Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.7 (Windows/Linux)

Hi @Claymore,

Very happy with your mining program thus far, thanks for the continual updates and your contribution. I have a question for you.

I have two cards;

MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X                             -  [24-25 mh/s]
MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X+ (with 9gbps ram) -  [20-21 mh/s]

Any idea why the 9gbps card would perform slower? Any plans to optimize this? I know there are a lot of us out there with the 9 gbps cards, so it would certainly be beneficial to us all.

Thanks,

Daniel

Claymore's Dual Ethereum + Decred/Siacoin/Lbry/Pascal AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner.
=========================

Latest version is v9.7:

- Added ASM mode for RX460/560 cards, up to 30% speedup for second coin in dual mode.
- Improved ETH speed for some Nvidia cards.
- Improved speed in dual mode for Nvidia cards.
- reduced initialization time.
- a few minor bug fixes and improvements.
- EthMan: added ability to select several rigs.
- EthMan: several minor bug fixes and improvements.

And short answer is (which also applies to gtx1080 , gddr5X card) :
GDDR5X memory have GOOD throughput (which makes it fine for zCash),
but very BAD latency, which also makes it BAD for ETHereum minig.

I doubt ANY software optimizations could be made regarding GDDR5X cards and ETH,
so ... just avoid them, unless you planned to mine zCash.

p.s. You caould also make zCash test, i am also curious if you gain some speed on gddr5X card vs "normal" one.

Using R9 280X with modded bios and some overclocked GPU. v12 works fine. Tested over 2-3 days working without issuies.

With v12.1 only 1st intensity is most stable. With any other intensity miner after about 10 min starts to show 0 hashrates and 0% GPU load.
With 1st intensity miner works normal 20-30 min and then speed is 0 too. Miner restarts and so on.

Returning back to v12. It's stable for me.

Windows 10 Pro.
Tryed 15.12 drivers, disable overclocking. Nothing helps.
Any other miners works fine. PSU 60-70% load.

After some couple of days testing, i find 16.3.2 drivers performs better in terms of stability than 15.12,
on all my 7970/280x/380/390 rigs...
And it happens on v12.0 and v12.1 miner ... (got some strange instability with 280x rigs, and tried 16.3.2,
everything works perfect so far).

b.r.
Alex
Thanks! I'll try 16.3.2.

P.S. Are you tried other WHQL versions like 16.12.2, 16.9.2, 16.7.3?
im using 16.10.2, and its fine, tried 16.12.2 and no success....
Just installed 16.3.2 testing 12.1 in progress...
On 16.10.2 7970/280x/380/390 rigs works without hangs?

EDIT: After 13 minutes of mining on 16.3.2 + v12.1 with maximum intensity GPU0 hangs (280X). Try to lowing intesity by one step.
Interesting that 270X works stable on any driver and max.intensity with 12.1...

EDIT2: Intensity 4 couses hangs 280X so as 5... Trying 3...

EDIT3: Intensity 3 also hangs 280X... Trying 2... I have feeling that low intensity hangs more quickly... 5 - 13 min. 4 and 3 - less than 5 min. Or it's random...

EDIT4: Even Intensity 1 and 2 causes 280X to hang... I think it's no a driver problem...

Ramp up voltage on that card a bit up ... see what will happen, it should work normal with -i 5

Also, take off the extender cables, clean contacts on both card and small board that goes in motherboard. Re-test.

and ... last but not least - you mentioned "modded" 280x ? Which way it was modded ? You flashed some modded bios,
that you found on this forum (bad idea), or you manually modded lower straps into higher ones ?
also, what is the card manufacturer / exact model ?

anyone have good settings for and msi twin frozer rx 470 8gb
windows 7

If you mean clock/voltages ... gpu 1200-1233 , ram 1750, voltage, depending on asic quality from -80 to -96, memory straps from 1500MHz.

After I moved one (Sapphire) of my 2 cards from "normal" pcie x16 slot to riser I get 15 H/s less on average on that card.

