Well at this chance it pretty much is about as good an investment as investing in the lottery.

Feels to me that at least they are calling it what it is, lottery and not a serious investment.

And in the meantime Australian's will just use non-Australian exchanges or Local Bitcoins ...

I `like` his statement of the threat of “tax leakage” ...

Thinking of one example recently here in Australia... Glencore making a Profit of $15 billion and not paying a single cent in tax ... that is real "tax leakage" at work without any need for bitcoins.

That's about right... last payout by middlecoin was on 12th June.

There's been two lengthy periods (according to the graph on http://www.middlecoin.com/reports/16zNicJWxCdpUTsjSQZgiwckFQso3G5EG.html) where the hashrate dropped to 0. Adds up to over two days worth!

In the end, if we want an alternative to ebay, we need to support alternative market places.

The way I deal with this, I list my items on both ebay and cryptothrift and include the a statmemnt in my ebay listings that guides people to the corresponding crypto thrift listing if they wish to use bitcoins for payment.

I am probably breaking an ebay rule somewhere  ... but I haven't been pulled up by ebay about it yet, so I keep doing it
