Cast XMR does not recognize last video card
by
mojo_man
on 06/11/2018, 02:24:07 UTC
Hi,

We are running the 18.5.1 driver with the the new cast-xmr miner for v8.

The problem is that cast-xmr does not recognize the last video card. We run Vega 56 (flashed 64)/ We have tested using new risers, moving video cards to a new position yet the result is always the same. The last video card is not recognized by the software.

Our command line is:

Code:
cast_xmr-vega.exe -S xxxxx -u xxxxx -p x -G 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 --maxmem --fastjobswitch --i --reconnects=50 --ratewatchdog -R

For optimization, our launch script executes overdrive with the following parameters:

Code:
Name=Mining2
GPU_P0=852;800
GPU_P1=991;900
GPU_P2=1138;950
GPU_P3=1269;1000
GPU_P4=1312;1050
GPU_P5=1474;1100
GPU_P6=1477;900
GPU_P7=1527;905
Mem_P0=167;800;0
Mem_P1=500;800;0
Mem_P2=700;900;0
Mem_P3=900;950
Fan_Min=3000
Fan_Max=4900
Fan_Target=70
Fan_Acoustic=0
Power_Temp=70
Power_Target=-20

Any help would be appreciated.

A few newbie concerns about mining V8 Monero
by
mojo_man
on 04/11/2018, 03:58:53 UTC
HI guys,

1)I have 7 vega 56 rig GPU running the new cast XMR for v8. With the 18.51 driver the miner on miningpoolhub.com statistics stayed at 9150 H/S for two weeks. We have not done the HBCC off optimization yet so I was not worried about the drop in hashrate--we used to do 11-12 KH/S on v7. Just this week the hashrate even went up to 10.5 KH/S. But started this Thursday the hashrate on the pool went down. Now it is at 7.64 KH/S. I am a newbie but is it possible that something to do with miningpoolhub.com would have caused this? The hashrate on miningpoolhub.com is the hashrate that the pool thinks we are mining at. Could it be possible that something on their end is causing this? When I look at the graphs it does not seem we are getting many blocks. Is it that the pool has not been optimized for V8 yet?

2) Can someone post their config for CAST-XMR please for vega 56 mining v8 (I flashed mine to 64)? Want to see if I did everything ok.

3) I looked through some threads on this site. I see some people talk about a PPT optimization. What is that?

4) What other hash rate optimizations can you recommend for my miner config?

Thanks!

Cast Xmr settings after Monero hard folk
by

Hi

I have 7 Vega 56's running cast xmr.
I updated to 18.51 driver. With the setyings I have I can only get 9.0 or so for hash rate. Before the fork I could get 12 to 13.
Can someone suggest optimization for cast xmr miner?

Monero fork drop in hash rate
by
mojo_man
on 22/10/2018, 16:44:47 UTC
As of October 18th, mining pool told monero miners that they had to change miners--we use xmr-stak.
We changed ours. We run 7 VEGA 56 cards. We only get 9.2 to 9,3 on the graphs. This is 920 H/S I believe.
We used to be able to pull 1200 to 1300 hundred easily. Given that the difficulty is only 49XXXX, should not we be getting higher?
Any tips to re-optimize after the form would be appreciated.

Hi,

I figured it out.
I needed to put the coin in the URL: monero.miningpoolhub.com and I had to put a numeric value for my ID that is in my account info.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I have prepared the following URL to get my worker's hashrate.

https://monero.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=api&action=getuserhashrate&api_key=(API KEY)&id=(miner name)

Unfortunately, I get an access denied page.

I have searched for an answer to the problem. All the pages I found indicate an incorrect api_key, but I know mine is correct.

Can someone give some suggestions?

Thanks!

Help needed with Overdrive settings for 6 Vega56 GPU rig running cast-xmr
by

on 20/04/2018, 14:48:04 UTC
Hi!

I would like to thank everyone who helped me out getting my powerful rig up and running.
Running cast-xmr gives me approximately 1800H/s per card using the default Vega 56 bios which is really good.
The problem I am currently having is that 15 minutes after running, I get errors and the miner crashes.
I think the settings in the overdrive profile I am using from the vegaminingguide.com are too high.
I am not very knowledgeable about tweaking overdrive settings.
Can someone help me adjust the profile from vegamining guide below?

Code:
[Profile_1]

Need help configuring Vega 56 rig
by
mojo_man
on 14/04/2018, 23:27:31 UTC
Hi,

My friends and I have built a 6 GPU rig based around the VEGA 56 card. The 18.34 drivers from AMD are being used.
We are using the latest xmr-stak recommended on miningpoolhub.com since the algorithm has changed to cryptonight7.
The cards have not been flashed or mod'd in any way. I wanted to see if I could emulate what I read on xmr-stak.com. On xmr-stak.com I saw someone's setting's (unmod'd or flashed) and he claimed to get 2000H/S.
I tried my best using afterburner to emulate his settings. I also increased the intensity in the xmr-stak's config file to 1934.
Unfortunately, the best hashrate we can get is 1200H/S. The card is very quiet so we think it is not mining at full capacity clearly.

