice and easy to embed, with the starting location being something meaningful for locally-focused websites.

Thanks

I don't see why. The machines have a good chance of paying off and becoming profitable, even at that price and with the current difficulty increase rate. It's really a gamble on the increasing value of bitcoin as much as anything else. I chose not to take the gamble, which is why I sold the machines. If you buy from Avalon direct, you still have to pay for postage and wait however long for them to arrive.

Right, of course. Easy enough to misdirect to a different wallet by 'hacking' the record down river. DNSSEC looks like a good solution to that problem...

Yes, that makes sense, since I think the maximum length of a TXT is 255 chars.

DNS and wallet addresses
by

on 01/05/2013, 02:16:16 UTC
I was just thinking about the possibility of harnessing the conventional domain name system as a means to store wallet addresses such that you could direct a transaction to a URL something like:

wallet.mydomain.com

Could this be achieved using the TXT-type record on the DNS for the subdomain? Would be pretty cool to define a standard for this. The record could contain addresses for various wallet types - e.g.

wallet.mydomain.com. TXT "wallet=btc:1K59yRiX3Vvp2jZyHYDmmzGaGehLFL9aWy xrp:raiE52Ws8wYjh8k93dDDUqq4HwkfPhR6fA"

This seems so obvious that I assume I'm either being stupid somehow, or that this is an old idea, but thought I'd chuck it out there...

Thanks

Hi Guys,

I would like access to the main forums. I promise I am not a troll! Have some thoughts to share regarding bitcoin/ripple, and would like to be able to participate in discussions.

Thanks,
Ben
