Normally miner accounts have a "send threshold" that determines when the bitcoins are transferred to your account. Make sure you have the hit the threshold to have the coins sent to your account before closing the miner account.

There are many strategies for maintaining the integrity and backing up of wallets. I suggest reading around the forums. Much good advice to be found.

My send threshold is set to 1.0 so does this mean my miner has to accrued 1 BTC before I get that into my wallet ?  Could take months !

If I delete my Miner and create a new one will I loose any gained bitcoins ?
If my computer crashes will I loose my accrued bitcoins ?

According to this link you sent me https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#Popular_Mining_Cards the BitForce Mini Rig 'SC' can mine at 1,500,000 Mhash/s. It makes my Quadro_2000 at 26Mhash/s look ridiculous. Also with this Bitcoin Mining Calculator, if I put in 1500000 Mhash's that the BitForce Mini Rig 'SC' mines at. This computer can generate $250,000 per month !? Is this true or have I got my numbers wrong ?

GUIminer gives me the option to use my GPU or my CPU's . It seems everyone talks about using the GPU and not the CPU. why is this ? Should I forget about using my 8 cpu's and instead just use my Nvidia_Quadro_2000

The list of the different miners is that they have different capabilities for different hardware and/or different extensions for mining pools. You may want to check out this wiki page to see how they differ: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_software

Thanks for the link, but it's still not clear to me how to decipher this list. My hardware is a Nvidia_Quadro_2000 and I am running windows8 on a Intel Core i7-3770k.
Which miner would you suggest I pick ?

When I create a new_miner with GUIMiner I get these options:

  New OpenCL miner
  New CG miner
  New CUDA miner
  New Ufasoft CPU miner
  Other new miner

Could someone please explain to me what they mean.

My Miner is not mining?

Hi,
I installed MultiBit and created a wallet. I then created an account with slush's pool at mining.bitcoin.cz in my slush's pool account I created 3 workers. I then installed GUIMiner selected slush's pool as my server and entered my user-name and password. The Device selected in my GUIMiner is my Graphics card (Quadro 2000) and then I have the choice of selecting CPU Affinity, I have 8 cpus to pick. I click start mining but nothing seems to happen. My machine isn't crunching and my task manager shows no activity ? Also the GUIMiner gives me the error of IO errors - 1, tolerance 2

Anyone know what steps I may be missing ?

Thanks in advance.
