The difference is on exchanges you can only buy BTC/LTC/DOGE.. but not any physical things.
But at http://www.reddit.com/r/MovieCoin/ you can buy some real things like tickets using moviecoin.
We are looking forward moviecoin to be a standard coin around all movie related industry.
