bla bla bla
EXACTLY!

This is the problem right? People defending this PnD that just happen in front of their eyes can't concieve that devs are certainly more tech savy and more scam savy than them.

Exit scams are no blatant, otherwise they wouldn't work. Just look into the past, coins like NXT (which gave birth to NEM btw), pyramid schemes like Bitconnect. They all had exit scams not so obvious and delusional people, who hope they will regain their 80% loss in this coin, help them to do the exit scam unknownly because they protect them by default.

Exit scam? Pyramid schemes? Bitconnect? Dude, what are you smoking? NEM has more than 6 years history, so stop with this non-sense FUD.

You seem to have forgotten about the HUNDREDS of SOCK PUPPET accounts UtopianFuture admitted to making after he was found out and gave himself millions in NEM stakes.

Or the fact that the last "foundation" president quit (Laura or something), after extensively giving herself expensive cosmetic surgeries (at the cost of NEM investors) and dumping all her NEM holdings on unsuspecting investors. She works as some marketing agent for another P&D coin now (she started as simple Yelp reviewer and somehow ends up super wealthy after covering for the NEM P&D schemes). No surprise there.

ProximaX seems to have been the victim of bad faith propaganda from the NEM foundation.

ProximaX was telling the truth when they announced taking the code with them (and rightly so, they did most of the work on what was supposed to be NEM 2.0) and parting ways from NEM.
ProximaX wasn't going to let the NEM foundation steal all their work just so they could dump secretly again on unsuspecting investors.

If anyone wants to see the REAL NEM 2.0, look into ProximaX. It was supposed to be released as "Catapult", but after all the drama with the NEM foundation they decided to rebrand to ProximaX in order to distance themselves from the NEM toxic system.

I was just going to answer to BogdanCo about the sock puppets and the foundations but lemonandfriesonetwo was quicker.
bla bla bla was very wrong quote as it skips those quite valuable matters Smiley

About Proximax nothing to say  Cool

Was symbol launched already ?

Symbol launch is delayed past the 15 March.

There has been an anomaly identified in the deployment step.

It is being investigated and will take a few hours.

An issue was identified & is now resolved. The remaining steps in the process will take some hours to work through, slowly & methodically, but we are back on track. We can’t provide an ETA yet. Will update here later.

Will update here ?

SEC is coming for NEM, it's just a matter of time. Look at XRP, it will be the same thing. PnD scheme go to jail

NEM is decentralized and public unlike XRP
Yes because devs abandoned it after dumping their coins and making the smoke and mirror saying "we open the code for the community".

What is considered by SEC is the status of the company at the moment of the scam. In the event of the airdrop, NEM was centralized and SEC will shut this clown work down.

This is a known thing about NEM, the old devs dumped and manipulated everything. Even censoring their channels from people stating facts.

ProximaX claims to be the better improved NEM that split away from all the drama of the NEM community.

ProximaX did the right thing by taking the code with them and distancing themselves away from NEM.  Huh

"the old devs dumped and manipulated "  ??

Give some proofs. If not, then you just prove yourself being a FUDder. As usual Smiley

In the NEM rich list are the accounts    https://nemnodes.org/richlist/    (Jaguar*, gimre, Alice*)
and here can be checked the accounts' content : https://explorer.nemtool.com/#/s_account?account=.......

The Devs' accounts seem to contain the same amount of XEM as in 2016. So... who has dumped?

I hope you wont be totally disappointed, if "your devs" aren't doing so cleanly  Cheesy

Thats a sincere wish after reading old Nem forum writings. Specially the disagreement about how much XEM's were saved to Foundation accounts. The original plan was something like 25 % to F's but finally there was 50 - 60 % Huh

Now six years later I cant avoid getting such an impression that most of the developers were young boys, who may have been genius crypto coin coders but less educated in ethics  Cool
One interesting thing was also the lack of commenting by the leading coders. Apparently they didnt want to get dirt to their hands. If they wanted that Foundations get only 25 % then they said so. No comments at all means ,,,,, what ?   Cool

Maybe one evolvement has been done in Symbol platform when they did drop the Foundations. Maybe also they read or even remembered the old disagreements. Or they just got older  Grin

Has Nano wallet changed from NanoWallet.exe to start.html which uses java script ?   tests.js??

version 1.4 contains exe, but 2.1.2 contains html

https://blog.nem.io/nanowallet-tutorial/

When there has been talked to move from java to C++, I thought that exe was those first C++ implementations Smiley

Edit:  tutorial doesnt mention java. Isn't java 8 anymore a requirement?

What is the effectiveness of the Dev Funds?
How much have their paid to projects and how many projects have been made to their goals?

I don't really keep track of them. There haven't been a huge amount so far. The most interesting recent one was the NEM library, a developer resource type thing, and in the end the people proposing it wound up being offered jobs with the NEM foundation instead.

Copyright bank and Luxtag were other ones that passed.

This is the forum concerning them - https://forum.nem.io/c/project-proposal

So the money still lays on the bottom of the deep fund Wink

Are the percentages still far from what mladen00 wrote Sep '15 :

"original plan was 25% to devs and 75% to stakeholders.

only fair plan"

or you could let original nemstake holders that never claimed nems, reclaim their nems

That would cause some boom Smiley

It's mainly because NEM is still invisible and many of the proposals are unprofessional and shit.

