Looks like Cedivad may have gotten his full BTC back.
So, by refunding BTC to Mr Cedivad, HF finally admits that the refund should equal to the original amount of BTC spent? Thus, everyone else is getting the same amount of BTC spent? HF turns out to be a decent company after all.

I don't know what that means, but I'm down for it.

Status update for the refund on one of my three Neptunes:

  • 12/29 - 11:06pm ET: Sent email to sales@kncminer.com asking for refund
  • 12/29 - 11:06pm ET: Automated response confirming my request was received
  • 12/30 - 8:37AM ET: Kurt from KnC tells me that my order has been canceled as requested and he asks for my wire transfer info
  • 12/30 - 8:49AM ET: I respond to Kurt's request with my info and inquire about whether I can be refunded in the equivalent amount of bitcoin instead
  • 12/30 - 9:21AM ET: Kurt responds to confirm that the refund has been initiated to my bank account and that they do not offer refunds in bitcoin

I have no idea if/when the next sale for Jupiters may be, but it looks like the refund process is extremely quick! I'll update once more when I see the money in my bank account.

I sent an email on 26th to get an RMA for 2 damaged coolers and still nothing. It was a reply to an email that said: If you wish to return the damaged cooler then we can provide you with an RMA number and send a replacement.
Also on the 4th December I sent an email to Sam and nothing.
Maybe you are emailing the wrong department?...    customerservice@kncminer.com
I get quick responses there.

I have always emailed support@kncminer.com and it always works. They will probably reply after the holidays. I am not in a hurry anyway.
I give that address, because I've been in communication on it all thru the holidays, even at 2am sweden time I got responses... but..your choice.

last response was......Dec 29 19:42  (Sweden time)

Why do you need to be in communication with them all the time? What would you talk to them about?

I was totally eager to share a delicious recipe for biscuits.

I get it. Got to get that brown nosin' in to maybe secure some freebies later on or preferred treatment. My large testicles don't allow me to do that.

Oh shut up, Mr. Phoenix is right.

Wouldn't it be better for existing customers if KnC didn't ship any more hardware till Neptune ?
The november(December) batch just added 3PH to the network.  The October batch added at least 2PH.

Yeah, I would prefer them not to release anything. I hoped those big manufacturers to have some sort of contact with each other, agreeing not to flood the network.
Yeah... they all get together and agree not to make money....  Huh  Not a chance in Hell bud.
I can't think of a single reason that would  motivate a Vendor/Manufacturer to do such a thing...
I can see it now... Andreas Kennmar telling BFL-Josh... "Sure ... We will wait until you are caught up"  Tongue Tongue Tongue
Ok, let me give you an example. Big companies hold their certain share of the network. If they try to destroy each other, it's possible that only one will dominate at the end. Rather than taking a chance to be destroyed, they come to an agreement and maintain their profits (continue mining on their equipment and continue slowly selling equipment). Reasonable?
But I guess with hashing ASIC design being pretty simple, too many new companies are popping up. So yeah, it probably wouldn't have worked well.

10 BTCs may not be enough if the drop keeps dropping. You'll need more like 15+ as it what seems to be happening.

No no, I am not touching those 10 btcs. I am ready to spend only what I may lay a hand onto on top of that. Which is like 3-4btcs  Roll Eyes.

Considering BTC is going through a slow crash we may not see those awesome high prices again just a few weeks back. I remember selling 1 coin for $1000. Not it is half that, and my miner isn't making coin any faster. This down trend makes me think twice before dumping any more money into mining hardware. KNC "should" sell their Jupiters for what they were charging for their Saturns, which was $2995. I actually paid the higher original price and then KNC lowered the price on all of us and gave us the middle finger if we asked to be compensated for the difference. Right now preev has it at $550. And now an entire government is trying to ban bitcoin from its own country. This is a real hard time for bitcoin right now, because we are putting basically value on nothing. At least with real money, it is tangible in my pocket. This is the first time I'm feeling pretty bad about the whole industry....I think the global banking world is just too powerful right now for bitcoin and we'll probably never see BTC go over $100 again once it eventually dips that low. Most of bitcoin users hoard their coin anyway. And that's not helping anything. They just can't let it go.

