Re: Coinbase CEO Says Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Must Evolve to Reach Mass Adoption
by

For mass adoption forget Segwit and Lightening, just increase the block size limit by 100 times.
Compensate the miners with a mining reward of new bitcoin transaction token when a block is found.
Miners will be happy and Bitcoin gets low transaction fees with ledger traceability.
Only downside is running a full node at home is more difficult.

Please help anyone with sorting out a hardware wallet, I have 0 active connections:

I have the following in the quebecoin.conf....

rpcuser=quebecoinuser
rpcpassword=quebecoinpass
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
port=10889
rpcport=8332
listen=1
server=1
addnode=188.0.43.32:10889

algo=argon2d

Most recent Qt wallet and quebecoin.conf on github is from wallet v1.02.

EDIT: See that there is 1.03 wallet, but still does not work
I tried added quebecoin.conf to AppData\Roaming\QuebecoinV2

Thanks for uploading the Tellor bitstream for shipped miners along with the new rootfs.
Appreciate all the updates to improve ROI, especially with Handshake ASICs coming in a couple of months.

Is there a K12 Nand bitstream available?

Any changes to improve efficiency with the full node update?
Lower power usage and lower hashrate is welcome with the Summer coming as loft and garages get hot even with the powerful fan.

Having a failover pool caused me issues before, so I have removed it as advised some time ago.
Will this be fixed, so failover pool can be used?

Thanks

Assume the 10% to 15% performance improvement is to the hashrate.
Is the power usage the same? or slightly less with the lower clock frequency?

Also Tellor has appeared in the profit calculation, but there is no bitstream for this algorithm.
Is it planned to be released soon and if so when?

With the case on and no heatsinks the Apollo stopped hashing at high temperatures (40 degrees C ambient).
A restart fixed the issue, but this happened to me a few times in ECO mode with the fan on auto.
I think the fan could not cool the Apollo enough at high temperatures as it is only rated to run up to 40 degrees C ambient.

Have you installed the latest firmware image? You were probably experiencing the MCU overheat issue, and the latest image fixes this issue. If you want to make sure your MCU does not overheat pull it out of its socket and put a heatsink on the ARM processor (the big black chip on the other side of the blue board).

Thats probably the best use of all those heatsinks Wink

The main heatsink/fan for the ASICs is way overbuilt. They can both dissipate over 300 watts of heat at max fan airflow.

Thanks for the reply @jstefanop. Yes I had the old firmware running on the Apollo that was resetting.
I am now running the Apollos in balanced mode and they are still quite quiet.

I will replace the 14mm MCU heatsink with a larger 20mm heatsink as there is space on the board.

A few suggestions for future firmware updates:
- ASIC status or/and count showing how many ASICs are working.
- Display the clock frequency (I assume 384 is the default ECO mode frequency)
- A graph showing the hash rate against time
- A super ECO mode which further undervolts and underclocks the Apollos for folks with high electricity costs and in readiness for the Litecoin halving in August to squeeze the efficiency. Although I hope the price doubles to compensate.

I think the fan could not cool the Apollo enough at high temperatures as it is only rated to run up to 40 degrees C ambient.

So I added all the heatsinks and improved the cooling in my loft.
Both of these really helped and the heatsinks stopped the fan intermittently surging to high rpm which was annoying.
Now my loft ambient peaks at 33 degrees C ambient and the Apollo is very quiet.

As the Apollo is not so cheap I wanted to protect my investment for a long life so added the heatsinks and removed the case.
I would recommend others to do this if they are running the Apollo above 35 degrees C ambient.

I have pimped up the Apollo with lots of heatsinks to reduce the noise further (fan runs below 1620rpm at 30 degrees C ambient) and I run it without the case. As a minimum I suggest adding a heatsink to the R44 power converter at it is quite hot (>60 degrees C).

https://imgur.com/a/SB6A4pu

I use the following heatsinks:
20 off 20x20x10mm
11 off 8x30x8mm
2 off 6x4x4mm
1 off 14x14x5mm

The 8x30x8mm heatsinks probably help cool the Apollo down the most as they are at the base of the main heatsink.
Smaller 20x20x5mm heatsinks would probably work just as well and be cheaper at the top of the main heatsink by the fan.

Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread

A good way of cooling the Antminer S3s is to take off the cowl and connect fans to the heatsinks. I have bought some old CPU LGA 775 fans for a less than £2 each and wedged them over the heatsinks (the clip fits between the heatsink and the metal case by the fan). You can fit 2 per side and then use a 5 way pwm splitter to power all the fans from the existing S3 pwm connector.

You don't need to  press  any  refresh  button.. it automatically goes  into your account !
Make sure you sent the right amount as , I did  yesterday the same and forgot about the fee.. I had to make another  transaction as the  contract wasn't  showing up !
Well. actually was showing  but in red -  missing amount ! .. After the  satoshi missed  was deposited.. the contract  showed up  straight away !

Bought some GHash using my iPad, but contract not shown.
I should have pressed refresh again after my order was confirmed, but did not (why is this needed?) - not obvious.
Once I have sent the BTC the correct address the contract should show automatically after a few confirmations from the blockchain.
Looked in the FAQ and it can take 12 hours Sad

Free VIP and 10GHash would cheer me up to make up for lost earnings  Wink
Cloudminr username: Damo (referral=j21i23)

Thanks, for the suggestion. Did pay the correct amount, but still has not worked.
Will wait 12 hours and hope it gets fixed.

Contract for purchased GHash showing up on my account now after I submitted a support request following 10 hours wait. I sent request with a copy of the sha transaction and explanation of the problem. Got an additional 5GHash for my trouble which I appreciate Smiley
FYI blockchain shows the BTC address comes from Norway.

So do not let my problem put you off as support does exist and will fix any issue.
