For the S17 with no auto-tune, what's the best way to approach?

So far, I've been starting with 19.4V/725M, then lowering the chip frequency on the reds by 2. Really laborious, and I'm only seeing about a 5% bump in speed. Is there a better way? Will the new firmware be released soon to handle autotuning?

Haha, looks like that WAS the way to go.

Got a 50TH S17 to a stable 66TH. Even with the 3% fee, that's almost 30% increase!!! Amazing.

Yes, used escrow, deal went off without a hitch. If you go to his store's telegram (posted here), there's a link to the OPs contact. He's pretty responsive through that.

I've dealt with OP on Telegram - I actually purchased 10 of the L3+s. Shipping took a while, but all came and work as expected.

My understanding is that OP is the middleman on these deals. I told him I was interested in the L3s, he put me in touch with the seller, and we worked out the details.

Just guess how I feel when I think about that miner and my 16A/230V circuits.   Grin

I'm kicking myself for not installing 30A instead of 20A. A larger subpanel with 5x30A is infinitely better than the 5x20A I have... except for the heat and noise. Smiley Lesson for people jumping into the mining world: more power is always better than less power!

Wow, I can't wait to see the pricing.

The 55TH @3500 will be almost maxing one of my 20A/240V circuits (3840 usable)!  Shocked

Received a deposit from the building from BenRickeret, sale is pending. No other offers will be looked at during this time. Also please stop arguing on my post about bitcoin miner profitability just go to  www.cryptocompare.com if you want to know how much a s9 makes...

Congrats!

Since this seems like a swipe at me, I would just like to apologize for trying to set the record straight, since HardwareCollector's numbers are incredibly deceptive/wrong for anyone looking at this thread. Without actual numbers on the S9/hashrates, profitability on this deal varies WILDLY. I was not trying to argue S9 profitability, I was trying to understand his estimates, which seem completely off-base.

I did a ton of analysis of this deal, and I reached out to you on two simple questions, which went unanswered. If the numbers made sense, I would have jumped on it, but I didn't have solid data to go on. I wanted to understand HardwareCollector's numbers because a profit of 3500-4250/mo is obviously one that I would have given you 50k immediately for.

The monthly net profit would be somewhere between $3500-4250/month based on 12.5 TH/s average per S9 and 504 MH/s per L3+. That’s assuming BTC exchange rates continues to fluctuate around $7k/BTC and network hash rate stays the same.

How do you figure? Just trying to work out your math.

Your numbers/assumptions:
 * 105 12.5TH S9s gets you .00048BTC per day per unit = $10584, assuming $7k/BTC (105 x .00048 x 7500 x 30)
 * 2 10.5TH T9s gets you .0004BTC per day per unit = $168, assuming $7k/BTC (105 x .0004 x 7500 x 30)
 * 12 504Mh L3+s gets you .00025BTC per day per unit = $675, assuming $7k/BTC (105 x .00025 x 7500 x 30)

That gives you a total current revenue stream of $11427/mo.

In the initial post and the electric bill posted, the current cost is $12206/mo (11206 + 1000 rent).

Where are you getting $3500-4250 in profit/month?

FWIW, that's not at all the projections I used when I modeled this. I looked at 50 14TH S9s and 55 11.5TH S9s, looked at logarithmic growth of network difficulty - which matches the historical growth, and I used multiple pricing models to calculate the cost of BTC over time. That being said, its *still* moot because we don't know the actual models and number of each - which make a HUGE difference when calculating revs.

I pinged you over PM, but for the sake of those interested- what are the hashrates on the S9s, and how many of each model do you have? That drastically changes the revenue calculations.

Thanks for the reminders. I have bought/sold on here before without pics, but there was more of a frenzy a few months back (and I was dealing with more desirable machines).

Regardless, I just added some pictures.

I have run these almost continuously since the winter. I have shrouds attached so that I can properly vent the air. These things are workhorses, but they take up more electricity than I can spare atm.

2 of the M3s are from the late December batch, with no integrated PSU. The third is from the mid-March batch, and comes with an integrated PSU.

Entertaining offers of BTC or trade.

Only US pls - shipping from NJ. Happy to use escrow.

Pics for proof

The two older M3s:

External PSUs:

Proof of hash rate (only have one running right now because of power restraints):

Edited since there was zero interest in the initial post.
Edited a second time with pics.

Just going to throw this out there, since I was surprised to see the title. I didn't read the entire flame war, but I have done a deal with VirosaGITS recently, so I feel I should speak up.

He was trustworthy, helpful, and the deal went through without a hitch.

I sold him a miner, and given his trust profile and the price that I was selling at, I took him up on his "self-escrow" offer. I know that's not *actually* escrow, but I figured that I didn't have that much to lose. He had reputation to lose. He also was very easy to talk to, and we spoke quite a bit before he actually got the miner. I felt completely at ease, and the transaction was smooth and painless.

This forum is rife with scammers. VIrosaGITS is not one of them.

Might be a shot in the dark, but any chance of .4BTC for 3 of them? Looking to max out a 741 controller...

Don't mean to clutter up the thread, but I can't PM you bc of my newbie status.

We are close... I could probably do ~0.45 BTC but would like to get my money out of them... Looks like they are still selling for about $2k on eBay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-Miner-741-Canaan-7-3-TH-S-Controler-On-Hand/173114944318?hash=item284e746b3e:g:7EgAAOSwQiFaZgyl

Can you shoot me a PM an email/something to discuss or allow PMs from Newbies?

They are $850 in stock through Canaan. Am I missing something?

Where? Canaan doesn't sell one offs, they sell through distributors. 741s are end of life and there are basically none available at any distributors.

This forum needs a sticky for noobs on how to avoid scams  Cheesy

It does. I took a shot knowing that I could potentially lose the shipping costs. The guy has the audacity to keep updating the post AS he's actively ripping people off.

My point is that everyone says "escrow" "escrow" "escrow" and you're not really protected unless you escrow it all... and use a reputable 3rd party.

Warning - escrow EVERYTHING - anatomy of a scam
by
mikez_nj
on 24/01/2018, 18:46:02 UTC
Not just the cost of the miners you purchase. Escrow shipping as well.

A thread like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2757777.0

Seems normal, and the buyer says he accepts escrow - which he does... but requests shipping charges upfront. He will charge you for shipping per unit, and if you purchase more than one unit, that can add up.

Once you pay the shipping, and tie up your bitcoin in escrow, he moves on and stops responding. If you use a service like EscrowMyBits, your BTC is tied up for 7 days and you pay the 1% escrow fee. Additionally, by locking the thread, he can keep out bad reviews.

Scammers abound, but remember: escrow EVERYTHING. Do not pay ANYTHING up front.
