Re: NEM: What is it, and why is it skyrocketing?

Dumps as fast as it rises. Only a fool buys on alltime-high.

I can agree and say that its better and the best to be the all time high than to buy on the all time high.

U can try this

~CfA~

It lost about a third of its value in one and a half hours. That's a massive crash and anyone who bought at the top must be frantic with worry that it won't go any higher. It has a 24 hour (and all time) high of 2798 sats, and it's gone down to 1932 sats as fast as lightning.

With the publication of the Civil Code General Provisions Draft, virtual properties and data have officially become Chinese people’s rights, what this means is that cryptocurrencies e.g. Bitcoin, virtual currencies e.g. online gaming tokens and data information, e.g. Big Data, shall all be officially recognized as Civil Right Objects. Yesterday(June 27th ), the 21st session of the 12th National People’s Congress Standing Committee(China’s Congress or/and Senate) was held in Beijing. The session reviewed, for the first time, the illustration on the PRC Civil Code General Provisions(Draft) Proposal, which was brought to the floor by the Chairman Meeting of the NPC Standing Committee. Within the draft, we see articles on virtual properties and data information, classifying them as new type of civil right objects, this means that virtual properties and data shall officially become people’s rights.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4q8eu9/chinese_civil_code_general_provisions_draft/

This is for real, it's on newsbtc now. This is the first time we know the price can rally without China ruining it by semi-banning bitcoin just when it's getting good. That threat won't be in the back of people's minds during the next rally, which will make it a moonshot.

Re: How did you get into Bitcoin?
by

I got into it after I saw it had gone over $1000 each on the news. Each time bitcoin makes the news more people must hear about it like I did, and some of them will get into it. I'm annoyed I missed the chance to be an early adopter, but most bitcointalk members feel that way.

Re: Free EverGreenCoin!
by

on 05/01/2016, 14:18:03 UTC
Is there a thread for this coin? What are its major features? what is the algo? You should really have a thread with all the info regarding this coin.

The announcement thread is here.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1272091.0

These are its specifications

Algorithm: X15 PoW + PoS hybrid
PoW length: 525,960 blocks ( ~6 months)
PoW generated supply: 13 million EGC projected. (26,298,000 EGC Max)
PoW block reward: 50 EverGreenCoin
1 EGC (2%) to the EGC Foundation. 49 EGC (98%) to the EGC miners.
PoW block halving: none
Block target: 60 seconds
Block maturity: 60 blocks (~1 hour)
PoS reward: 7%
Minimum coin age for staking: 24 hours after maturity
Maximum coin age for staking: none

The logo reminds me of the digitalcoin logo, except its green. It looks like a round circuit board just like the digitalcoin logo.

The reddit giveaway could be more generous, 20 EGC isn't many compared to the devs 2% premine.

I had an old version of multibit classic that had numerous addresses open at the same time. When I tried to sync it after I hadn't used it for months it hadn't synced after 24 hours. After I backed up my wallets then re-installed it and imported one address it synced quite fast. If you try syncing one address at a time it should sync.

Re: Crypto Assets subforum
by

Coinmarketcap put the crypto assets on a separate page to regular coins, but as far as I'm concerned making a sub-forum for them here is a bad idea. I don't look at the coinmarketcap crypto assets page, and I wouldn't look at a bitcointalk crypto assets sub-forum. Most of us wouldn't use it, so it would be pointless making a sub-forum. Crypto assets aren't as popular as coins.

Are you going to tell as his ridiculous bitcoin prediction or are you going to leave us in the dark

I searched that story for the word bitcoin and only found two occurrences of it, both of which were in this comment left as feedback.

http://s13.postimg.org/3yxspbj6v/zero.jpg

Although I wanted to read the story to find out the ridiculous bitcoin prediction the webpage became non-responsive after my search, and I had to let chrome kill it. Although it's a well known site I scanned it with virustotal, which confirmed it was clean, so it's probably a javascript heavy page.

Please Bitcoinpro tell us the ridiculous bitcoin prediction.

