I understand the frustration. Do you think a 50k ALN donation to the SETI fund might help? I have been traveling and vacationing and haven't gotten around to distributing the funds leftover from my pool. If you (or the community) think that might help kick start the coin, then we can make it happen. If not, then I'll hang onto them and see if the exchanges decide otherwise.

My alien.icalcul8.com pool is officially shut down and all coins have been withdrawn to cold storage. It was costing me more to maintain the site than it was generating. I would like to thank everyone who hashed with me. I have a copy of the account balances, so if you didn't get a chance to withdraw your coins, please let me know. I will hold coins through May 31, 2014 and at that time I will donate the remaining funds to the SETI Project.

I don't think you are working on the same coin. Our peak hash rate that I have observed is probably 25-30 MH and I don't think we have ever hit 100 MH. ALN typically runs 5-15 MH...

That's worthy of a match or significant contribution from the DEV!!! Come on DEV. I'll put another nice chunk in the pot, but it won't be that big lol. That's significantly more than I've mined and made from pool revenue. When you say "got in touch" does that mean you got someone on the phone or just looked into it more? You're the best ALN out there!

What do you think about changing the view to show more than the 10 most recent donations. Let's show the entire (within reason) history. Perhaps when it gets overwhelming, we can truncate the list. OR....a nice growth chart. :-)

Would it be difficult to put a timestamp on the donations in your donation page? Might be kind of nice to know that some of the donations are recent or show that the history of donations has been happening for a long period of time.

I've been watching the hash rate. People have been hitting it pretty hard when the diff goes low. Good deal.

SETI might be more receptive when we can say their 50k ALN is worth more than $11. We'll wait it out and maybe circle back with them in a few weeks/months.

So... SETI has been unresponsive in all of my solicitations to donate ALN. I have not gotten anyone on the phone or any response to emails. I'm not saying that I'm giving up yet, but it doesn't look very promising. If we are unable to pull off the donation to SETI, does anyone else have any other ideas to do with the funds? Would anyone be opposed to supercharging the faucet with those funds? Could increase the distribution to 40 ALN (a block's worth). There is enough in there to donate that amount to over 1200 people. Getting it into a few more hands might help exchange volumes...Thoughts?

SETI Update...sort of. I called the office of Karen Randall who is the director of special projects and is responsible for donations to SETI, but she was unavailable and I left her a message. I also sent her another email with some of the updates with regard to the new web site and the SETI project page. I will try her again later this week. Hopefully she will call me back before then.

Sitting here...watching ALN theatre...can't concentrate on the post because this flick is cracking me up.

WP, what do you think is most beneficial for the development of this coin? Seems like merchant transaction stuff would be the most important at this time...although we'll need some willing merchants as well. Is it best to wait for merchant demand or have the tools ready for them to adopt? Anyone in the community go to any sci-fi conventions they might be willing to promote? I'm from Wyoming and I wouldn't say there is much of that here. An android wallet would probably be useful later when we have some locations to do some spending.

I have been traveling today and will be tomorrow, however I will try to get some phone time with SETI on Wednesday to see if they are formally willing to accept an ALN donation and try to get some PR to promote. I never did receive anything via email from them.

You've done a great job and have done as much for this coin in 2 days as anyone has since launch. I think you successfully proved that ALN has some promise as we seen the exchange price take a nice jump. We need you and others that are willing to do the footwork to get it accepted. Aliencoin has promised bounties for that. I hope he made yours worthwhile for the work you've done.

The page looks great. Thanks for getting that up and functioning so quickly. I will be following up with SETI next week. Aliencoin has committed to donating, but hasn't committed an amount yet. Just to clarify... we have an address out there dedicated to SETI and I see 4 donations so far. Who is managing that wallet? I assume you are...? If we can get SETI to commit, do you think it would be best to get an address from their wallet? Or are we just going to donate to a private wallet in their name for the time being? I think that will be a bit of a trust issue for some.
