Digging up my old account, to say ...

Congrats Nicehash for the full repayment following the hack!

Crypto is a very very hard place to do business... Doing "just" business is hard... But then in crypto, you have to assume all of your apps will be scrutinized by very sophisticated developers looking for a weakness... The more crypto your business holds, the more malicious brain matter will focus on you... And when they find something, they will exploit it the more efficiently possible...

And then, you get hacked for a very significant amount of BTC. But instead of just stopping business like many other have done after a hack, you decide to go on, with the extra difficulty of loss of trust by customers, and a huge debt of BTC you actually plan to repay. And after severel years, you deliver.

Big respect to you Mr Škorjanc and your colleagues that went throught this.

Mux, from your old Betarigs competitor -- 6 years already! :-)

FinalHash is the new owner of Betarigs

I am happy to announce that FinalHash is the new owner of Betarigs, and that the service will continue as usual!
Their technical expertise will keep Betarigs at the high level of stability it enjoyed so far, and they will be working soon on new updates and usability fixes!

Betarigs is now just one year old, and we worked a lot to have the best customer service possible -- and I am pretty confident the new owners will keep it as good and even better.

And again, thanks for all the kind words during this whole crazy year Grin Grin Grin

BETARIGS.COM rig rental website for sale!
by

on 23/01/2015, 20:54:32 UTC
Betarigs is for sale!

Hello!

It is almost the first anniversary of Betarigs! And during this year, we did incredibly well (IMO) : 172 000 rentals have been done through Betarigs with 15 000 registered users! With 12 000 tickets received and answered, our users were in general satisfied, with an average 9.78/10 rating given to the rentals!  Grin Grin

And so now, due to personal reasons and priorities of team members, we have decided to sell Betarigs in order to focus on our next projects.
We would like to sell it to an entity with a proven track record of being able to manage cryptocurrency services, and ideally with some technical expertise. A big pool operator would be welcome.
Here are some numbers we will disclose:

Raw income of the last months:
October : 13.8 BTC
November : 8.5 BTC
December : 20.5 BTC
January (up to 24/1) : 5.1 BTC (expecting ~8 BTC)
Server costs (5 servers + Cloudflare + tickets system + Google Apps) : a little less than 1000€/month (we use high end servers)
So you will of course have to subtract the server costs from the raw income to get the actual earnings.

Tickets : On average 14 per day on the last month.
Tickets needs to be processed every single day to process rental problems and refunds.

The sale would happen as follow:
- A invoice in euros will be sent.
- Payment to be done via either bank wire (preferably) or in Bitcoins
- The buyer is given access to the ticketing system, the admin area of Betarigs, and the existing hot wallet. We still stay admin on the website, but won't be active anymore : all tickets are to be processed by the buyer.
- The server infrastructure and setup is not to be changed for 3 months (up to end of April) and the server costs are to be paid to us (a little less than 1000€/month). The Betarigs code itself is also not to be changed for 3 months.
- In May 2015, we transfer the ownership to you. We transfer the service to other servers in your control (or we transfer you our account at the hosting provider), use another hot wallet in your control. You will then be fully in control.
- Later on, there -could- be a possibility to contract me to do some small changes to the system

Offers are to be sent to mux@betarigs.com. We will not review any offers made directly on this post, or via PM. An acceptable offer could be accepted right away. Finally, I may take some time to answer mails, but I will answer all mails.

Was there a recent db attack or  something on betarigs because my account was hacked, password changed and all the payout addresses on my rigs was changed, as a result 2 rentals payouts were stolen from me. Since then, Ive changed my password and changed the payout addresses.
Oddly enough, changing my payout addresses required email confirmation, so if this is the case, Im not sure how they were even changed to begin with. Since there were no previous requests in my email =/

Hello!

According to our logs, the payout address were confirmed via email (even twice for some of your rigs), so I have reasons to believe your email may be compromised!

Hello;

I personally tested the website submission, it does work :-)

Also, I just got a submission for the script, which I'm going to review in the next days.

mux, I've followed the instruction - so I am missing something I guess. What are the step-by-step installation on a new unix box (with composer already installed) ? - thanks -- no hurry as I am using my own scripts for now, but i'd like to give this a go someday.

Re!

