Re: WTS> My CAR for BTC or Paypal. ( Question )

Out of curiosity, how much would it cost to ship that car to the US?

My guess would be too much.

The blue book on that car with those miles is about 11k for private sale.
If you really want one I'm sure you could find it locally.

Shipping cars is a pain in the ass. I'd suggest trying to sell it locally before considering shipping it to another country. Just make sure you check kbb.com before you accept any offers.

+20.86% You gotta know when to pull the plug....

Turned off my miners this morning...until BTC goes back over $550. Need the fiat.

More bad news:
Estimated Next Difficulty:   28,023,615,809 (+17.53%) in 14 days.

I did the same, after only having my S3's for a week, that last difficulty increase took a huge chunk out of my profitability so I listed and sold them on eBay.

I pretty much broke even on the deal and I feel good about that.

this is a Box of my psu.

please check and tell that PSI-E cable is 12v or 5v

thank you

It's 12v. I believe the 5v is for the CPU cable.

That psu though will only power 1 S3.

Of all the exchanges which would be the best or most preferred to trade on? Or do people just have accounts on all of them?

MtGox is good....  Grin

Thanks I'm not quite that new..

Maybe Bitstamp/Coinbase?  where are you based?

US, I'm on Coinbase but I was wondering if there's a better exchange for trading with more options.

Re: A Bedroom of Pc's?
by

Hi Guys & Girls,

You all probably get this question a lot but my situation is a little bit different.

So I'm a teenager, the only reason I mention that is because I still live at home.....half of you already realize the significance I think.....I don't have to pay for power.

Also I'm a tech guy and my local dentist for whatever reason chews threw PC's, and instead of fixing them he buys new ones. Currently I have 13 working PC's without any operating systems. Most of them are core 2 duo's with or without low end graphics cards. I don't hold much hope of getting them gpu mining but cpu mining would be easy as pie. I even have a 2005 HP dual Xeon sever.

So what do you guys think, i have a spare switch or two and a bucket load of Ethernet leads. I'm currently thinking about running ubuntu on them, any better alternatives that are based around mining?
I would really like something that after installed dose not require a monitor, so I can check them all from my main PC with ease.

The next problem i run into is that cpu mining bitcoins is hopelessly worthless now with fpga's and asics miners. So what do you guys recommend? Litecoin? Dodgecoin?.

I have a rare opportunity, the pc's cost me nothing, they will cost nothing to maintain. Pure profit......however small it may be.

So again my main problem is the best o/s to use and what crypto currency I should use.

And anyone who was going to say something like: "Dont bother cpu mining its not worth it". Please abstain, i do understand it would be slow, but its a learning experience and it wont cost me anything anyways.

Oh and if you recommend me a certain crypto currency, maybe you have a favorite mining pool as well that you could recommend to me? I would much appreciate it!

Anyway thanks in advance everyone!

And happy mining

Regards,

Joel

If I were you, I'd take that stash and unload it on craigs list for as much as I can, maybe buy some asic hardware.

You may not have to pay for power but someone does, I bet your parents will be knocking on your door when they get the electric bill. If you really want to mine at home I would offer to pay the excess, even at the low bitcoin prices you can still turn a profit.

Talking about cgminer redirects, does anyone know who unknown.servercentral.net comes from? My S3 seems to be connected to it. Can't place it to any of the pools I use (slush and btcguild).

  look like DNS thing

50.31.189.49
unknown.servercentral.net
IP Address Information
The Internet Service Provider (ISP) that owns the network address of 50.31.189.49 is Server Central Network and located in Illinois within the United States. The IP Address resolves to the DNS record of unknown.servercentral.net.
Network Communications

The following file have been seen to comunicate with this IP address in live environments.

TCP port 3333
cgminer.exe

I looked up that information too, which does not really give me any clue as to which pool it belongs. It connects on port 3333 so it really seems to be something to do with mining.

that ip address wasnt pool but ip is for DNS.

Odd that it's using that port though, DNS is usually TCP port 53.

