Just curious, have folks started getting their DRK deposits cleared into cryptsy without problems?

I wonder how mamy thousands dark waiting to be deposited to cryptsy. Them fuckers selling their coins first. As soon as those deposits are cleared we might see a dump I'm afraid.
What are you talking about?

I had a deposit clear in the last hour just fine, no abnormal delay

lol The rise of the DRK price based on minor news - nonesense

I believe this bamp made by team of Darkcoin becoz they afraid of Blocknet innovation and trying draw the market attention to gain some time.

The price of DRK is extremly overheated and very very risky.
Dammit you caught us!

But seriously, if you honestly believe that anyone is remotely scared of blocknet (or has even heard of it!) you are deluding yourself by being in an echo chamber which is that bct forum topic.

That being said, I do agree buying DRK when you posted was risky, but it has cooled off a bit now, and I speculate there is a bit more cooling off to do before the price stabilizes between 80 and 90. Depending on how many large players decide to take profits, the price likely will fall to 75, but I seriously doubt (baring new news) 75 will be broken through.

Just wondering.... When can I expect my MN IP address to be hidden?   DRK is attracting a ton of attention right now and I would feel a bunch safer if the world (NSA) wasn't looking at my MN IP address.   I don't want to end up on some watch list somewhere........
Well given you posted this it's far too late...

For anyone who's interested, a sneak peak at the next release of Darkcoin:

TLDR:

- Next release will go out in the next two days probably, I'm going with the community and calling it "The Onyx Release"
- It features mandatory, non-exploitable Masternode payments.
- Masternode payments are completely predictable now. I.e., if there's 2000 masternodes you can expect 1 payment every 4 days (divide the amount of nodes by the blocks per day to get your ROI).
- Masternode payments will go to 25% one week from release (non-manditory)
- Afterwards I encourage the community to find the pools still paying 20% and contact them to make sure they update their stratum before it's too late
- Masternode payments beyond that will increase to 30% in November, 35% in December and continue on until we get at least 3000 masternodes.
- Huge security updates to Darksend. It's much more robust and can take a beating.

How does the payouts work for new nodes coming online? They won't need to catch up to existing payouts, right?

Also interested in how this is done!

Even if there isn't a minimum 'age' for MNs to start receiving payments, I think the system will be pretty hard to game - you can't launch a thousand MNs without a million DRK, after all.

It's a true proof-of-service setup now. Each new node has a 1 in N (total number of masternodes) chance of receiving a payment each block. After a payment, they must wait N blocks to receive another one (give or take 10%). There's no room for gaming the system because it's using math based off of the proof-of-work to prove the node won, plus you'd have to wait 15 confirmations each time you moved money around and that takes from your profit too.

What do you mean there is no room for gaming the system?

Scenario: 3000 masternodes exist, I have 1. After 500 blocks, I get my payment. At this point I wouldn't be eligible for another payment for 2500 blocks. However, I could send the coins to a new address and restart the masternode, and once its confirmed I'm eligible again immediately, this time it takes say 2000 blocks, but after I do the same, new node. And finally a third time I get my payment after 1000 blocks.

Summary: 3500 blocks have been found. I have gotten 3 payments. Ideally, I should have only gotten 1 payment in this time - 3 would require 9000 blocks.

What am I missing?

Statistically they won't fare any better, actually a bit worse:

Code:

from random import randint

s = []

while True:
for i in range(1, 10000): #10000 blocks
if randint(1, 1001) == 1000: #1 in 1000 chance each block
print i+15 #requires 15 confirmations
s.append(i+15)  #keep track
break

if len(s) > 1000: break #if we have 1000 simulated results, lets add them up

total = 0
count = 0
for a in s:
total += a
count += 1.0

print total / count

On average, it's about 1015 (1 in N, N=1000, plus 15 required confirmations) which is a tad worse then they'd make just by collecting the earnings

EDIT: There might be a bias to the newer node based on the fact that the algorithm is skipping nodes that don't qualify. Whenever it hits the newer node it would automatically qualify. In that case I could just introduce a greater minimum amount of confirmations before a payment to cancel out the bias.
The code you posted isn't how it actually will function though (in my understanding). If MN X is started now (block 100) and gets paid two blocks later (block 102) - they aren't eligible for another payment until block 1102 (masternode count=1000). However if they just restarted their node to a different address, they are potentially going to get a payment as early as block 117.

What's the best (in terms of security, resources usage, etc) in order to run a MN: buying a separate PC to run a masternode or run it from your daily used PC?
Neither - running it on your daily PC is horribly dumb, and buying a separate PC doesn't make economic sense (hardware + electricity + etc) - you want to rent a server. $5 / month

Hi,

I am the one that sold 9000 DRK yesterday. I will tell you the reason why. It was on an irritation because of this insidious spammer and his lottery that surfaced in the past few days. Yesterday every two seconds this shithead appeared bumping his garbage lottery under the thinly disguised pretense of doing good for DRK, when in fact all it is doing is lining his own pocket. If you look at the numbers you can see what he is in for. More importantly his syrupy disingenuous facade reminded me of the con artists that run amok on the DOGE forums gushing and cooing and wooing their naive that participate in that coin with all sorts of slimy extraction tactics to separate those fools from their coins. This shithead yesterday was all over this forum bumping his junk lottery every two seconds, then has the unmitigated gal to request for donations to pay for his across the US vacation. He slipped that request in cunningly after copy and pasting his intention to promote bitcoin first with the added in brackets suggestion the trip could promote DRK as well. Not less than an hour later he resurfaces with cap in hand trying to extricate DRK donations for it.  He's nothing more than a repulsive smooth talking con-artist. Because of this and because it reminded me of the scum that inhabit the DOGE community it made me second think about continuing to hold DRK. If this is the direction it is taking I have no interest. The anonymity of the coin in this single foolish endeavor compromises the user that bought into his self interest scheme. Your IP and address are forever intertwined. This slithery shithead gave me pause for thought as to what exactly is going on with DRK. And that is nothing. Once the con-artists surface and capitalize on the dedicated believers, it is time to move on.