Well, I basically followed the instructions in the README at https://github.com/betarigs/betarigs-manager, and it proved to be sufficient. Can you tell me at which step you are having problems?
For composer, if you don't have it, you can
Code:
curl -sS https://getcomposer.org/installer | php

Rhaaa too bad i've just started a dev this afternoon.
50% is done  Undecided

I wanted to provide reals CLI binaries (*nix, windows, MacOs) with zero dependencies  (unlike script which needs an interpreter) made with Go.
A screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibwtfq74mx5afts/Capture%20d%E2%80%99%C3%A9cran%202014-07-03%20%C3%A0%2020.11.50.png

Ping me if the script submitted will not pass your review, i'll will continue my dev.

For info i'have made an other tool some weeks ago which automatically adjusts rig rental prices :
https://github.com/Toorop/betarigs-autoprice

Hello!

Sorry for the delay, a long weekend was inbetween!
I like what I'm seeing at first glance on this screenshot! (Plus it's made in Go! And plus you made a lib for Go :-) )
Please continue your work, and if both of your scripts are good, I'm going to add a secondary bounty for the one not being the best! Then we'll have one in Python and one in Go!

Hello!

Indeed, the website would take more time than the script -- but we are expecting only a raw admin form; not a fancy website with external users and so on :-)
On the other hand, the script should only take a few hundreds lines; this one should be quite easy ;-)

Betarigs Dual API Programming Challenge -- 2 BTC Bounty total!

[BOUNTY AWARDED]Betarigs API Programming Challenge number 1 : Mass rental script -- 1 BTC Bounty!
Winner: https://github.com/Toorop/betarigs-autorent

1 BTC will be awarded to the submitted script selected by Betarigs that:
1/ Work on all OSes (Win/Mac/Linux) on the command line.
2/ Use Betarigs and Coinbase API (whose API keys will be stored either in a config file, or in the script itself)
3/ Takes as input:
 - An target amount of Mh/s to rent
 - A mining algorithm (X11, Scrypt, ...)
 - A maximum price in BTC/Mh/day of the rigs to rent
 - A given duration in hours (to be taken in the list of available Betarigs durations; so all rigs would be rented for that duration)
 - A target pool URL, worker name and worker password
4/ Have the following behavior:
 - The script will use the Betarigs API to create rentals up to the target amount of Mh/s to rent (unless the maximum price in BTC/Mh/day is reached)
 - The script will then use the Coinbase API to pay for these rentals (use the "idem" parameter on the Coinbase payment API to prevent double payments!!!)
 - The script will then, without waiting for the payment to be confirmed by Betarigs, put the pool infos (URL, worker name, password) on the created rentals
5/ As output, the script will have launched and paid mining rentals based on the input parameters.
6/ The script must be sufficiently verbose to inform what it is doing.
7/ The script must have a dry-run mode: It would be an option that, if used, will simulate the rental creation and payment, but not actually do it.
8/ The script will have to handle all the error scenarios (no more rentals under the specified price, rig got rented by someone else, Coinbase API returning an error ("You are sending too fast, wait a bit"), ...)
9/ The submission of participants will be assessed on the forum thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434464.0 ; and any feedback by Betarigs about bugs/missing features will be posted on this forum.
10/ The resulting script will have to be open-source, and hosted on Github.
11/ The actual winner will be assessed by the Betarigs team. Code quality, proper output, handling of errors, fullfillment of requirements, will be criterias used to determine a winner. There is no time limit, a winner can be designated as soon as a proper script is created.

[BOUNTY AWARDED] Betarigs API Programming Challenge number 2 : Mass rental website -- 1 BTC Bounty!
Winner: https://github.com/sathoro/betarigs-manager

1 BTC will be awarded to the submitted website selected by Betarigs that:
1/ Use PHP as a language. The full project needs to be fully in PHP. A Symfony 2 setup with bundles will be strongly preferred.
2/ Use Betarigs and Coinbase API (whose API keys will be stored in a config file)
3/ Takes as input, in a form in a web page:
 - An target amount of Mh/s to rent
 - A mining algorithm (X11, Scrypt, ...)
 - A maximum price in BTC/Mh/day of the rigs to rent
 - A given duration in hours (to be taken in the list of available Betarigs durations; so all rigs would be rented for that duration)
 - A target pool URL, worker name and worker password
4/ Have the following behavior:

 - The website will then, without waiting for the payment to be confirmed by Betarigs, put the pool infos (URL, worker name, password) on the created rentals
5/ As output, the web page will have launched and paid mining rentals based on the input parameters.
6/ The web page should display the various actions taken as a result of the form submission (which rigs were rented, etc)
7/ The website must have a dry-run mode: It would be an option that, if used, will simulate the rental creation and payment, but not actually do it.
8/ The web page should then be able to display the status of the currently rented rigs, and to mass update their pool credentials.
9/ The web page will have to handle all the error scenarios (no more rentals under the specified price, rig got rented by someone else, Coinbase API returning an error ("You are sending too fast, wait a bit"), ...)
10/ The submission of participants will be assessed on the forum thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434464.0 ; and any feedback by Betarigs about bugs/missing features will be posted on this forum.
11/ The resulting website will have to be open-source, and hosted on Github.
12/ The website code will have to work standalone (i.e. only a database connection, and a composer install will be needed).
13/ The website will NOT need to work for external visitors. The website will primarily need to work for his owner, the admin. (Of course, it's a big bonus if it works for external visitors, but that's a much larger work, so it's not required)
14/ The actual winner will be assessed by the Betarigs team. Website aestetics, reusability, code quality, proper output, handling of errors, fullfillment of requirements, will be criterias used to determine a winner. There is no time limit, a winner can be designated as soon as a proper website is created.

Good luck!

API: You can now create rentals and manage them via the API!
See https://www.betarigs.com/documentation/api/

Betarigs Mobile - app for users of Betraigs.com. Simple access to Betarigs API. List of algorithms, available rigs, list of your or favorite rigs.

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.grinet.betarigsmobile

That's awesome, thanks!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to launch it on my phone; it fails on launch (Android 4.4.3 here).

Anyone else logged a ticket and not heard back? I'm assuming i logged it early hours of the morning for Mux... Anyone know what time they usually address tickets?
Cheers
Rob

All tickets are processed within 24 hours max. 3500 tickets has already been processed since the launch of Betarigs ealier this year.

Anyone else logged a ticket and not heard back? ....

YES!

All tickets until today have been answered, and the only ticket I have found under your name has been answered within 12 hours.

OFFICIAL SITE UPDATE

We are back to normal!

Basically, since yesterday evening, there was a bug that would prevent the rigs that had ended their rental to become available for renting again. On top of that, this was making the website slow on certain pages.
RIGS NEVER MINED MORE THAN WHAT THE CUSTOMER BOUGHT. Even if it was written "ends in a few moment", the rig did end the mining.

At 18:10 UTC today, we are back to normal, finished rentals have been marked as finished on the frontend, and the website is fast again.

At Betarigs, we are far than enough server resources to handle 10 times the amount of rigs we currently are handling. This issue was unrelated to a server being overloaded, this was an unfortunate bug that made the website not being updated correctly and slowing it down.

Sorry for this!

Cheers,
Mux

A follow up question, how do I know if my rig is in Top 30 or Top 10? Do the math on the fee % or is there any other way to check?
Also, is it Top 30/10 based on the feedback score or the number of rentals as well? For example, my rig is 9.95/10 with over 80 rentals, would it be rated lower than a rig with just one 10/10 rental?

I've just added the rig ranking on the "own rigs" page -- you'll see it there when your rig is not rented!
The top 30/10 is based on the total length of rentals that got a feedback. So 8 times 3 hours rentals that are rated equals 1 time 24 hours rental that is rated.

Hi
I'm new to mining. Since I have no miners (and can't afford one  Cheesy ), I'm trying to rent rigs thanks to BetaRigs.
I've found rigs with 200Gh/s that I've rented for 12 hours for a start.
The rig was good and the charts for this one were around 200Gh/s as advertised.
But evidently, I've mined nothing...

My question: What is the minimum in term of Gh/s, time rent on the rigs, to hope at least a "blank" operation (you mine as much as you invest). My objective is not to get rich with mining but supporting the p2pool network. If I can get just a few mBits, I would be happy  Wink

Many of our customers are users that speculate on the value of a newly-launched coin, which hasn't yet a price, or have a price that makes it really profitable to mine -- may I recommend you to check https://ipominer.com/ ?