I want to OC my 2 s3.
I have corsair RM1000 PSU, it comes with 6+2 PCI cables,i only have 4 cables but both cables have a split at the end and comes with 2x 6 pin at the end, like in this picture :
http://s24.postimg.org/crcmgkew5/10378146_915873701773286_3872351713487313374_n.jpg

I know i need to power all 4 connectors in the S3 if I want to OC, can i use 1 cable to power 2x6 pin slots ?

Yes, this is exactly how mine is set up. (Same PSU)

Seems like I got lucky with my two from Batch 6.

One is running stable 500+ gh/s at 250 freq. (46c, 45c)
The other stable at 490+ gh/s at 243.75 freq. Above that this one gets one chip X'd out. (44c, 45c)

Should I consider re-applying thermal paste on these to bring temps down or consider myself lucky and leave it alone?

How long are you running at before you consider them stable? How are the errors? Have you tried using different power connectors or perhaps 2 on the malfunctioning blade? They seem to act up in the first 8 hours and still don't hash consistently between reboots..one boot is fine, the next errors and rejects  Roll Eyes Huh

I tried other freq's yesterdy (225, 237.5, 250) for 2-3 hours each. With the current settings they've been running for about 7.5 hours.

HW errors are low, 19 and 11. I have all 4 power ports used currently on each so no I haven't tried moving any connectors yet.

I'll keep an eye on it for today, hopefully they will stay stable.

Just got my two Ant's from B6 today.

After running for 4.5 hours here's what they're doing.

Ant1 running at 439.18 average (218.75 freq)
Ant2 running at 440.74 average (218.75 freq)

The only issues I had was with them initially turning on. It took 5-6 power cycles to get them to turn on, not sure why. After setting up the first one and changing the IP, had to do it all over again with both units to get them both up and running. I was worried for a bit there that they wouldn't turn on at all.

What 7.5-8.0 TH/s looks like.
Dissipating ~24,000 BTU.
Most PSU's = EVGA 1300's, powers 3 S3's each with current to spare.
Bitmain Rocks!

Just curious, where do you get your power cables?

Re: Where should I orderthe Antminer S3 from?

You'll need to buy some bitcoin first through an exchange, but if you go through Bitmain and pay with bitcoin, it comes out to about $400 per unit, but you have to buy at least 2 per order.

You'll pay up quite a bit through ebay or amazon, but you do get the security of being able to return it pretty easily if there's problems. Personally I don't think it's worth paying an extra $125 or more just for being better protected. Odds are low you'll have a DOA item.

I don't have my Ant's just yet, but I'll be getting them hopefully in batch 5. Just ordered a Corsair RM1000 that should be good to power them both. I chose this one because it's fully modular, has 8 PCI-Express connectors and at the time I was able to get $20 off, plus a $20 rebate card. So it was essentially $140.00 for a $180.00 psu.

Re: DO NOT ORDER FROM MINERSOURCE!!!

Minersource recently screwed me over too on faulty equipment.

I picked it up from their local guy "Matt", he said to call if there were any problems... Well there were, one was DOA and the other had major performance problems. Well "Matt", decided to ignore my calls after that. I can only conclude that they knew the equipment was bad and had no intention of making it right.

After that I contacted them by email, got a response from Dan Murtha basically saying tough shit. They ignored several other emails after that.

Even if they weren't hurt by Black Arrow, they've proven to be a badly run business with poor customer service, I won't buy from them again.

Shipping is included. I prefer DHL over UPS. You have a choice.

Just put down for two more on batch 5. I bet Bitmain is betting on another few rounds of low difficulty jumps to justify the slight decrease in price between batches. Judging by how much of the network they can control when they batch test, I'm going to bet the price is probably in line with expected network growth.

It all depends on how you calculate your ROI. If you have a bunch of equipment that's already paid for itself, you can choose to calculate that hash towards your most recent purchase and write off the hardware much sooner. Much easier to calculate any gains down the road that way.

...it also might involve a little bit of lying to yourself too, but trust me it's much more fun this way.

Are there special procedures for ordering? What am I missing here?
