So I purchased another Antminer through bitmain a couple weeks ago, they shipped it, the tracking shows delivered, but i haven't received anything yet. I contacted Bitmain to see how we would be able to resolve the situation seeing that it neither of our fault.
It's been a week and i'm still emailing them and waiting for a response.

This is just a warning for people that may live in a high-risk area!!!!

If it comes down to it, this will probably be an expensive loss....

Did you contact the courier company? Did you check the delivery address?
Ask for POD (proof of delivery)!

What is  the normal temp of ANT while mining at 180ghs without overclocking.

I think it depends on the batch... As I got 3 different batches...and all seem to have their own temp settings.

1st: 42-43C
2nd: 46-48C
3rd (received it a week ago): 39-40C

Please Help! I have my Antminer S1 all setup now: PSU setup, IP address changed, and pool info entered. However, it doesn't seem to be mining. I think there is a connection problem. I took screenshots of everything here in this album: https://imgur.com/a/9EK94

Can someone please suggest a solution. Thank you!

Under network, on the right is diagnostics, which you can ping and trace route.  That should let you know if you're miner can see the internet.

Are you sure your PSU is able to handle the workload?  It takes awhile for the info to be updated, I'm assuming when you put your pool data in you hit save and apply, not just save.  Also assuming you tried restarting it and letting it sit a minute, before seeing if it worked.

Only other thing that I saw that was different than mine, is your custom DNS servers is different than what I have listed - mine is what I have listed as iv4 gateway (the gateway setting is the DNS setting).  I'm in no way qualified what to tell you regarding that info - so please don't make any changes about that based on what I'm saying - is just something I noticed - the 8.8.8.8 looked funny to me - maybe someone with more experience with that type of networking can help! Smiley

Good luck

8.8.8.8 is fine to use as DNS server
When Windows automaticly assigns IP address...what is the subnet of your router? (in command screen: ipconfig) Is that still 192.168.1.1 or a different IP?

Could you make a new screen shot of the system log...but scroll down to the bottom of the page before you do so... Might see info that sheds a light on your problem...

What kind of PSU are you using?

Apart from that...didn't see anything strange...

Been doing some reading, has the remote pool switching been fixed in CG miner.  Coin switching is something I would like to do on my own, but to access each miner and change the settings is a pain.  Can anyone point me in the direction to get this done?

Just bumping

Also any reading on API set up would be awesome to!

That is a cooling fan.  In looking for a PSU I would highly recommend you look at the decibels. I love some white noise but damn, I got the Dell PSU's from Miner's Source with my S1s and those PSU's are loud.

You can jumper the PSU to lower fan rotation...
To lower the fan speed, connect B2 to D3 (Ground).

Check the instructions on this forum:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1750411
(the instruction will say...connect C2 to D3, but that's incorrect)

Hi I have this spare power supply ARTIC Fusion 550-EU  http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/fusion-550rf-eu.html is this OK for powering a single Antminer S1?

Thanks W_M

Don't know whether it will be enough...but when I started with mining... I had 2x Artic 850W

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Artic-Blue-850W-Quad-Rail-ATX-PSU-8-Pin-Sata-PCI-E-Quite-Power-Supply-/251430746242?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item3a8a70b882

But even both weren't enough to power 1 ant...
You can try though..if it's not powerful enough...it will switch off OR start smoking Wink

Hi,

Having trouble getting one of my ants up and running. It's been running non-stop for over a month but today had to be powered off for a switchboard upgrade.

It powers back on but sits there with the lights on the controller board, one red constant, one green flashing around a second on/off. All the other ants on the same power circuit came back on no problem.

The network cable light is on green but the amber side is off. The lan light at the hub is off.

I've tried a known working network cable and hub port. I've also tried the reset button which does not seem to have any visible effect (is there a definitive duration for the button push to reset?).

Any advice on what to try next before looking at an RMA?

Cheers

Are you able to login to the antminer thru it's IP?
Did you try connecting to the router directly?

Probably will go for a normal fan next time...not the PWM fans.

If you clip the white wire on the fan, it will disconnect the PWM and it will run full speed all of the time, if that's what you are looking to do.

Yeah I know but that's not what I'm looking for... As why pay more for a PWM fan and then not use the PWM function...?