I am open to any and all suggestions to increase hashrate, including changing miners.
My Polaris editor 1.6.2 did not recognize the card. If mod'ing is required, please suggest an editor that will work with Vega.
As well, although we unlock voltage settings in afterburner, it does not give us the option to change it.
Running Windows 64 bit (non activated)

Re: BIOS Settings for GA-AB350-GAMING3

Your info seems isn't clear enough for everyone here to help you.

A card with low hashrate have an output? If it not, try to give output to this card. Your both cards are Power Color Red Dragon, right? Have you switch to compute mode? (if you are using Adrenalin). I can't give you more suggestions, cause we have a bit info about your system.

Hi,

The Powercooler one has a hashrate of 20 H/S when mining Expanse. BUT if I deactivate the Saphire card, the Powercooler ones jumps to 30H/S! I am in compute mode.
This leads me to believe that my MOBO does not have enough PCIe lanes to run both cards at the same time so, for some reason, the PowerCoooler's hashrate is affected.

Any more information, please let me know.

BIOS Settings for GA-AB350-GAMING3
by
mojo_man
on 31/03/2018, 03:41:30 UTC
Hi guys,

I decided to press one of my gaming servers into cryptomining production.
If I let one card run I get 30Mh/s while mining EXPANSE.
If both cards run, I only ger 20Mh/s on the second card.
I have a feeling the BIOS is reducing the number of lanes to one of the cards.
Odd part is it always the POWERCOOLER red dragon that has its hashrate no matter which slot I put it in.
Any ideas on how to remedy the situation?

on 10/02/2018, 16:45:26 UTC
Hi guys,

I tried running atiflash by the gui and it did not work--said something about bad subsystem id. Recommendations on the net said to use dos utility.
So I tried command line. Before flashing I ran atiflash -i

Quote
adapter bn dn fn dID       asic           flash      romsize test    bios p/n
======= == == == ==== =============== ============== ======= ==== ==============
   0    07 00 00 67DF Polaris10       R600 SPI         10000 fail       -
   1    09 00 00 67DF Polaris10       GD25Q21B         40000 pass 113-D0500300_105

I was worried when I saw that the test failed on 0. Then I realized that card 0 has micron memory. Is this normal? Does it mean it cannot be flashed?

What card you are trying to flash with what bios ? Did you modded your own bios ? Or trying to flash with some bios you dowloaded from the internet ?
The only way you make sure you are flashing the right bios is :
Save your bios file for each cards you have , mod them , and flash back the modded bios .
If you are downloaded some junk from the internet , make sure the downloaded bios file version is the same what you have on your cards !
If you flashing the your cards with the wrong bios  , you can brick your cards !!! ROM files are not interchangeable, same cards from same manufacturer can have a different bios version / different memory ...

There is a example for a bad flash ...
http://beszeljukmeg.com/ETH/badflash.JPG

Hi,

Hi,

I tried to flash the second card with my own mod''d BIOS'. It is too risky to use someone else's--I agree with you there.
I used ATIWINFLASH and it said bad system ID--I assume that means it could not flash. When I googled it on the internet the recommendation was to use command line.
That's when I got the results posted above. So can I download the BIOS using atiflash.exe, make a copy of it, mod the copy, and force the mod'd bios on the first?
Appreciate the help you guys giving me.

Hi,

I am interested in deploying HiveOs in a corporate environment.
We would not want our technicians to be able to see our wallet information.
Given that the OS has different levels of access, can we restrict what each account sees?

Hey buddy, you need to use polaris 1.6 one click patch to modify bios and then use ATiwinflash to flash the bios, there are many tutorials out there you can follow but it will increase your hashrate to 25-30 for each card.

Hi,

Thanks for your comment. I already will be doing what you suggest.
I just need to know from senior members if my strategy about the cclock and mclock is good:

Quote
Use Afterburner to set the cclock and mclock and undervolt.
Undervolting can just be done a little bit like 1 or two digits on the last number.
1300mhz for core clock to get best hashrate.
Memory clock should be set above 2000mhz.
Memory errors can be monitored using HWiNFO64.
How does that sound?

Two types of memory on one card is normal - Hynix and Elpida. Changes to BIOS "one click" is good, but do not forget about the next modification(cclock/mclock) of the card. Read the topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1954245.0

Hi,

I had a look at the link you mentioned in the last post--actually I read it like 4 times before posting.
I have already set up the block chain amd drivers
I came up with this strategy.
Use Polaris 1.6.4 to automatically optimize the straps on the video cards with the "one button" patch option. And use ATI FLASH to flash the bios with the new timings.
Use Afterburner to set the cclock and mckick and undervolt.
Undervolting can just be done a little bit like 1 or two digits on the last number.
1300mhz for core clock to get best hashrate.
Memory clock should be set above 2000mhz.
Memory errors can be monitored using HWiNFO64.

