Thumbs up on this. Thanks for the hard work in the Crypto space as well as including a concise synopsis on so many coins in the book.
Good fortune with it.

I'm listening. What kind of dialogue have you personally had with them up to this point East?
Give us your sentiments and please remind us all exactly who all are the the gatekeepers involved/holding those coins.
Both Mintpal version 1 as well as version 2 if you are in possession of that as well as total coins estimated by those gatekeepers if they have offered that info to you (or what you surmise).

Maybe the people who can pass our Mintpal dbase KARMA wallet  is waiting for us to offer some kind of "donation" for their "legal fee"

what do you think gusy? I think we should not let 2014 end without at least getting that DASE safe in  community hand??.

Social Media Tipping Bot

Very interested to see what we can work out with respect to this.
Would like to additionally see some type of plug and play option for independent websites allowing community members of a website to tip each other for their content uploads.
Maybe this is what is proposed(?) with this "Social Media Tipping Bot....or is this to be specifically developed only for youtube/facebeook as a plugin?

Hello all,

Sorry for the silence but we are all very busy to get things working again for Karma. We are not completed yet but here is what we have done so far.

- created a new permanent home for the Karma Website @ www.givekarma.net sponsored by Swiss Cryptotech
- the old Website karmacoin.me has been forwarded to the new homepage (Thanks to BitWho talking care of that)
- We have added the Karma BlockExplorer original from socoban and linked it in the website
- Current Wallet versions 0.8.6.5 are available for download

What is coming next: (not in any specific order)
- small improvements to the Karma BlockExplorer incl. documentation (so everyone can use it for themselves)
- new Wallet's incl. 32/64bit Linux Wallet
- Karma API
- Social Media Tipping Bot

And of course all this is not possible without the help of the Community!

What we are looking for:

1. Karma Bloggers / Content writer for and about Karma related topics on the new Website
2. Karma Forum Admin who takes care of the new Karma Forum (phpBB based).
3. Maybe a web-/graphic designer who creates some nice picture for the Website

so if you are interested please drop me a message.

Thanks again for your patience
best,
scryptminer

Please don't assume that most people are happy to go with V1 balances only.
I have 0 Karma on V1.
I have 100 million Karma on v2 and can prove with a screenshot.

For the people that are suggesting relying on less than v2 username proof. Are you suggesting we either simply use v1 balances (100% provable, some people will lose 100% of their Karma) or a lower standard of evidence to prove v2 balances?

I think most people are  happy to go with the V1 balances. Using the V2 balances seems like a lot more work for very little extra benefit. I was one of the first people who was able to actually trade on V2 and as socoban said (and I agree) there were very few trades done before the whole thing blew up in everyone's faces.

Thanks for the efforts.
Any further details as you can....and when you can make them.....would be much appreciated.

Hi Guys, I've been away for a few days now. But in the process, I am putting together a team of developers, all of them new to crypto, but very good at their work. The learning curve is steep so the earliest they could get to work on this coin is January 2015. Meanwhile, to be fair to the large wallets: Its not fair to penalize them, they believed in the coin while the rest of us were elsewhere, let us work with them. They could finance the development of features and services around the coin. We could also have Off exchange buying and selling of the same coins.

Good job. I should looking forward for your team do next

Interesting reading Sniveling. Thanks for the leg work and listing the resources.

Why not do a snapshot of the blockchain and create a new V2 coin containing all the old coin's addresses with balances intact? Clam coin did it by taking snapshots of the bitcoin and doge coin blockchains. All you have to do is import your bitcoin or doge coin addresses to get an amount of clam coins proportional to your original balance.

Do you have a link or example you can provide? I like this idea but it is easier to visualize in practice. I also know the guy that did the ADT swap but he wanted 3k which is what he charged Zack way back in Jan when all the Alts were hitting their peak.

The clam coin source code is available here.

https://github.com/nochowderforyou/clams

The clam coin thread is at this link (CLAMs is trading on poloniex).

There is also a thread discussing various techniques of doing snapshots here.