Then on the Jupiters possibly going on sale....I'm sure you noticed that KNC has posted their holiday hours right on their front page recently. This is in preparation to list the Jupiters, because if they are listed anytime before Januray we all know we won't see a delivery until after the New Year, but KNC will be added a few million to their bottom line numbers before the year is out. They wanna go out with a bang apparently.

It was fun while it lasted I guess....

Yeah, it was impressive to see someone dumping 2000 coins at once on Gox yesterday. But I am not so pessimistic. Way too much money has and is being poured into bitcoin-related businesses and it has very good worldwide exposure. I think of it as facebook of cryptos. Probably not the best, but will be dominant due to overwhelming popularity. So, I am setting aside my 10 btcs and not touching it. If new Jupiters are priced so that I have to dig into that, well then no Jupiter for me.

Hey ice,  you have any contacts at hash fast?  They seem to have gone MIA during the home stretch.

There are million things to take care of during the home stretch.

Adding personnel to the customer support team is one of them.   Tongue

I'm sure they are swamped with orders, inquiries, etc. because of all the BTC hype in general and their spectacular 500GH/sec/chip achievement in particular.
Whats interesting is the long term charts show that BTC is heading way down in price. It will tick up one last time, then comes the nose dive. That is a good thing for those of us holding cash. A bad thing for those holding BTC.

what indicators do you have for making bold predictions like that?  how can you predict 'just one spike' ?  and how do you predict 'heading way down' ?

since you've mentioned both an up, and a down, i presume you won't be wrong, since a volatile asset like btc will always fulfil those indications.

I won't post any graphs or graphics since I don't want to give away anything helpful. But read your stochastics at different intervals and then compare with MACD indicators at different scales of time.

It is obvious. The whales with the most BTC are waiting for one last rise then comes the big dump as the whales will drop their BTC into the markets (and pick up fiat to hold). People like me are looking to buy up BTC at Sub 400$ prices.

Edit: If you haven't already, I would recommend during the next rise you keep at least 7k to 10k cash on hand to ride out the bottoming out over the next 2 months or so. (daily/monthly expenses etc) (So you don't have to convert BTC at extremely cheap rates)

It will likely go up again, it usually does. Corrections are just the way of the market.

Wow, this was impressive prediction

dropping fast. wow.

At $1000/BTC it's close to $100 million are being generated every month for another few years. Of course that price is unsustainable.

Stop suggesting/guessing high prices here. Yes, they will sell out at higher prices. But I think is thanks to some fucker here that said "want it below 10K for neptunes", they made the price at $9995. Otherwise, I am sure they would have made it something like $5-7k and I might have had a shot on one of them there Neptunes.

I'd like to clarify that 50 btcs mined per Jupiter as someone mentioned here is more of an exception applicable to select few. I received my Saturn (1/2 of Jupiter) around 20th of October (and I was pretty far from last in the queue). If I didn't spend some btcs on upgrade modules I would've made just about 16 btcs by now.

Avenger...
I love you too....sweetie....    I sense a bit of jealousy and resentment.
Fact is... those who got KNC Equipment did well, and continue to do so.
You should have got one... admit it.
Your bashing is like a fart in the wind....   insignificant.
Guess you can't tell us where the asic deals recommended by Avenger are?

I am pretty sure he had an order. I remember during the stressful time waiting for October units some malicious troll said that orsoc is going bankrupt. I think it was him who posted a picture of a guy having a heart attack. So he was pretty stressed at that moment. But maybe he cancelled and requested refund. I don't know.

I'm not sure how to respond to such a polite request. Perhaps Kano can answer for me since he has a way with words.
Pretty please ...?