Thanks for your reply.
I have a couple of questions for you but I will ask one at a time. From miningpoolhub.com they gave me the above command line for the Expanse pool. I am not sure what is going on with this part of the line: -dpool stratum+tcp://hub.miningpoolhub.com:20550 -dwal username.worker2 -dpsw x -dcoin sc

I never see any silacoin appear in my mining. What is this part of the command line for? Do I really need it?

Since you are using Claymore Dual in the config and there is a second coin. In this case, Sia, but could be Decred.
Example:
https://i.imgur.com/1AM2uWj.jpg

If you want to extract only Expanse then delete this part of the line -dpool stratum+tcp://hub.miningpoolhub.com:20550 -dwal username.worker2 -dpsw x -dcoin sc
Did you specify the address of your Expanse wallet on the pool?

Hi,

I tried what you said and I am glad you suggested it. Means I am getting the hang of this mining stuff. Wink

I just specified my username and worker for the wallet. The money is collecting properly in my account on miningpoolhub.com
Now I just have to figure out the BIOS mod with Polaris Editor 1.6.4
I have another thread about it opened. I am wondering if it is okay to use the one click patch button. Oddly, the program detects two memory types on one of my cards.
I wonder if this is normal but I explain it in that post so I will not go into details here. Any help appreciated with that Polaris Editor issue.

Polaris Editor 1.6.7
by
mojo_man
on 09/02/2018, 00:14:46 UTC
Hi,

I downloaded the Polaris Editor 1.6.7 to mod my graphic cards.
Mining Expanse at stock speed gives me:
ETH - Total Speed: 50.227 Mh/s,
ETH: GPU0 22.624 Mh/s, GPU1 27.603 Mh/s

The first card has Micron memory according to GPU Z  Embarrassed
The second one has Hylix so I decided to first try with that card.
When I started the Polaris Editor 1.6.7, there is a button called "one click time patch".
When I click it says I have two memory indices: 1 is Samsung and 2 is Hynix.
For the Samsung 1 it says it wants to apply the good 1500 timing straps.
After I hit ok it says it wants to apply the good 1500 timing straps to Hyninx.
I was a little concerned since two types of memory are detected by this program?
Is this normal? And I thought I had to copy the memory straps from 1500 to another memory strap.
Can someone shed some insight into what is going on. Is it safe to use this one click time patch?

I did search on the net and did not find anything helpful. I try and research first, ask second. Wink

Also in one video I found on the subject, the user modifies his memory mv.
Mine is listed as 300mhz, 1000mhz, 2000mhz with all set to 1000mv. I am running a Saphire RX 580 8GIG. Should I change any of these values? If so, which ones to which values?
Thanks!

Re: Need help mining ethash
by

on 08/02/2018, 20:17:54 UTC
Hi,

I am running two RX580's.
These cards mine ethash the best.
The only pool I found dedicated to ethash was this one (if I am wrong please let me know): The Expanse Pool.
It recommends using the claymore dual miner which I did use. I am getting 1111 Mh/s combined for both cards for the sialcoin and about 36.892 Mh/s for Etherneum

I do have some questions/concerns:

I have disabled autoexchange coin and have set both workers to Expanse. But my etherneum value keeps on growing and not my Expanse one? Why is that My command line is as follows

Code:
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool us-east.ethash-hub.miningpoolhub.com:17020 -ewal username.worker1 -eworker username.worker1 -esm 2 -epsw x -allpools 1 -allcoins 1 -dpool stratum+tcp://hub.miningpoolhub.com:20550 -dwal username.worker2 -dpsw x -dcoin sc

Should I be using a second worker for the 20550 pool? I think so, so I thought I would ask.

I really just want to mine Expanse. Assuming the sialcoin is Expanse and I am getting 1111 mh/s on that one, I could make more coin if I just mined that.
Can someone tell me what I should do differently?
Sorry if I come out as being a little clueless. I have just been mining for three weeks. SO just trying to figure thing out.
Based on whattomine I am better off mining ethash with rx580 cards.

Because you are setting the wrong port of the pool to mine Expanse.
Try this: EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool us-east.ethash-hub.miningpoolhub.com:20565 -ewal username.worker1 -eworker username.worker1 -esm 2 -epsw x -allpools 1 -allcoins 1 -dpool stratum+tcp://hub.miningpoolhub.com:20550 -dwal username.worker2 -dpsw x -dcoin sc

17020 is the port of auto-selection of more profitable coins on the algorithm ethash

36.892 Mh/s - this is a low hashrate for two RX580
You need to modify BIOS cards and frequency settings (cclock/mclock).

Thanks for your reply.
