The purpose of this change is keeping rewards attractive until Alternodes come to life as they represent a major milestone in our development process. Once that happens, a different reward allocation will be set in place to accommodate the new dynamics of our ecosystem. A hard fork will take place at block 1,131,400, diverging from the old reward structure, so make sure to update all of your nodes as soon as possible!

We have an important update regarding the future change of algorithm such that CPU mining becomes profitable again. We have decided to go for a dual mining algorithm solution so we can keep everyone in the game. The two algorithms will be RandomX, a CPU friendly algorithm developed by Monero, and Argon2d16000, the one we currently have in use.

We have also been discussing about the possibility of freezing rewards (both MN and PoW) at current levels until Alternodes come into play as they will have their own reward which changes things up a bit. With the current scheme, rewards are bound to decrease down to 2/2/2 (MN/PoW/DevFund) in one year from now, but with the latest influx of newcomers we believe keeping rewards a little higher, at 4/4/2, should allow for more growth. Inflation can be used as a tool to attract new people and that is what we have in mind. After analyzing several financial models, this scenario proves to have the most benefits: more rewards, inflation still under 10% per annum, improved liquidity, 20% of new rewards going to the DevFund instead of 33%. This measure will be taken only after we are in agreement with the community so speak up on our Discord server!

• New command "listowneddomains" added which returns the list of domains registered by the current wallet

• Many changes ported over from Dash and Bitcoin, our codebase now being in line with Dash v0.14.0.5
• Code for ChainLocks and LLMQ-based InstantSend is added in this version and it remains to be activated at a later time
• Added three Long Living Masternode Quorum (LLMQ) configurations better suited for Alterdot: LLMQ_10_60, LLMQ_20_60 and LLMQ_30_80
• The Alterdot network will switch to using only LLMQ_10_60 at block 1,050,000 therefore triggering a hard fork, the two other configurations will be activated in later versions
• Fixed the synchronization progress bar which wasn't loading in accordance with the downloaded blocks
• Protocol version bumped to 70015. After block 1,050,000 all older versions of Alterdot will be rejected
• Removed unnecessary Dash themes
• Added fixed seeds

You can now start registering and reserving domain names on the Alterdot blockchain! All you have to do to accomplish this is go to your wallet console and use the command "registerdomain example_name example_content". In this case the domain example_name will point to the text "example_content". You will be able to update it afterwards by using the command "updatedomain" with any IPFS/IPNS hash or text that you want.

The Blockchain Domain Name System can point to any text such as an IP address, an IPFS/IPNS hash, an Alterdot (or any other cryptocurrency) address or any other text. Our use case will focus on the IPFS-Blockchain entanglement but you can build anything you want with it. The names and the text that they point to can contain many types of characters such letters, numbers, dots, dashes, underline, comma and more. The length limits are 80 characters for names and 69 characters for content, in time these limits might grow.

Reserve any domains you might want to use with a cost of 0.2 ADOT by using the command mentioned above. Two important things to note: let your wallets fully synchronize before using the BDNS, and second, your domains will expire after one year. As a disclaimer, keep in mind that this functionality is experimental so bear with us as it gets developed. Problems might come up that could hinder the usage of this functionality. This is one of the main reasons for having such a low price at this initial stage of the BDNS.

In the not too distant future we will be releasing a browser plugin that will integrate with the Alterdot Blockchain DNS.

I've already registered a couple of domains and have put together some ideas (below) on tld's that could be used with this as there are no restrictions on what can be registered unlike other chains.

Yes we are planning to list Alterdot on a more popular exchange but have a few things to get through first. As of right now the chain is in 'lite' mode with all masternode and devfund rewards disabled along with PrivateSend and some other wallet functionality. These will be enabled again at block 1,037,000.

The name was specifically chosen to reflect our direction which is BDNS (Blockchain DNS) and IPFS (InterPlanetary File System). There will be more announced about this in the coming weeks but if you have any questioned in the meantime its best to ask your questions in our Discord.

As posted in our #Announcements channel in Discord back in January - "The BDNS is our main focus for the upcoming period. The next next big release, v1.8, will include the BDNS and together with it we will release our browser extension. Due to the recent integration of IPFS into the Brave browser this will streamline the user experience of anyone wishing to get a feel of the decentralized web."

Still to come are our new website and browser extension, both of which are currently being developed.

The release of ADOT v1.8 has taken us to a code base that's in line with DASH and has some of the BDNS features already in place. There will be more updates to the code base in the coming months as well as the project develops.

If you held any Bitcreds on that exchange they are now converted to Alterdot. You will need to create new buy/sell orders as all the old Bitcreds orders were removed.

Upgrading to Alterdot v1.8.0 is mandatory, there are about 7 days left before the next hard fork. This version restarts Masternodes, InstantSend, Development Fund payments and the Blockchain Domain Name System, old Bitcreds versions do not re-activate them. Alterdot v1.8.0 is one of the main updates in this transition to a better, safer codebase. Masternode owners should upgrade right away, extended instructions will be coming for setup. This is a period of rapid change.

Bitcreds is now known as Alterdot! We will have a new look website, explorer and a new ticket - ADOT. We are currently in the process of migrating everything across from our old website and BCRS ticker. There is no change to the chain at all, all current Bitcreds (BCRS) addresses are still valid.

Just an FYI that due to the upcoming fork at block 1,034,000 I'm now actively banning all wallets with versions below v1.7.3 for 3 months. These banned nodes will also be included in the next bootstrap. If you haven't upgraded to v1.7.3 please do so immediately.

The next version of Bitcreds, v1.7.3 is now available for download. This is a mandatory update for all nodes as it is the first stage of our transition to an upgraded codebase from Dash and the starting point of all future things which will be built on top of our blockchain and network.

The Bitcreds network will be reduced to lite mode or core mode after block 1,034,000 through a hard fork in order to start the transition. The Development Fund and Masternodes will not be paid in the reduced state of the network, InstantSend, Mixing and PrivateSend will not work as non-core features are disabled. This lite mode will last only several thousand blocks (it starts on the 14th of June and ends two weeks later). After the hard fork block the difficulty retargeting algorithm will change from DELTA to LWMA (https://github.com/zawy12/difficulty-algorithms/issues/3) and the maximum size of data stored with OP_RETURN will increase from 80 to 160 bytes.

On the 17th of June, the anniversary of our blockchain, the upgraded wallet will be released together with the initial version of BDNS. After block 1,038,000 Masternode and Development Fund payments will resume and all non-core functionalities will be enabled, our browser extension will also be released soon after and our website will be updated together with our whole brand as I mentioned before.

Please note that mining on Linux will offer better hashrates for most processors. Also Ryzen CPUs mining on Windows with the AVX2 optimization will most probably get no advantage over non-AVX2, but this only affects Windows. On Linux everything works as expected with increases of up to 30% in hashrates for the AVX2 versions.