I'll probably use some cheap fans...or some used ones....

For those who put a second fan in front:

I picked up a few different fans to try: Arctic F12 can only be installed in one direction (push, not pull), Enermax has four pins connector, but connector has two small plastic rails which prevent the connector to fit pins (I did not try to push it hard yet) and Corsair air SP120 has just 3 pins, so no PWM. Anybody had trouble with fitting regular fans connectors with Ants pins? Did the second fan in front even helped?

Personally I haven't bothered buying other fans for my latest 3 ants..

Why not-are you overclocking? Do extra fans help in any way?

Yep have 6 oc-ed and running currently 2 on stock freq.

As I explained... front fan slows down when you attach a rear fan.. So temp stays approx the same. It will be better as the whole ant gets cooled instead of half...but yeah as I said, haven't been bother up to now for the last 3

Probably will go for a normal fan next time...not the PWM fans.

I use a few Akasa AK-FN073. It also has 2 of the plastic rails... 1 in the middle which would break the plastic backplate of the connector (on the ant).

I removed the plastic rail in the middle with a sharp knive and problem solved!

I think that a normal fan would be better than a PWM... because as soon as the temp drops on the rear side of the ant... the front fan slows in rotations in order to stay at the programmed temp by bitmain. Personally I haven't bothered buying other fans for my latest 3 ants..

Hi
I need help with this PSU: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0JX399-Dell-PowerEdge-2950-750W-Hot-Plug-Redundant-AC-Power-Supply-Unit-Z750P-00-/281038936437?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item416f39d975

Can anyone help me with choice of this or any other one which will fit s1.
I had corsair cx500 but price is to high.

Hi,

Uhmm this one will be ok for 1 Ant. If you think you'll get another ant in the future; you can choose:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-2800-Server-POWER-SUPPLY-7000815-0000-D3014-930W-PSU-dw1-/251478903791?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item3a8d4f8bef

This one will power 2 ants... It will cost you around 20-22GBP.

One note! These PSU's have a max amount of watts you can use on each output pin.. So if you have a complete ant (both blades) on 1 output pin...then you'll be pulling >360W on a pin that has a max of 312W (in case of the 930W PSU). You'll fry it... like I did Wink

2 days ago i received my first antminer. I have followed the instructions found at this post and i can't seem to get it to work. I tried everything i could found on the internet but still doesn't work. I have even followed the official manual step by step. It took me a lot of time connecting with the antminer but after some hours it worked. After configuring the pool at the miner configuration, i pressed save and apply but nothing happens at miner status. It shows me This section contains no values yet. I have tried rebooting the device several times but nothing happens.

Does anyone have any suggestions please help.

I checked the antminer and it's connected to the internet correctly. It simply doesn't start mining after configuring the pools correctly.

Hey,

Could you post some network IP details? (Gateway ip,computer ip,ant ip, broadcast ip, dns server ip)
What system are you on? (win/linux)

If your ant has internet access..then you're almost there (only updating pool and worker info).

I'm nowhere near an expert... but if I can help...I'll try

I recieved my ant miner s1 today ( second one ) and set it from 192.168.1.99 to 192.168.1.242
I then tried to set up the wireless to connect but it kept going on and off so i turned the wireless off ( or so i thought ) and ended up turning the lan connection off....... yer i know stupid and not paying attention.
I read up about the hard reset button but it don't to do anything or reset back to its default of 192.168.1.99
so im stuck with a miner that can connect to anything or reset.
Any help would be very much appreciated and a donation will be made
Thank you

While I had problems Sushi gave me the following directions for a hard reset:

WHILE ANTMINER IS POWERED ON, PLEASE PRESS AND HOLD THE RESET BUTTON FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS INTO 10 SECONDS
THEN LET IT GO, WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES, THEN PRESS AND HOLD THE RESET BUTTON AGAIN FOR 10 SECONDS, LET IT GO, WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES, THEN THRUN IT OFF, WAIT FOR 30 SECONDS THEN TURN IT BACK ON

I'm using server PSU's. Dell 1570W one's. They power 3 ants... (2 oc'ed and 1 normal freq).... Can get them to work all 3 oc'ed... But it will take me some time... As the PSU has 5 Output pins which have a max of 312W per pin. I would need to connect the 5 pins in order to get the full 1570W out of it..without worrying that I will ruin my PSU. (Happened to some 930W one's I had...I wasn't aware that they had a max W on the output pins).

