We all have hearts
We all have hearts.
That is what helps me the most.
It can be so easy to, for example, see a person taking a long time to check out in front of you in the grocery store, or the big, slow, station wagon in front of you on the highway, and think "If only this person wasn't in my way!". When in reality, each of those people who appear to be just "in your way", are really going through their own struggles in life, and maybe the guy who cut you off while you were driving to work was rushing his sick child to the hospital, and you were in HIS way. We are conditioned, by our own mind, to render life in a way that resolves around ourselves, as if each of us in the center of the universe.

Life is hard. Life is not fair. And no matter who you look at and think they have it "perfect", they do not. Life is hard for everybody, life is not "fair" to anybody, and I believe it is of upmost importance for each individual to realize we are equal in this way, and it is that that makes it so much easier for the individual to deal with their own everyday struggles, no matter how trivial they may seem.

This is a fantastic video/illustration I believe everybody should take the time to watch at least once a week, as a mental reminder,  refresher, whatever you want to call it.

The truly heartbreaking part is this man who gave this commencement speech ended up committing suicide just three years later, however the message he delivers is extremely enlightening and convincing.

Re: Bitcoin Not User Friendly Yet
by
mikehersh2
on 15/10/2020, 19:52:22 UTC
I think it'd be a problem if Bitcoin becomes user friendly, because if it's decentralized it just cannot be.

You're on your own. There's no Bitcoin worker who is obliged to help you with your wallets. You are free to create, deposit to, withdraw or sign from and use an address in any way you'd like - even share the private key to it, if you will. You're just free to educate yourself and, if you're interested, to join the network. Computers aren't user-friendly either. Yet, they're being sold every year "like hot bread" (a Romanian saying).

Let it happen naturally; let the interested ones educate themselves & join us and the non-interested ones stay away. Smiley
I get what you are saying but I'm not sure I see the connection. How does it being decentralized have an effect on how user-friendly it is? I suppose in concept, Bitcoin being decentralized means each user is responsible for the managing of their own wallet/other services, but in my opinion, those wallets and trade services are quite easy to use, and over the past years it has become increasingly cleaner and simple to use. It's definitely true that the concept of bitcoin and how it works is not simple, and does require you to learn and do research on your own. But once you understand how bitcoin works, actually going about sending and receiving btc, for example, is quite simple and in my opinion, far more simple than traditional means of sending and receiving money, especially large amounts. I could be standing next to someone and offer to exchange bitcoin and all I would need to do is scan their bitcoin wallet QR code. Last time I checked, TD Bank would have a much more complicated process Cheesy

Watching the NBA final's last night, and listening to everybody (Adam Silver, Lebron James... etc) speak about the game and what this season has represented, I realized how radically different this season was, aside from the every game taking place in Disney World. It was impossible to watch an NBA game without seeing a message for racial justice, and a push against police brutality, as that was their goal!

I think it's a great thing that they've done, whether it's the changing of names on jerseys, messages painted on the court, pins worn by the head coaches and staff, advertisements... etc.
However, a part of me feels as if they may have gone down a road that they cannot turn back on. What will it take for a team, or an entire organization, to bring things back to normal? Once one team decides to revert to their old jerseys, for example, will the other teams follow suit? Will they face criticism? How will other sports react next season when the NBA continues to integrate the BLM movement into their games?

Personally, I'm surprised to see that leagues such as the MLB and NFL haven't faced any heat in terms of keeping up with the precedent the NBA has set this season in terms of how involved they are with the movement.

NBA Comish Adam Silver said on NBA countdown last week that...
Quote
in terms of the messages you see on the court and our jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time when we began these discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer. My sense is there’ll be somewhat a return to normalcy, that those messages will largely be left to be delivered off the floor.

What do you guys think about this?
How do you feel about what was done this season in general?
What happens next season if/WHEN something happens to spark another push for racial justice, will the NBA feel compelled to resume the messages we saw this past season?

Re: people dont understand vaccine trial dates
by

on 12/10/2020, 19:10:49 UTC
The sad part about this is if this issue wasn't entirely swamped with political bias, it would make the rolling out and administration of he vaccine so much easier.
Unfortunately, the way the media covers the vaccine plays a massive roll in how many people will actually take it and how effective it will be. Because of the pressure the government is facing to roll out the vaccine, I wouldn't be surprised if people are hesitant to take it at all. I mean, people still won't get their flu shots because they think it causes autism for Christ's sake. The widespread distrust in our government and our media will really show itself in this upcoming roll out of the vaccine, and I don't think it will go well.