To follow up on that attorney action (urgent injunction) I posted earlier today, it's my understand now that Syscoin has initiated it (please don't quote me - do your own research):

yes, this is exactly my experience as well.

Ken, only do test withdraws. I did 10 Karm and 999 Karm, neither of which made it to me. So at this point I am just chillin like Bob Dillan until I feel comfortable they have worked through this snafu.

Has anyone withdrawn karma, or ltc, successfully from mintpal?
My ballense seems to be correct,  but haven't tried to withdraw...

me too I test sent coins from mintpal to my wallet and got "completed" with the txID

08555300c9f48ac6fd26d6a3789efe3b1932fba26638d729cb5b249164385e4c

but neither the transaction nor the coins have shown up.
we may need to contact mintpal and make sure they are using the correct COIND

I can confirm this as well. Had a couple of different coins on mintpal and the account did not show up/migrate over to their version 2.
They did in fact rectify that.

I did do a test Karma coin transfer back to my wallet and although it is showing up on their system as confirmed, it was not received. Forgive me while I go quickly look into that.

I'm sorry to hear your problem.
It is the same that happened to me last Wednesday.

I've seen some people use Twitter with some success.
The exchange is having major problems.

+1

mintpal has been having major problems since the launch of V2... please everybody, when using any new service, make sure you test your deposits and withdrawals with small amounts of coins BEFORE sending large amounts of coins.

+1

And keep the coins in your wallets.

Dave, let us know more about this when you have time please.

The __ONLY__ thing that karma needs is the hostname that has been put into the source-code that points to either a wallet or a seednode. Whoever controls that controls karma.

EVERYTHING ELSE CAN BE DONE BY ANYONE!!!! IF YOU HAVE SOME TECH/SERVICE JUST RUN IT!!!!! YOU DON'T NEED PERMISSION!!!!

*GASP* THERE CAN BE MORE THAN ONE MERCHANT API IMPLEMENTATION *GASP*

GO GO GO

...

YES we can AND that is something Andre, Perica and I have been discussing -- the idea of establishing multi-continent, redundant checkpointing nodes as well as the websites replication and redundancy.   They would run the EU servers and we would run the US infrastructure.

Trust me you WANT the wallets to be built by someone with good intentions.

Strength in Numbers Foundation has committed to doing source-code scanning (dynamic and static using a tool like HP's Fortify) for the wallets we will build.  Also malware scanning and digital signature services.

We would like to blend in the work that Clean Water Coin has recently done with its new wallet by adding a "Donation" tab and a nominal transaction that benefits the on-going support.  But that's up to the Board of Stakeholders to decide and approve.

VERY nice work!!
1 million sent to you.

Who is next? Come on guys.
Also, send some to the community fund.
We've seen some MONSTER huge bagholders here and it is easy to discern they have not donated based on total donations tabulated thus far.
Step up.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are back Smiley

It took a lot more work than I ever planned on doing when I first created fedoracha.in, so if you'd like to encourage me to keep it up, donations are welcome at the address available at the bottom of the page.

Check out all donations that have made to fedoracha.in by clicking on the address at the bottom of the page to see what others have donated!

A most excellent post.

Thelittleduke:

Could you please share with us your intention to help us with taking over the services and trademarks?  what do you intend to do with them? Why the desire to step in? What would that mean to us if you take them over? Do you accept the fact that whiles in your possession they will be still owned by the whole community. Will you have difficulty releasing them back to us after months of you keeping them?

You linkin profile shows you have had tons of experience in management and are a software engineer. Both of these are strong assets that would benefit karma. But we never talked with you and the community knows nothing of your intentions.

We also do not know if you understands our community as well. This community likes to speculate a lot and does little to join those who are trying to help. We do not want to fall into an other category where services are closed due to lack of involvement from karmanians.

i can't blame them as most them think by buying and holding is the help we need on their parts. Which is an insane illusion as they buy and hold for their own interest. This is a general consensus on whole crypto world. We are having difficult time trying to break this mentality. Therefore who ever is willing to take over the services will have to understand it will be a long journey and they will probably get stuck picking up the cost. We will try out best to collect funds to reimburse you but it will not happen easily. So you must understand what you're walking into

Bitwho-

Thank you for engaging in a thoughtful and open dialogue.  I appreciate and welcome the questions and will do my best to answer them.