I didn't think to use Server PSU's. Yes, the price per watt is remarkably cheaper than your typical desktop PSU. Looking at pictures, I can't tell how you would be able to use this. Is there a breakout cable that attaches to the only port I can see?

On this forum you'll find loads of different PSU conversions.... Just one example of many:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1750411

You'll need to jumper a few pins together... but it's really REALLY easy.
Then you can opt for another jumper (of 2 pins) and that will lower the fan speed.

The PSU I have....it sounds like a boeing 747 on the runway... so that jumper saves me a load of headache!
Installing a couple of 1k resistors will reduce fan speed depending on load.

see http://www.raptortechnique.com/12vpower.htm

I thought thiers was a little messy thou, so I made up some resistor banks that just plug on.

http://s27.postimg.org/xl22ulper/100_6338.jpg

Smiley cool... I didn't give that a go...as I didn't have resistors lying around... and I'm not that technical... Have some junk electrical equipment.. Might remove a resistor and try it...just for fun.

The descriptions I read were talking about an option of multiple resistors (each different strenght) and I was reading that...scratching my head.. thinking...Nah why be difficult...jumper it and should be enough Smiley

Found another link....this thread has a lot of PSU types and there pin-out diagrams (to know which pins to jumper in order for the PSU to turn on, etc)

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1292514

I think this is way better then computer PSU's... The only draw back...is the wiring fron the PSU to the ant. With a computer PSU you just plug in the PCI connectors and your done.. With the server PSU I'm busy for a while with all power cables.. I used some extra (junk) power leads I had.

I ordered a corsair 1000w PSU on amazon for 130 GBP and some guys on this forum told me I could only power 2 ants.. I thought you know for 20GBP a 930W Dell PSU...just give it a try..and if jumpering is too difficult or I mess it all up...then at least I tried and I only loose 20GBP.
It worked and was really easy...so I canceled the order on amazon saving me some money...At the moment I paid 132GBP for 3x 1570W PSU's able to power 9 ants Smiley

I found that till now all ants were straight forward...
You go to wan settings, change IP of the ant to the correct subnet.
Change IP gateway
Remove IP broadcasting
DNS: fill out 8.8.8.8 and hit the save and update button.

Then  login to your ant to the changed IP (what you filled out above).
Fill out your pool address, user name, password and hit save and update button.
That should be enough to get started.

I had major problems at the start... And it ended up being a lousy PSU...or actually 3 PSU's. I had bought 2x 850W computer PSU's.....cheap one's... they were 30GBP each and both weren't enough to power ONE ant!! Had to add a 3rd PSU to get it to work.

If the PSU is the problem...it won't start hashing as it does have enough power to startup...

Has anyone powered the S1 in unconventional ways?

Currently, the only way I have seen to do it is to use a computer PSU. I'm wondering about the use of a different kind of power converter for cases when you want to power an army of S1's. The overall goal is to reduce the price for each S1, which is currently the cost for the S1 plus a PSU. So far, it seems to me that it is cheaper to buy a 500 or 600 watt PSU for each one, rather than a 1200 watt PSU that can run two of them.

So I'm thinking of a situation where someone with electrician education has set up a separate line from the building main and then converted it accordingly and branched it to each S1. My understanding is that the S1 requires six 12 volt power lines and six ground lines. This sounds like it would not be too difficult to do and would be cheaper per S1, assuming you have over 20.

I'm using server PSU's. Dell 1570W one's. They power 3 ants... (2 oc'ed and 1 normal freq).... Can get them to work all 3 oc'ed... But it will take me some time... (Happened to some 930W one's I had...I wasn't aware that they had a max W on the output pins).