Shocking to see how something that effects us all equally still finds a way to divide us and cause tension, when we all want the same thing.  Undecided

Although I've been out of the loop recently... I've been in this space for some time.
With that being said, I was looking to get back into trading/investing/earning some crypto in my spare time.

I recently made a Coinbase account to do some trading and to use their services that they provide to new users to earn some small amounts of crypto.

However, in order to "verify" my account, I have to give information such a photograph of my state ID and credit card info.
I'm not one to willingly give away such personal information... is this something I should feel comfortable doing?
I'm aware of the fact that coinbase is pretty much synonymous with crypto-trading, I just need to hear it from the forum first as to why it's a safe move.

Furthermore, if anyone has any other suggestions, tips, or new methods for earning some crypto... I could use some ideas. I'll continue to search around the forum in the meantime. Thanks Smiley

My new 2080TI produce 45.6 h/s, while consuming 1250W on the Cuckaroom29 algorithm. I am very pleased with this, but I would like to see the same growth on ethash, can you do it? Thanks for the work done.

Re: Would a Crypto Based Economy Make Things Safer?
by
mikehersh2
on 25/12/2019, 00:24:59 UTC
Crypto will make some communities more dangerous. With bank cards it's harder to rob someone, because there's a lot of countermeasures like withdrawal limits, added personal verification, and the victim can freeze their card at any moment. But crypto is much like cash, which is why we hear about armed robberies, home invasions and even kidnapping involving crypto. If everyone adopted crypto, criminals would have a much bigger pool of targets. This doesn't automatically mean that there would be more crime, but it can happen if other factors are there.
I totally agree^
Crypto may not make the world a more dangerous place, but it certainly won't make it much safer. With bitcoin, it becomes much more convenient for a criminal to make illegal purchases or steal with full anonymity. Items that one can purchase online via illicit sources/websites are much more accessible with crypto, and we see this manifesting itself in the dark web and other places. Crypto may give the individual user a sense of security, in terms of the safety of their money, but in terms of danger in society, crypto is probably not helping, and if anything, it can enable danger.

Re: How much bitcoin to buy?
by
mikehersh2
on 24/12/2019, 22:47:08 UTC
Definitely a good idea to pull some money out of other investments to spread into bitcoin... especially if you had taken them out of other altcoins. It may be exciting now... especially seeing that the price has been on a slow, but steady decline, that maybe we'll see a slight explosion or atleast some sort of new peak in value. But its the same idea with any other investment, if you put moree money in, you have to be comfortable with losing that investment. If I were you, I wouldn't get too excited or impulsive about throwing more capital into your investment, but to each their own.

Nevertheless... its always good to put your eggs in different baskets, and in the case where bitcoin or any other investments you may have shoot up in price, you are a wealthy or wealthier man Smiley Yet if the opposite happens, you will still have capital in other places. Keep doing research and best of luck to ya!

There is no specific amount that is  "enough"... it is whatever you are comfortable with in terms of the rate of it's growth and how much you can potentially lose.

Even if a substance like this was made illegal to purchase, especially in commercial sport stores, I don't think it would stop someone genuinely looking to cause a deadly explosion in an urban area like New York City.
Lets pretend that this particular substance was banned, and it was "impossible" to obtain without a license or whatever. If it is a compound of two non-explosive materials, can't the individual looking to cause harm with this just purchase those two components repeatedly, and mix it themselves? To crack down on such specific substances like this is difficult, as you never really expect people to do these things until they happen, and that that point it is too late Sad