Also I switched my monitor from Sapphire to MSI.

Second card (MSI) which was always on riser stayed the same.

I have those blue usb 3 risers, could this be an riser issue? Or something else?

(v12.1, 15.12, oc settings same as before)

Of course, whan card is in slot, and working at higher PCI-E ratio/generation, cpu-to-gpu latency is lower, and thats why you see a bit higher speed.

4x 280x, 1 of my cards restarts the rig even without asm and with i 0, I can't reduce it any lower, had to revert to 11.1, no OC at all.

The same problem here. One of my 280x hangs causing multiple restarts of the watchdog!  Never happened before!
I've been having same problem , at this point a clean reinstall of 15.12 seems to have my 9xR9 280x in 2 rigs at i 5 and i 4,4,6,7 getting avg 300 h/s for 2+ hrs

I could do 6/6/1/5 for a few hours, then I kept going lower to have no restarts every 2-3-4hours and in the end everything crashes, even with i 0. I know one of my cards is a bit trashed, can only go at low clock mem but it does go for years like that with an other algo or miner, so it's not like the card shat itself completely, it had a 400hour uptime with 11.1 before I switched.

Try disconnecting card by card, and cleaning pins on graphics card, also clean pins on extender cable that goes to mainboard,
with (i know it's funny, but works) simple toilet paper slice, reconnect it all back,
put intensity -i 4 , clocks 1030-1040 gpu / 1500 mem , and test again.

This miner needs a bit higher voltages than before (or lower clock - whatever you choose).

Also, on this version of miner, some "weakly connected cards" or bad extenders are showing their true nature...

as i tested, drivers have nothing with it, at least in my case(s).
15.12, 16.10.x, 16.11.x ... all works normal (some crashed, but after cleaning pcie-extenders, all gone well).

I can confirm bug with wrong hashrate if you use "-li" or "-ttli" options. These options add delays after every GPU round, so GPU is free for some time and therefore it becomes cool. But v12 measures GPU round time not including these delays so you see same hashrate. I will fix it in next update. This bug was added during porting miner to Linux, I don't remember exact version number.

Another bug is - broken -di command on (mixed?) system with 3 x RX-470 + 2 x R9-280X

ie: if i put -di 2,3 it starts 3 cards instead of 2 ...
everything workis fine, if i put -di 0,1,2,3 etc.

**** EDIT:

All works fine if i put -di 234 ...

Didnt pay attention, since i just copy/pasted bat from older version,
and it worked on previous version(s) ... strange

so, is it bug or not ... now i'm not even sure Cheesy

Yeah Fury needs to be on older drivers...if you have newer ones, then I think V10 is the best, with 395 sol/s.  Nice speed increase for 390s and 280x, although after fees its pretty similar to optiminer.  Should we expect another update soon ?  I have some trouble to get optimum speeds with tongas, optiminer gets better results at 225-230 sol/s so far.  Maybe i'm missing something.

Yeah I did not concentrate on tonga cards.
I can reach 430H/s on stock 390X. Or I can try to add Pascal coin to dual miner, or improve CryptoNight miner. Need to select.

Question is - how much can you pull out of Pascal (which is modded sha256) out of current SGMiner speed (which is on other hand, almost full speed at sha256) ?

IMHO, it may have some sense on your's (and my too) favourite card - 390/390x, which, in my opinion doesnt get full speed on PASCAL.

If it's some 10% or more (or 15-20% on 390/390x), may have some sense to make a miner for it ...

Yes of course. Mixed combinations work normal. Tested with 16.11.1 drivers, all works normal and good speed.
AsRock FM2+ BTC Board, Win7/x64 Ultimate, 6xGpuMod.

Sorry for offtopic, what board you recomend for FM2+ socket?

ASRock FM2A88X+ BTC
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/FM2A88X+%20BTC/

Or ... if you are overseas (USA), there's a new products in the field ... old good BIOSTAR!
Dirtcheap of course, and intel platform.

and
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=849

tnx for your response for my last question

my motherboard  is z97 gaurd pro and i have 5 r9 390x can i use all of them on windows 7 64?