I've been writing code since just pre Apple ][+ days.  I've written compilers and runtime systems, hold or contributed to several patents, and lately since getting an MBA have been doing a tour of duty through a variety of industries.  I built an ISP from just three analog phone lines (1 x 28.8k upstream and 2 x 14.4k for customers!) up through six acquisitions and one merger consolidating five data centers and taking in services via OC-12.  Including filing and becoming a licensed CLEC to offer VOIP services in MN using a Class-5 Metaswitch.  I still code to this day, preferring Python and a little PHP when necessary.

Fundamentally there is only so much hashpower chasing too many coins.  We are already seeing the very beginning of a consolidation with the AUXPOW work the Dogecoin team put in place to allow it to be merge mined along with Litecoin.  The ASICS have sucked most of the fun out of mining.  The future of crypto is in value-added services.

My interest in Karma is multi-fold.  I like the name and the marketing side of it since day one.  My own personal philosophy centers on Buddhism so the whole "karmic debt / karmic boomerang" thing appeals to me.

I took over the Givecoin when it was on the verge of falling apart as well -- partially because we had made an investment into the coinbase by acquiring shares on the open market Bittrex (we currently hold about 15% of all mined coins to date) -- as the reserve / internal currency for https://doabitofgood.com

There is a natural synergy between the two stated purposes as well as a potential to merge mine the two -- or even combine them in a new better coin.  As of right now we are still listed on Bittrex in a disabled status while we fix our broken KGW and migrate to a Proof of Stake based model which is more compatible we believe with the tenants around doing good.

Our REALLY exciting prospect at Strength in Numbers Foundation is the http://www.idcoins.org -- a coinbase for Identity and Reputation -- Karma could be a good related side chain to act as the stand in for the Reputation component.

As for the community I have a pretty good idea of what motivates them.  I have also watched with great dismay at the lack of sophistication and understanding of basic market mechanics.  Fundamentally Karma is a 'product' and a product needs a consumer base.  You cannot push the product onto the market and expect it to reward you.  You cannot impact the price by throwing more hashpower at it.

As for reimbursement, I don't need any.  I've been mining since 2010 time frame and in fact built the worlds first OCTO-BAMT system.  I have more than enough crypto-assets of my own to leverage and I have grown and sold several businesses.

What I WOULD want of the community is a bunch of "Karma Ambassadors" -- people who do outreach and build the community by getting more people involved.  Introducing our coins to groups who could use it -- create donations to get them involved -- because fundamentally we need to EXPAND the economy and create more velocity in the transactions.

Personally I would like to see the coinbase have some sensical and rational number of coins -- 92 Billion is pretty unbelievable and very few people can get their head wrapped around a number that large.

Also, I would strongly suggest the base move to a more POS based reward system for those that want to hoard coins.

Take marketing number like 10 Billion -- closer to the world population and socialize a "karma for everybody" approach.

It could become the coinbase of reputation -- but I think the current holders have to give up the fantasy that its going to magically increase in value because they want it to.

I never thought Bitcoin was the "be all end all" of crypto currencies but rather a stepping stone to something greater.  I don't think Karma is the end game either.  We can create something that actually captures peoples hearts and minds and remove as much of the taint of "get rich quick" odor so many alts suffer from.

The coins that are going to survive have to offer something other than a currency.  Bitcoin already holds that designation.  Whatever advantage Litecoin held with a faster confirmation and a "harder algorithm" as all but evaporated.  The only thing X11,X13 et al offers is a way to "re-level the playing field for new entrants" -- nothing is immune from being turned into an ASIC.  What we need are new models of reward like "proof of storage" and others.

I hope that helps to explain my background and interest as well as some of what's top of mind for me and Karma.

Let me know what else you'd like to know?