To be honest 45GBP to power 3 ants is in my eyes really do-able. I've got 3 PSU's at the moment. Might get another or might opt to get the 3x930W one's fixed if not too expensive Smiley

Do I need to configure the dlink to a specific subnet... if so how?
Only if the factory default LAN subnet is the same as your ISP router's subnet. Do you have access to the User manual of that D-Link?
MOST home network routers allow you to change the IP range of the subnet. It wil probably be somewhere in te BASIC settings of "LAN" on the D-Link.
Factory settings for it is to pull an IP address from ISP and provide local (192.168.x.x) addresses to devices connected to it.
Now this D-Link is pulling an IP address from your ISP router and this is its WAN address.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. I changed the standard IP of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.5; but if I want there to be a subnet...then I need to use e.g. 192.168.1.5 right?
Difficult to answer that question. Make sure there's no conflict between the ISP router and your D-Link, they have to be on 2 different subnets.

Post some screenshots if you are stuck.

Awesome ....got it all working....to an extend Smiley
I was able to setup the 2nd router.. changed all IP wan settings...and it started hashing... but after about 5min I lost the internet connection again.

It seems a bit more stable, but not stable enough. I switched off 2 ants and keep mining with 5... Expecting an 8th miner friday...so I hope everything is sorted by then.

Many thanks for all the support!

Ok I tried setting laptop ip to 192.168.1.254 I could connect with the previous setting of 192.168.1.94, but now I cant. I went into terminal and did: arp -na to reveal what is connected to the modem, and this shows up: (192.168.1.255) at ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff on en0 ifscope [ethernet]

I tried entering that address into my browser with the airport off and it still refuses to let me in. I can see that the mining pool is getting hashes from the miner so thats good. At least its mining now lol! But now its mining BTC, and I want to add some pools to switch to, and the little guy is being stubborn still. Any other reccomendations to try? Can I ssh into this thing and reboot it from there? Thanks for the help so far!

Ok interesting... I have a dlink dir615 extra.. but it's giving me problems (double ip etc).. Don't have a clue how to exactly go about connecting and ip configuring the second router (whether it will be on it's own subnet)...
In that case.... If I have all miners connected to a network switch.. then it would appear to the ISP that I only have 1 device connected right? All 7 ants were connected thru a 8port lan switch...

Yes 2nd router (between your devices and ISP router) will be on its own subnet.
No, a network switch is not a router, so each ant has its own IP address and appears as a unique device.
Use "Advanced IP Scanner" (free utility) to scan your current subnet and you will see a list of all your devices.

Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Reset your extra D-Link to factory settings (but before, know default factory login username and password).
2. make sure default subnet of the D-Link is NOT the same as the ISP router's subnet. You do not want BOTH routers on 192.168.1.x for example.
3. Connect the D-Link router to ONE of the LAN ports of the ISP's router, it will pull ONE LAN address (say, for example, 192.168.1.2)
4. Connect your switch to one of the LAN ports of the D-Link router. If all your devices are configured to pull IP addresses using DHCP, they will each get an IP address from the D-Link router. Let's assume you have configured your D-Link to be on 192.168.2.x subnet, then all your devices will be on the 192.168.2.x subnet.
5. If each of your ants has a static IP address (not using DHCP), then you will need to re-configure each one to have a unique address in the 192.168.2.x subnet

A bit of work, but should work! Smiley

Do I need to configure the dlink to a specific subnet... if so how?

I done the above (change ip of the dlink, connected the switch to the dlink) but suddenly 1 of the miners took the ip of the dlink?
Changed it back...but can't log on to the dlink, I need to connect it to my laptop in order to log on to it.

Many thanks for your help so far.. I never really understood networking etc.. since I started mining, I developed some basic understanding. No learning even more Smiley

Update....
Correct me if I'm wrong.. I changed the standard IP of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.5; but if I want there to be a subnet...then I need to use e.g. 192.168.1.5 right?

It could be indeed a max amount of devices....but then again... I had a problem last week...and there was some noise on my line so there was placed a filter ...blocking me from internet so that I didn't destabilize the whole street. They replaced the router and removed a little piece of wire. I think that there is still something causing a problem.
Will give them a call to check if they have a limit on devices placed on my line.
Thanks!

If they do indeed have a limit, one way around it is to put a router between your devices and the ISP's router so all your devices will appear as one device to the ISP's router.

Ok interesting... I have a dlink dir615 extra.. but it's giving me problems (double ip etc).. Don't have a clue how to exactly go about connecting and ip configuring the second router (whether it will be on it's own subnet)...
