Update from mine77 pool: all of the back payments have been broadcast from blocks 8570 - 8726, and should appear in your pending balance or payment history on the mine77 site. A total of 14,102 IRD was sent for the mined blocks that were not correctly credited to miners. Thanks for your patience while I did the accounting!

Dev, with all due respect you seem to be rather disengaged from your project. There have been ongoing problems for more than a day now, yet all we have from you is one post 12 hours ago (and more than 12 hours AFTER the blockchain got stuck) saying that the pool operators need to restart / resync, and the code needs fixing.

I have to agree. What I can share from the mine77 pool server logs is that people are mining blocks, but then the iridiumd daemon is rejecting them. It seems very similar to what is reported here from another CryptoNote coin, as the sequence of messages in my daemon log are the same (too-big-block, then repeated block not accepted due to bad tx).

Code:
DAEMON 2017-Sep-19 19:00:06.899784 INFO [Blockchain] Block is too big: 25507 bytes, exptected no more than 25199 bytes
POOL:: 2017-09-19 19:15:52 (Thread 2) Error submitting block at height 8305 from xxx@xxx, share type: "trusted" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}
DAEMON 2017-Sep-19 19:15:52.326135 INFO [Blockchain] Block has at least one transaction with wrong inputs:
POOL:: 2017-09-19 19:18:17 (Thread 2) Error submitting block at height 8305 from xxx@xxx, share type: "valid" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}
DAEMON 2017-Sep-19 19:18:17.977028 INFO [Blockchain] Block <4eb47cab000946155c1d5ccf171c2aa5caaa7db29eecfb3246f5bd187fdd0221> has at least one transaction with wrong inputs:

Blockchain has stalled, I'll be contacting pool operators shortly to work on the issue. Smiley
I think a simple restart should fix it, but there is an underlying issue in the code that needs to be fixed.

I've restarted the daemon and resynchronized mine77's blockchain per dev's request.

mine77 seems to have banned me.

Code:
Stratum - Connected (SSL/TLS)
Error in server response
: {"id":1,"jsonrpc":"2.0","error":{"code":-1,"message":"yourIPisbanned"}}
Stratum - reading socket failed 10038, disconnect
 Job timeout, disconnect, retry in 2 sec...

Any idea what's going on?

Hey there, like IRD-PoolOperator said, this an automated (and temporary) action taken by the pool software to protect against DoS attacks when invalid or duplicate shares come in. However, in this case, the pool software was being a little aggressive because it sees everyone coming in on stratum+tls as coming from the same IP address. One person mining over stratum+tls crossed the invalid share threshold, likely due to a hardware issue, and it lumped all of you together and banned all of the TLS miners at once. Sad

So that's my bad. I've adjusted things so it won't do that again.

I am taking mine77 stratum's ports offline again. Dev msged me and asked me to put it back up, and I did for an hour or two, but despite being able to solve a few blocks earlier, the pool software is now receiving errors when blocks are solved and they are not accepted by the blockchain. Miners, please mine at irdpool in the interim, perhaps when their blockchain progresses we can resynchronize.

Code:
2017-09-16 02:04:53 (Thread 1) Error submitting block at height 6875 from ir2rQ...@198.x.x.x, share type: "valid" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}

I actually cannot solve this issue since it's not on my end, but the miners...
I don't know how an invalid transaction has worked its way into pools but I can't solve it without having a large majority of hashing power.

I am not sure what to think. I just resynced the blockchain and threw some NiceHash at mine77 at my own expense, and was able to mine a few blocks, but mine77's view of the blockchain is not converging with either globalpool or [Suspicious link removed]. I am keeping mine77 stratum servers offline (so as to not waste anyone else's hashpower) until there is some clear resolution.

Something seems wrong, as the daemon is not accepting blocks that my pool members are mining. I'm temporarily shutting down mine77's stratum ports as a precaution so as to not waste people's hash power-- hopefully another pool can successfully mine a block and get things moving?

Ah phew, haha. Okay, I guess all the trouble is over now. Time I got back to working on the website then.

Deployment glitches aside, it is good to see the new transaction limits working! The old version would never have allowed a 21KB transaction to go through.

mine77 said he's shut down the site until things are sorted out, which they are now. It'll probably be back up tomorrow. Smiley

Mine77 has been updated to the latest daemon and is running smoothly now. We are back to finding blocks and they are getting accepted!

If the error is at pool side, the latest update might have changed the block format in any way that the pool code doesn't recognize it?

LOL, like this in cryptonoteconfig.h?

Code:
const uint8_t  CURRENT_TRANSACTION_VERSION                   =  2;

I've turned off mine77 until this gets sorted out, I was able to restart the pool by patching the cryptonote-utils npm module but even when blocks got found they weren't accepted by the network, so I'm not going to waste people's hashpower:

Code:
2017-09-14 15:49:41 (Thread 1) Error submitting block at height 6355 from ir2...., share type: "trusted" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}
2017-09-14 15:49:43 (Thread 1) Error submitting block at height 6355 from ir2...., share type: "trusted" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}
2017-09-14 15:57:09 (Thread 1) Error submitting block at height 6355 from ir2...., share type: "valid" - {"code":-7,"message":"Block not accepted"}

Error: Failed to parse block

Mine77 is having the same error right now, the pool is temporarily offline.

Yeah not really, nethashrate calculation is tad wacky, it's probably not calculated right.
One could say that it is wacky by design. The network hash rate displayed by the pools is not a point of time measurement of actual hash rate -- it is inferred from the difficulty of the most recent block. CryptoNote computes the difficulty target based on the solve times of the most recent 493 blocks from the last 24 hours.

When a significant amount of hash rate is getting added or removed, it is intentional that the block difficulty doesn't snap up to reflect it immediately... meaning it also won't show up immediately on the pools' Network Hash Rate estimate.

Wanted to ask if there is any pool that I can use with diff higher than 100k?

I just added difficulty 200k on Port 8888 at mine77.

Block Explorer Update 11-Sep-2017
https://explorer.mine77.net/

Added transaction viewing/search and payment ID search (try searching for 01020304 to see a tx with a payment ID). Let me know if you encounter any issues, and enjoy!

Also dev, let's talk over PM about what constitutes complete enough to collect the bounty. This has been a lot of work! Wink

one pool is showing network hash as 200+K, another is showing 160K, which is correct?

The node-cryptonote-pool project computes Network Hash Rate as (difficulty / block_time_target), and uses a constant of "120" baked in to the source code in pages/home.html, which I believe matches the block time target of Monero. Iridium uses a block time target of 175sec, so I believe that the 120 should be changed to 175, making the lower number likely more accurate. That project doesn't really document everything that needs to be changed to port it to another coin.

BETA BLOCK EXPLORER
https://explorer.mine77.net/

It's very simple (I'm a back-end dev, not a front-end dev!) and still lacks some important functionality like browsing transactions, but I wanted to get out an early version to review for accuracy.

I set up a pool at https://mine77.net if anyone is interested in spreading the hash around to decentralize. No fee for the rest of September.
