Unfortunatley I haven't received any FTC yet from Viperaus, so once again, I got scammed, this time about 20BTC worth as when I sold my FTC I had that is the additional amount I would've received for my 4481 FTC that I was supposed to receive from him.  Unfortunatley this is why I think people stray away from cryptocurrency.   I know its why I did back in the day just to come back a year later and have it happen again.

I started mining FTC on altpool.com but sadly the site went down and with it over 5k of my FTC.  I'm hoping to get them back and hear from viperaus.

Did the site just disappear one day, or did they stop their mining pool?

Well the site went down and with it, my ability to cash out.  Then they put up a new site in its place.  Here is a link to what happened/is going on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179563.220  I really wish I could post in that thread my wallet address for FTC so Viperaus knows he owes me but I'm classified as a newb and it wont let me.  Truth is though I'm really worried I wont get paid my FTC back.  And of course it just got put on BTC-e today so this is truly a bummer.   I had no idea they would be worth this much already otherwise I would've cashed out everyday.

I may get my coins back, I really hope I do, so far the guy (Troy) seems to be trying to pay people out what he owes them from the site crashing, guess time will tell

Back in the day I believe it was 12 or 22 BTC, And yes the exact number of FTC I lost was somewhere just over 5500.  I'm seriousley kicking myself for not downloading a wallet sooner and cashing out... as right now that is worth around 30BTC.

Re: Litecoin, the Silver to BitCoin Gold?

Because litecoin mainly adopt the feature of bitcoin, there's nothing too revolutionary or innovative. So, the value of litecoin will not be as high or close to bitcoins. People will still use it though.

You do realize that the matter of how revolutionary a currency is doesn't matter. It is how much it is used and how good it preserves its value that counts.

This is true, and perhaps one of the saddest truths.   Diamonds are a great example, in reality what are they used for?  How many people truly need them?  yet the price for them is astronomically high compared to their weight.  It's all percieved value.  In the end, that is the only way currency will ever work as well, it has to be percieved as being valuable.  Thats where BTC and LTC come in, they are being more and more known as being worth something to more and more people.  More places are accepting them as currency, and in the end I only see the prices of BOTH going up longterm.

I know someone using Amagi metals right now, I'll let you know how it goes, I'm planning on purchasing from them as well, in fact many orders from them starting in a week or so.   I'll let you know if I reccomend them.  So far they seemed the best I could find.

How do you define a "wide spread disaster"?

Specifically the failure of the powers that be to provide us with a stable and usable currency. Fiat money is going the way of toilet paper.

IDK why, I must be getting tired, but I read the previous comment as, "The failure of the powers to provide us with a stable and usable toilet paper"  I was like wait a sec... I guess that is a wide spread disaster  Grin

Wow so much to say here.  I feel the same way OP.  I bought some silver due to the dip but not to actually make money, instead to hedge against losing it all.  I know silver will ALWAYS be worth something where you can't say the same about BTC and other cryptocurrencies.  At the end of the day like others stated it's good to balance your investments so that you have all ends covered, or at least as much as you can.  I definitley think silver/gold is one definite way to do that.

That is a good point... cryptocurrencies can be split up into very small incriments to where anyone could afford.  I think the most important you already have listed.  I like how people here are trying to balance their portfolio (sounds like such a rich term).  I remember back when I was saving for a car at 16 MANY MANY years ago and all I cared about was the # i had in my savings account, then you get older and realize there is so much more than just having cash that determines your worth.  I'm very glad I learned as much as I did about investing into metals. The next thing I really would like to have is a house and land, both of which I will say I'm totally failing at Undecided .  Must wait to finish school first...

Hello everyone!

Figured I might as well become a member on here since I've been a part of this cryptocurrency for quite a long time now.  Anyone else super excited to see where this all goes?  I started mining bitcoins way back in the day when one stored their bitcoins in an online wallet.  I remember it got hacked and at that time I lost all my bitcoins and with it the faith in the cryptocurrency.  Consequentially I sold all my mining hardware.  It wasn't until LTC came out that I decided to spend a little and start mining again.  I'm glad I did.  I was pleased to see how wallets were no longer online but on a personal computer with the ability to encrypt them.  I have much more faith in cryptocurrency and hope that it keeps growing at the rate that it has.  Anyone excited about any particular alternate cryptocurrency?  I started mining FTC on altpool.com but sadly the site went down and with it over 5k of my FTC.  I'm hoping to get them back and hear from viperaus.  This rings bells of what happened with mybitcoinwallet back in the day...
