You can manage multiple masternodes from a single wallet, but you will need individual daemons with unique IP addresses running on multiple vps instances.

I've been mining for like 30 min or so, but the pool doesn't show any statistics. I am on https://new.altcoinix.com/op/public/ , mining with cpu

The pool is working fine however it's more profitable to mine LTC / other scrypt coins and buy OPC on cryptopia with prices at the current levels.

This looks like it could be fun, I appreciate the "suprise!" of getting on cryptopia thanks dev.

One of the great things about alt coins is that each forms its own small community and you can be a part of the community efforts to set the vision for the coin.

I agree that the rewards for mining this coin are small... but it was launched fairly and seems to work as advertised, the source is available, so with a cool logo and nice website it might make it.

You'll need to address the naming issues with Visa for investors to feel comfortable.

It seems likely that consumers will confuse 'visacoin' epayments with other Visa epayments in the 100s of countries where VISA owns intellectual property protections.

If its confusing to the consumer it is unlikely to survive a challenge in US courts. I don't know how it works in other legal systems.

Just woke up from a nap and the pool is all good again, as the pool home page said, nothing was lost on the backend and all my hashes were counted.

I am so happy, thanks litkoin team!

Use caution with the official pool, i mined for a long time, got nothing, went to the pool to see whats up, and it says:

We are investigating issues in the backend. Your shares and hashrate are safe and we will fix things ASAP.

Findblocks disabled, new blocks will currently not show up in the frontend
Blockupdate disabled, blocks and transactions confirmations are delayed
Payouts disabled, you will not receive any coins to your offline wallet for the time being

I am not accusing anyone, I'm hoping I'll get paid eventually but... I'm not gonna mine there until I get paid for the last chunk of hash. I'll post an update when things get sorted.

Re: New marketplace - coinsmarkets.com
by
mrok
on 02/11/2017, 09:43:16 UTC
I can endorse coinsmarkets.com - I've been using it for a few months without any issues.

They are often the first exchange to add a new coin or to update when a new wallet or blockchain comes out.

They have responded promptly to every email.

Not every staking coin works (pays stakes) on coinsmarkets, for instance they have COLX but it doesn't stake there. They told me that this is because some wallets are more difficult to integrate with their scripted accounting systems for payouts on stakes.

There *are* some scam coins on the site, but they seem to care about quality. For instance they described one altcoin to me in email as being "just like all the other coins this dev makes, since nothing new here we don't want to add it."

Coins stake well because your network weight is combined with all the other coins on the exchange.

There are some funny trolls.

Their accounting system credits users for each stake reward instead of adding it all up into a single daily payment.

Overall experience B+/A-

For some reason I prefer exchanges with dodgy wierdos and coins no one will ever use. I will miss nova.

you can buy and sell yovi on other exchanges, the 6 month graph indicates it isn't "rise only" on other exchanges.

Re: [ANN] BitCurrency - BTCR - Swapping to MasterNode Chain
by
mrok
on 31/10/2017, 11:20:35 UTC
Hi Tokyo, I suggest making a road-map that only goes 6 months into the future.

Anything beyond 6 months is puffery, no one knows what the world will be like 6 months from now.

Also, re: multiple masternodes at once:

Small update on this, it seems that running start all may fix this, I have had 3 nodes running without issues now but not starting them individually. May be worth trying for others with the same trouble on multiple nodes.

It appears the wallet locks itself after the start button is clicked, per the source code in masternodemanager.cpp.

Code:
void MasternodeManager::on_startButton_clicked()
{
...
 pwalletMain->Lock();

Is there a reason this needs to happen? It seems more reasonable to only Lock() the wallet if it was locked when the method was called.  At any rate, if you want to start individual masternodes, you will need to unlock your wallet after each click of the start button.

Yep WTF this is a heartbreaker.

The crypto-currency business world is going to have lots of ups and downs as it moves out of the troublesome years of puberty and into adulthood.

Things like road-maps and whitepapers and juvenile website spelling mistakes aren't going to be the indicators of maturity. Maturity and wisdom are learned.

I learned this bit of wisdom from a successful drug dealer:  you can ALWAYS make a lot more money legally and ethically than you can make through illegal activities. The guy that taught me this (thanks alex) died of herion many years ago but it's a lesson that stuck with me.

c-cex stole coins equal to ~500,000 USD.  They could have made more than that in just trading fees over the next few years from the thousands of PIE holders.

So C-cex is apparently not to be trusted - they did a clumsy job defrauding a large and active community, so they are going to have to deal with posts like this one.

Sigh. One day the drama will end in crypto when people realize that it is in their best interest to behave ethically.

I agree about yobit, in my original post I said something too mean about them so I deleted it and just removed them from the list.

Also, breaking news - Novaexchange will close its doors on March 31, 2018.  The closure of Nova is probably unrelated to the critiques in this thread.

A Frank Discussion about Altcoin Exchanges
by
mrok
on 30/10/2017, 10:52:57 UTC
I've been involved in a couple of projects now and the question always comes up - "where should we try to get listed?"

Recently, popular alt-coin exchanges like cryptopia and novaexchange have raised their prices by thousands of dollars  (you know you are getting quality coins when only the rich can list their coins, right? lol.)

So... lets figure out which altcoin exchanges are good for new coins, or at least which of them are less sucky. In this thread, if we do it right, we will have:

Love Letters
Horror Stories
Name Dropping
Flames about how the exchanges have betrayed specific coins (e.g. Ctopia refusing to list PIEX a few months after the community paid to get PIE listed)
An evolving, useful list of exchanges that new coins should approach and exhanges to avoid

I'll start out.

Exchange: coinsmarkets.com - I know folks that really dislike this site, but I think they are pretty great.
PROS:
- Their interface is weird looking but strangely effective at getting things done w/ minimal clicking
- they stake POS coins
- they add new coins in a HURRY
- They respond to support emails
- They care about not listing coins from scammers (one email I got was "we don't want to list it because it's just like the other 10 projects from that dev" )
CONS:
- ridiculously low volume
- boring trolls
How to get listed:
email "support@coinsmarkets.com" with coin specs

Here's a list of exchanges sorted by number of coins, which may not be the best indicator for friendliness to altcoins but it's a start.

I didn't list bittrex because it's apparently "invite only" now?
I didn't list poloniex because they haven't bothered to respond to my support ticket opened on Tue, 8 Aug at 5:19 PM. (#369572).
I didn't list cryptopia or novaexchange because they are doing the "pay to play" game which (imo) rewards rich scammers and stifles innovation.

If any altcoiners have experience with these exchanges please contribute a pros and cons for them or a "personal story about what it was like to work with them" or whatever info you think people would benefit from. I'd like to focus on info that is useful for new coins that are trying to get listed but anything you can contribute is useful if we get enough data I'll make a spreadsheet on google docs for us.

So what actually happened with c-cex.com? I heard that they have millions of piex of questionable provenance and are dumping it? I hope i am misinformed - would someone with the real story pls post and tell us what is going on with them?