Be aware, I will be dumping a further 5000 coins later today or tomorrow.

More interestingly to me is my overall portfolio read yesterday before getting rid of the coins @ 30,000 USD, today it reads @ 55,000 USD.

Hugs,
_sciencerocket@

Thank god your dumping - I don't want someone who knows so little about how darkcoin works to hold that much.

(I don't disagree with the first half of your post about the lottery bullshit, that was and is toxic - but as for IP and address being linked, that is for countless reasons a non-issue.)

About Mintpal: I had some nice trading these 2 days, made some 40% +. It is slow but improving, now accepts orders much better. And it is BOT-FREE ( like good old days) and fee-free. After all delays I am trading there now, sick of bots everywhere
Bots are not a bad thing. Sure, someone like you can't profit the same way, but you're only profiting from an inefficient marketplace - something that never lasts and is naive to think or want it to.

For everyone else, arbitrage bots are what keeps prices consistent between exchanges and severely increases liquidity.

Finally, my balances showed up  Cheesy .
I succeded with the withdrawal and should give 'em some time to fix the glitches.
Also hadn't any issues with 2FA.

So you got coins out to your own wallet?
I just withdrew funds without any issues.

Now I'm missing two bitcoin deposits still, but that is another issue entirely.

You withdrew from Mintpal successfully?
Yep! It was way quicker than before too.

Dang, I am waiting hours for mine.
Hmmm, maybe contact support? I just withdrew a much larger amount than the first and once I clicked the link in the confirmation email, it wasn't more than 1 minute before I got a desktop notification saying the amount was transferred.

If you don't mind me asking. How big of an amount did you withdraw? I'm wondering if smaller withdrawal amounts are having success versus bigger one's because apparently I'm still 'awaiting confirmation' from a link emailed to me which points me nowhere.
It's incompetent shit like this which is why I'll never use MintPal again. To hell with their extra liquidity in DRK; this isn't worth it.
I withdrew about 1000 DRK over 5 withdrawals. My first was 50, then a couple withdrawals 300-400, then 3 smaller ones to clean out the account.

I hadn't decided if I wanted to leave a little bit in the account for potential arbitrage opportunities - which I why I had 5 withdrawals - but I agree with you, their incompetence is absolutely absurd.  Without major changes I refuse to let them touch any of my money. Hopefully I can get the 1 BTC I deposited but didn't confirm when they had shutdown v1.

Relax Dude
evan has NOT even said anything yet

you get your little firework
just chill for a bit !

It is looking good on mintpal low sell wall all the way up to .0088 but really who would be willing to sell this early in the scheme of things.

Umm, walls at 80 and 83...

hmm some dumping.. i think some whales are flexing their muscles..

edit : minor whales so far.. Smiley
Possibly people reading the twitters who said open source has happened already, and are selling because the price hasn't moved yet in response to the thing that hasn't happened yet.

Open source hasn't happened till we get an announcement from Evan to that effect. There's just a suggestively named git commit been made, and some testing going on.
That isn't true. At all.

It is open source - look at the commit... yes, there hasn't been an announcement, but the commit you're referring is it. It has all of the source in it - and it is fantastic.

While enjoying that the price is going up again, why not also enjoying the DarkCoin Orchestral Anthem, especially composed for the DRK:

https://soundcloud.com/tcherkin/darkcoin-orchestral-anthem-short-version

Or maybe listen to the whole "The Order of the Dark Coin" - Orchestral Suite:

https://soundcloud.com/tcherkin/the-order-of-the-dark-coin-orchestral-suite

If you enjoy this music, feel free to download it and use it to all projects concerning DarkCoin

I also appreciate your DRK donations here: XiG7xsjFrAwtk3iAmxgapycErnErLCxuJQ

Thanks! Smiley

tcherkin created a magnificent orchestral anthem for darkcoin. The short version is only 36 seconds, so it's not too intrusive for the darkcoin.io website. It would be great to hear that anthem when you open the darkcoin.io website. It gives the website that little extra edge/push. What are your thoughts on this?

Absolute not. No sound on webpages. Those are the pages that many people won't bother with due to the annoyance factor.

That's like an unspoken rule to never load sound files on webpages unless asked.
Absolutely. If a webpage does it I close it immediately.

Adding sound should not even be considered.

Ohh things are moving now. Had never anonymized on mainnet before. It's pretty sexy.

Yeah, mainnet anonymization is on fire. This is the fastest I've ever seen it go. Doing 8 rounds in a hour or two is awesome.
You continue to impress me! The network seems to be working wonderfully and anonymization is just working, period.
