cpuminer and it's derivatives (including the cpuminer-gr fork) is GPL v2 licensed.

Modifying code, including the donation address is perfectly allowed. After all, thats excactly what the cpuminer-gr developer(s) did.

https://github.com/WyvernTKC/cpuminer-gr-avx2/blob/main/LICENSE

The only (marginally) infringing part is (if they did) not to include a written offer to receive the code of their patched version which alters the single line containing the donation address.

I am thinking of buying this GPU.

From what I read, if the GPU is connected directly to the motherboard, the PCI x16 plug, and has a monitor connected, mining runs smoothly. That's it?
Or is it necessary to also use such a developer driver?

The 470.05 beta driver is required. I have a 3060 and use it for octopus for the time beeing, which is non-throttled.