Absolutly YES. Big chance that even 6 of them will work normal (and that is not the case with RX series).

Is it possible to successfully mine with 470 and 280x in one rig ? Which version of driver will be the best choice?

Yes of course. Mixed combinations work normal. Tested with 16.11.1 drivers, all works normal and good speed.
AsRock FM2+ BTC Board, Win7/x64 Ultimate, 6xGpuMod.

is there some modded bios for 390 improving mining?  Cool

Yes, but not publicly available in most cases. If you have many cards, PM me for custom mod. ~5% speed increase guaranteed.

Thinking of buying a 390 for mining, and I know many people have already asked this, but what are the stock hashrates for a single card in claymore 11.1?
Thanks in advance.

~370+ H/s @ 1085/1500MHz, -65mV

guys please answer to my question
how many gpu windows 7 64 bit can support?

5x Polaris Cards 100%, 6 Cards ... hardly, on boards i tested (AsRock BTC, Intel and AMD).
Maybe in mixed configurations (ie: 4x Polaris + 2x Hawaii/Tahiti/Tonga) can work, didnt have time to test, though Cheesy

gigabyte 7950 v1 1050/1300 220H/s, Sapphire vapor x 280x 1100/1600 265H/s
moded bios.

Your bios mod for 280x sucks, Sapphire 280x @ 1085/1625 = 305 H/s (Hynix), Elpida gives even more...
Stock clocks with bios mod gives ~270 H/s ...

Hello guys. Little help please Smiley

I run 3x470 + 2x390 system with h81 pro btc. But I lost some hashrate on the 390`s. It shows me 295 h/s with 16.9.2 driver. I tried with 16.12.2 but the system fails when load desktop. Any idea which driver will go 3xx and 4xx series and keep 350h/s for the 390`s?
https://gyazo.com/4a94a71e46c36ee0996538db1b045668

Put 470 card in x16 slot, and the rest 2 next in x1 slots, 390's in rest 2 slots.
Should be fine. Pay attention that "synchronize similiar cards" option doesnt work correctly on newer drivers.
Uncheck it and set each card manually.

p.s. 16.11.1 Drivers give normal speeds in Polaris/Tahiti combo's, tested.

I wonder is there anything for 280x with hynix BFR memory.
Seems no one done for those.

Just ask ... will always mod for you  Wink

Download https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6R3UoULhg3cbWYwVlYzNmUtSGc

Modded with straps from 1250MHz --> 1375MHz , 1500MHz  (1500MHz Should kick ass - ~80+ sols/sec)

p.s.1 - Flash with AtiFlash.exe from command prompt,  atiflash -f -p X rom_name.rom  , x = card number given by atiflash -i

p.s.2 - This is not some "Dirty hack" with timing tables from some totally other card, but timing table from same card's bios, for that specific memory (BFR).

Great but..
"Invalid Checksum"

-- fixed.

In fact, wrong checksum on memory timings doesnt matter,
So i force flash it with atiflash from command prompt.

P.s. i also have some msi 280x, didnt check which memory is inside,
But bios is larger than on older 280x/7970 (they put new serial flash ic in, its double the size),
Modding gave me some solid results, should be good for your card, too. (Sustained 80+ sols/s).

@others, dont flash this bios randomly. It's gonna brick your cards. It's only for mentioned msi card.

Have anice day.

Now, since I cant contact you other way,
because you don't have "normal" contact ways, like all normal pools and people,

I lost many SnakeCoin because I couldn't withdraw it, your pool contact on IRC is banned.

will you ever make some normal contact form on your pool, or should we all avouid your pool in future ?
and, of course, that someone should reply on that ?

plus, why you put 2% fee, when all others are 1% or less ? not enough money or what ?
(not to mention that constant vardiff changes, and calculated earnings vs real earnings, which are always less than should be)

one small step to permanently left your pool, now and forever, and with me some dozen of people,