That must fuckin hurt to actually rotate your own ass-implant inside your body. Furthermore, I would much rather be with a woman with a flat ass than be with a woman who every other time I grabbed her but, a silicon semi-sphere starts rotating around like a spinning top... Re: Do Humans Have Free Will?
by
mikehersh2
on 21/12/2019, 06:05:53 UTC
⭐ Merited by Gyfts (1)
At its root, humans do have free will. In the example you give, the outcome will be completely random if done with multiple participants. I believe each person is wired differently in a unique way, and as a result, each of our subconscious minds will think of a number at random in different ways, some people maybe recalling a common number they use when asked this question, others maybe picking their "lucky" or "favorite" number, and I believe we are all different in this way.
However, I think in many ways, on a grander scale, that we are subconsciously coerced into taking certain paths in our lives where we believe we are doing so with free will, but it is really due to influence from our surroundings/society. For example, a student graduating from high school and picking what college they are going to attend, they believe they are doing so with free will, when in reality there are a large number of factors that go into what college you are attending that is out of your control. Suggestions from a guidance counselor, teacher, or even what school is popular to attend among your peers, all come into play when making this decision. This could be extended to jobs, career paths... etc.
In a simpler example, I've seen examples of this done with crowds of people at lets say a magic show. In this case, the performer would ask the audience to think of a shape within another shape in their mind, along with a color. The performer would then guess off the top of his head a certain combo of shapes, and the audience was amazed at the fact that almost all of them thought of the same set of shapes. They believed they were using free will to think of this combination, when in reality, the performer was drawing particular shapes in the air with his fingers while giving the instructions, and nobody noticed. It was their subconscious mind that allowed them to think of the shapes initially, but all of their subconscious minds were influenced in the same way, just without their knowledge of it.

Re: Did we actually really land on moon?
by

on 21/12/2019, 05:46:54 UTC
I feel pretty much the same after all these years trying to convince myself about this issue.

I know there are many proofs:
Lunar Ranging Retro Reflector (LRRR);
Hammer-feather drop; and
More moon landings.

And then I remember how primitive 60s cars and bikes are, and ask "really?"

It is interesting when you look at the facts about the launch and the mission itself, especially involving the technology that was used to actually get there. For example, they say they used only had 1Mb of memory space to utilize, and the actual hardware was the size of a stack of books. While some conspiracies and youtube videos can seem convincing, especially regarding the post-mission interview which if you haven't seen you it seems very fishy, the facts are undeniable. For example, how can one explain the rocks that have been brought back to the moon, rocks that have been sent to and tested by scientists and geologists nationwide, have never been identified as fakes. So many people would have to be lying, on such a grand scale, for this to be the case.

Re: Jeff Epstein DEAD Commits suicide
by
mikehersh2
on 20/12/2019, 20:25:13 UTC
Given his connections with various elites such as Bill Clinton, Trump, Alan Dershowitz, Woody Allan etc... it is quite possible to see how conspiracies can arise from his apparent suicide.
Yet when looking into the facts, and seeing the darker forms of connections that these elites had with Epstein, it is entirely possible that this was not a suicide, but an attempt to keep someone quiet who knew too much. I mean after all, Epstein and Clinton flew privately together TWENTY SIX times within just a couple of years. And for the security camera in his/leading up to his cell to suddenly malfunction and lose the footage of what happened, makes it even more fishy.
This is not to say that Epstein didn't kill himself, as that is also entirely possible, especially for someone in his situation. However, if news broke that Epstein was in fact killed, I do not think anybody would be surprised.

Re: How can I start earning BTC?
by
mikehersh2
on 19/12/2019, 22:37:38 UTC
There are many ways you could go about this...
There are many similar threads you can find in this section that will give you a plethora of ideas and tactics used to start earning some crypto.
If you do not have much to invest yet, start grinding for some capital. You can do this by either providing any services and getting jobs from people on the forum looking for people with any skills you may possess. You can find opportunities like that in the Marketplace > Services section. If this doesn't interest you, start becoming more involved on the forum... log some hours, make more posts, and earn merit to incerease your rank on the site. That way you have a better opportunity to join a signature campaign that can slowly help you build enough capital to start investing.
From there you can start investing what you've earned, learn some tactics from the Trading section of the forum, and see if you can grow the money you've earned. That was my strategy at least...
Heres a good place to start, this site gives a good list and descriptions of the top trading sites you can use...

https://www.ubuntupit.com/best-cryptocurrency-exchange-platforms/

If you've got powerful enough equipment, you could always look into mining...

If not, you could check out some long-term investment opportunities such as compound.finance...

Otherwise... best of luck to you, the forum is definitely the right place to get started, whether by posting questions or just reading, you can learn a lot.  Grin

Re: POPULATION
by
mikehersh2
on 18/12/2019, 20:57:50 UTC
When most people think of overpopulation, they tend to conflate this with the issue of space, and living comfortably when the population around them is becoming more and more dense. In some places in the world, this unfortunately is the case. Take a look at any drone shot of the streets of Mumbai, where people seemed to be crammed in like sardines, or documentaries on Japanese apartment complexes filled with rooms no bigger than a closet, in some cases, even a cage, due to the amount of available space so limited in those areas.