This and other cases have got their funds somewhere else?

Catapult CPP development status, nothing short of being impressive:

A great pile of code indeed...
Work has been done but the quality based on those numbers could be better (blank, comment / code) ;-)

Static analysis tools may give some "guidelines" to the coding, unless the devs are so familiar with C++ and so Pro that codelines are self-commenting :-)
Or the code has been really stress-tested.

@gimre

legal entity - ok. But this: "The legal entity will not only control the funds but actually own them to do as they wish ...No info on who who is involved in this Legal entity and If, how much they will be paid, expense accounts etc."  is a no go.

We will expect some people will be paid for sure. It cannot be pro-bono. Would you spend your time in there, pro-bono?

No i wouldnt but I dont like a board of directors assigning themselves a wage that they deem fair either out of community funds. Yes the guys who hold the keys to the funds now could run away with them as you say, but that would be stealing and would kill their current holdings value not to mention the project (NEM) in general. Giving ownership of the funds to a legal entity in which they have the power to sign checks as they see fit is not ideal either.

Dont get me wrong, I am not trying derail a plan that is being attempted with good intentions (probably) but making an announcement that there will be a vote with a deadline of the 14th of Aug in which the main beneficiaries  have the power to win that vote and in which the community loses all control of the community funds is rushed to say the least.

I would like to hear a better solution rather than the problem we already know. Otherwise there still has to be an answer to the problem to move forward. And to move forward we must. Smiley

Honestly, some people in the community wants a resolution. We have made the announcement on 7th. July, but most are apathetic when this is history in the making. THe idea and deadline for resolution was mooted by someone in the community who is seeing inaction and non-deliberation.

Well I cant argue with you about the community being apathetic as I seem to be the only one concerned with the plan ( maybe they all like it ).
I am against centralization in principal but I also see that Bitcoin is in a mess with no decisions being made. I expect most to complain after the vote. I think there should be more details such as who are the people involved in the Legal entity, Which funds are being transferred to them and if there will be any oversight regarding spending, accounts etc.

Agreed with fragout!

When discussing about something legal, there is expected to be definitions that are very openly ans accurately presented. Unless legal matters give it certain security.

Also the given Time to decide would have been expected to be more than one Holiday-Month Wink
And advertized more also in BTT.

i had told you hold your XEM still for sure 50% more and maybe 100% after zaif next late week Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
put positive vote to me thanks

Do not hold your XEM - you must sell some, 5  - 20% of your XEM to new nemsters. Otherwise the population is not growing. And that grow is the critical thing.

..But...
how about the Exchanges.

Every exchange can be hacked. Even those high end, super volume ones  Wink

Given the current trend of "hacks" (some of which are probably just lies to cover exit strategies) i think it's a safe assumption to say all exchanges can be hacked and will take your funds with them.

This assumption has saved me many times over the years and i never would keep a single coin on an exchange for this reason.

Thanks for the advices.

Which Exchanges have lost their funds and when those have happened?

Just looking for the "t(h)rend" ... Wink

by

Congrats to NEM devs Cheesy
Maybe finally their work has been noticed and the valuation of XEM [ksem :] is growing.

But...
how about the Exchanges.
Here has been few posts about their safety.
Is it expected that EVERY Exchange will be "hacked"?

If it is so, then I start believing that it is not actually a hacking problem.
It is just a systematic and 100% sure method to get virtual coins. And the method is owned by the Exchange providers themselves.

I propose the OP to delete all NXT posts from NEM thread...?
my eyes hurt reading this sunken ship's name all over, what the dickens... it's a good-as-dead project as CFB kinda said himself! Jinn in the Jinn thread, NXT in the NXT thread and NEM in the NEM thread. How about that y'all?

dont be too harsh,
totally cleaned thread would contain no comparisons to other coins, and that is too dull or unilateral.

Is it possible to get source code related to PoI?

No.

Any estimate when the code and white paper is published?

How many months/weeks was between the NXT launch and the publish of NXT code ?

Ahem. I have not contacted you, nor have I more than one stake from the forum claiming.

Please clear this up!

You're absolutely right and I apologize. I confused you with someone else Lips sealed.

No problem. The only reason I wanted that cleared up was because someone sent me a PM asking about it.

Must be some error in. T had only 1 stake!

We don't want to publish a list of names because of privacy reasons.

I can compile a chart of the registration dates, ranks, and post counts of NEM stakeholders. Or do you have other suggestions?

At this point, I'm fairly comfortable that there are no major sockmasters.

Is there time to do an extra round of sockpuppet hunt that would affect a potential insider?

Look at the situation from point of view of a guy from outside:

Mr.X owns 100 sockpuppet stakes.
He does a great analysis and finds 400 sockpuppet stakes belonging to someone else.
He comes to NEM devs and shows the analysis that reveals only those stakes that are not controlled by him.
NEM devs get rid of those 400 sockpuppets.

NEM devs are happy = they removed 400 rogue stakes.
Mr.X is happy = he has 100 his stakes safe (noone will do an extra round after such the great analysis).
Some guys who know double agent tricks are not happy.

Too difficult ... Sad
... in the level of the used transparency.
