Re: Fruastrated bitcoiners start lawsuit against Ebay

Living off of bitcoins is dismal to say the least. Until that changes, we need to fight the ancient systems that promote fraud. I know at least hundreds of people have lost money due to the same issue. One single example, here LUD3A6cPWes5UmzwPfRNF9zNaw9JLigwQU. How can so many people be blind to the problems?

How to buy food with bitcoin??
by

My debt card number was stolen by Target about a week ago. I have been forced to live off of Bitcoin but it's hard to find food. So far I have been mostly using egifter.com to 'gift' myself USD paper credit cards bought with bitcoins. The selections are kinda dismal though. Kmart lunch meat and pizza are not things I enjoying eating for 100% of my meals. Also, getting gas for my car has been a huge challenge. Anyone have some bitcoin survival tips?

Ebay offers good value and can handle fast transactions. The problem is mashing old money systems that have been running wild for decades with the new ones. Allowing people to use hundreds of paypal accounts is something that only works with chargebacks and high fees. For those that want to bend over and take it, join MPOE-PR. Everyone else can my group.

Fruastrated bitcoiners start lawsuit against Ebay

A group of people have started a lawsuit aimed at Ebay.com. They are claiming that Ebay hide information from PayPal that would have made the fraud detectable. The lawsuit claims that Ebay will allow any account to use hundreds of paypal accounts without ever warning merchants. The bitcoin ebay lawsuit is here http://ebayclassaction.com

I'm interested in selling my p2pool coincatalyst.com. The pool doesn't get used by very many people. Basically, I'm selling the enterprise class, data center ready server, the dot com domain name, and the website. If anyone is interested, I will add more details and pictures. Additionally, if people want to do an auction, I'm willing to list the pool on ebay. If your interested please feel free to send me an offer.

56k... you can't forget that noise  Cry

That's funny because 56k modems do make noise.  Grin

I agree with Kluge. I'm not sure about the direct download thread mentioned for bitcoin. However, litecoin offers direct downloads and it does make getting the blockchain a breeze. I specifically agree with limiting bitcoin-qt speeds when in a residential setting. The bitcoin wallet will hog all upstream traffic even on a semi-decent cable connection. Another notable mention is Qos. Using quality of service, one can give personal computers priority over the connection or the other way around depending on what the end goal is.

The bitcoin-qt client does take a lot of storage and bandwidth to maintain 24/7. For the most part it makes a crap cable connection mostly useless. If you just need a wallet I suggest electrum. No blockchain monster needed.

Re: Quantum computing and Bitcoin cryptography
by

It might so happen that a government is the first to fund and consequently produce a quantum computer. Considering this, it is unlikely an unprivileged individual would have access to such technology unless they developed or funded the research. All sophistry aside, quantum computers will cause all current forms of cryptography to become antiquated. The good/bad news is that building a functional quantum computer has proven to be a great challenge thus far. The better news is that cryptocurrencies are funding technological advances towards higher efficiency machines. It's only a matter of time until some entity realizes that such computing power translates into real world power.

My machine took about 2 days to get the blockchain and it has 8 cores at 2.6 GHZ. The first half was done within hours, the second half finished in about 30 hours. The crazy part is that the blockchain is growing by 1 GB a month right now.