However, if you look at the global population as a whole, you can in fact fit all of Earth's inhabitants into a space no bigger than the state of Texas, and if piled on top of each other, in terms of just pure mass, it wouldn't even reach the top lip of the Grand Canyon. The real issue when it comes to overpopulation is resources, or "carrying capacity".
Carrying capacity is simply the number of people, other living organisms, or crops that a region can support without environmental degradation. Certain regions of the world have a higher carrying capacity as others, however the real issue lies in the global carrying capacity. As a whole we are increasingly diminishing our resources to the point where they cannot return back to their normal levels. Take a look at over fishing for an example...

This National Geographic article is really interesting and really shows the drastic effects of over fishing

Re: How 18-year old boy became Millionare from Bitcoin
by
mikehersh2
on 17/12/2019, 21:33:24 UTC

Quote from: Eric Finman
"I say if you do not become a millionaire in the next 10 years, then it’s your own fault."

A very bold statement for someone who grew their initial capital almost purely on luck. He did not work hard or grind for this million dollars, he simply was curious about an up-and-coming digital currency and bought some with his family's money. I'm not saying that he is spoiled or impulsive in doing so, but to say that he was driven to become a millionaire within 10 years and did so by working hard seems like BS to me.

Back in middle school I was introduced to bitcoin when it was worth just a few hundred dollars. I had made some profit but a lot of my BTC was spent on steam games and god knows what else. Looking back at my transactions now I see figures like $450 spent on PUBG. Yes its frustrating that I didn't save it all, but I do not blame myself, as at the time I did not have the insight to understand what bitcoin was and how it could potentially grow, how to hold investments and etc. And as smart as this little boy may have been... I doubt he had the insight either, it was just pure luck.
If this boy wants to show off what he has done, then let him, its a fantastic accomplishment and it shows how the changing world is giving people opportunities to cash in who may have not had those opportunities in the past.
But to say it is someone's fault if they don't become a millionaire in a decade is preposterous, as it wasn't even his own "fault" or own-doing that made him a millionaire either.

Re: Where do you stand on abortion? Let's have a civil debate.
by
mikehersh2
on 17/12/2019, 20:16:09 UTC
This is an issue that has been dividing the country for a while, but more so in recent years.

Unfortunately, with the rise of hyper-bipartisanship, people feel the need to immediately side with the argument that belongs on their side of the political spectrum, even if they do not fully understand the implications of what they are saying. People get so heated and animated over this argument, on both sides, calling people who perform abortions MURDERERS and people on the other side saying that the baby is "part of their body, so it is their choice". It is stupid in my mind to have these arguments, as both sides both present arguments that are logical and make sense. There is nothing to disprove, or show using facts, it is purely subjective, and therefore I do not think we will ever find a peaceful common ground when it comes to abortion.

In my personal opinion, I believe if a woman is pregnant and not prepared to have a child, they should make the decision to get an abortion at the very earliest stages, otherwise, just put the child up for adoption. Of course, there lies the argument of how early is early enough, which again, I do not think we will ever find a middle ground for. There's that infamous clip of Ben Shapiro telling the girl who is claiming to abort a "bundle of cells", to which Ben replies that SHE IS technically just a bundle of cells. While funny, he isn't wrong, and it even made me question my own beliefs a little bit.

To conclude, I think Dave Chappelle presented a funny, yet valid compromise to this issue in one of his recent comedy specials...
He says that when arguing about the issue of abortion, men should stay out of the discussion all together. This is purely a women's issue, it is their body, we should not be the ones to decide what they are and are not allowed to do with the child they are bearing. HOWEVER, in the case where a woman has the ability to choose whether or not she wants to keep the baby, we as men should have the ability to decide whether we want to pay for the child or not!

Arguments over abortion are a waste of time, as you will rarely change anyone's mind about the issue. All it does is create unhealthy debate and drives a wedge between the right and left.

If you are a programmer/ android app developer, and you’re looking to find a project/freelancing job on this site... take a look at the Services section of the forum.
Bitcoin Forum > Marketplace > Services

You may find someone looking for someone like you, but you might have to do some digging/asking around.
In terms of actually trying to profit off of your bitcoin I would also suggest you learn through the forum/videos, and you’ll be able to find different approaches from different people and maybe you can find one that appeals to you.