I would like to know f it's possible for a westerner to register on Huobi too. If westerners can register then can they make deposits and withdrawals through bank wire transfers? I thought the Chinese were only allowed to deposit through wires, and not withdraw through them. If the Chinese can't withdraw using wires, then westerners won't be able to.

Re: Supply & Demand Price Contradictions: Bitcoin / Gold / Silver
by
mnl92
on 08/12/2015, 11:53:12 UTC
Gold's been doing better than silver over the last decade. It's crashed a bit but not as much as silver during the last five years. Over the last decade both have still gone up overall though. Bitcoin's outperformed both since its birth but it's got a limited total supply, and there is more demand to buy it than can be satisfied by newly mined coins. Bitcoin's crashed hard for the last two years but there was still demand for it, and now it's going up again. None of the three assets have crashed below their values from a decade ago (or 7 years in bitcoin's case), they have all gone up in the long term.

Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning
by

When will it start trading, I feel like I invested into this project years ago, this is starting to piss me off. Anyone else here feeling the same way?

They intend to release the first version without a GUI. You will have to use a command line windows instead. The network will also be run at a very slow throttled back rate to begin with. I don't know if it will be initially possible to trade it if it's first version is getting released half finished.

The first version might not be very popular even if some exchanges do start an Ethereum market. Why would anyone buy something half finished?

Re: multi vitamin
by

I do not use multi vitamins, because I dont think they are important. I take all my vitamins through food.

This story suggests high doses could lead to cancer, although the people in the studies took them orally, not up their arses.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/09/opinion/sunday/dont-take-your-vitamins.html?_r=0

In a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine in 1994, 29,000 Finnish men, all smokers, had been given daily vitamin E, beta carotene, both or a placebo. The study found that those who had taken beta carotene for five to eight years were more likely to die from lung cancer or heart disease.

Two years later the same journal published another study on vitamin supplements. In it, 18,000 people who were at an increased risk of lung cancer because of asbestos exposure or smoking received a combination of vitamin A and beta carotene, or a placebo. Investigators stopped the study when they found that the risk of death from lung cancer for those who took the vitamins was 46 percent higher.

Ok, its dead for you - so please sell and we wish you all the best.

Reports of the dev's death are a little premature considering he posted yesterday. The dev's still here.

There are seednodes you don't need to put addnodes in conf to sync

the only problem we should have here is with the trolls Smiley

There are only two posts out of seven without an askcoin referral link on this page. There's noting wrong with them, but its strange to see so many identical sigs.

Re: [ANN] [PMC] Premine Coin | Rare | Mining Transaction Fee Proof of Concept
by
mnl92
on 15/03/2015, 22:11:38 UTC
Anyone want to buy my PMC? I've got 1333.35900807 in my wallet. I'm selling the private key. Please PM offers.

How much? why are you sending the private key instead of sending the coins!

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because there aren't enough nodes to sustain the network and keep transactions moving anymore. A couple of months ago, I decided to download some wallets of older altcoins and many of them refused to sync due to lack of available nodes. PMC is probably in the same boat seeing as though it has been replaced by PMP which has been out for many months now.

I guess you would have to mine it yourself until your coins moved if you wanted to send them to someone.

I`m holding, holding it so tight that I might let it go sometimes to gambling  Smiley

Technically we are all winners if you hold and forget about bitcoin then come back a year later lol.
I've bought ducktape and covered myself on USB pendrives with my wallet so I don't even to hold it.
You should use that tape to cover USB ports to help you fight the urge to stop hodling, should it ever come Cheesy

You are best putting the pendrives in a time lock safe. No need to fight the urge to stop hodling then.

People giving up hope is a sign of reaching the bottom, slowly but surely. My own indicator is not looking at the forum for weeks. That's still some time away.

Fun indicator - personally I'm checking here once a day maybe three days a week instead of multiple times every day.  The last time I was at that point was during the summer of 2013, which was also super boring.

Then we'll know we're at the bottom when bitcointalk only gets 5 posts a day.

Re: What month/year will XRP pass BTC on coinmarketcap

Most will say never, just like BTC would never go below $250$ or $200.

Hint: They are releasing more coins as we speak.

...

I read that they had stopped selling XRP to gateways. Do you mean they have started again?
