Do you mean the nicehash miner or the nicehash pool?
I use the pool because it is easier to just get paid in btc, even if they pay a little less, getting payed in other coin and then converting it to btc takes some fees anyways.
I don't use their miner to mine, but I do use their legacy miner to do benchmarks.

Miner works 5-6 minutes, then crashes at the same settings with ewbf. Gtx 1080x8

This is most likely due to overclocking. You have to readjust it - zm puts a different load on your GPUs.
but ewbf working with this settings. if I slow down, there is no reason to use dtms

I had to lower my clocks just a little bit but its still faster than ewbf, test it out.

Hey, testing this for a few minutes on Windows 10 fall creators update, with an 1060 6g at 2088MHz core and 9100MHz memory and 387.92 drivers, I get an average of 349 Sol/s, pretty good (I get around 335 with ewbf's)

Try a system restore to the last date your system was working.

Remember that the h/s you see in whattomine is probably lower than what you can get with an OCed card and a new miner. It shows 270 in equihash for a 1060 when I'm getting around 335.

Make sure you don't have a temperature limit linked to your tdp limit.

You already got your answer. $50 a year. It is up to you to say if that is worth it or not.
Keep in mind that laptops have a much harder time dealing with temperatures, it might be a wiser idea to sell that laptop and try to get a real card for a desktop pc. Even a relatively cheap 1060 can make you around $40 a month before electricity.

every satoshi matters

Even with free electricity, an 8500gt would give you pretty much nothing, like 1 cent a month (pulling the numers out of my ass, but still)
edit: damn I didn't realize this was a necroed thread.

Re: GPU mining profitability

Hey

Just launched my first rig using 3xRX570 and 3xRX580, ASUS Z270-P mobo and a 1200 Corsair PSU.

Am actually @ 146MH/s and 1300W from the wall, does this seems correct ?
Am mining ETH on nanopool and through my first 2 days, the nanopool's calculator is telling me i'll get 0.712 ETH at the end of the month, that's 155€, it's too low for a 2600€ investmend, ROI can be non achievable at all.

Please help me if am getting something wrond ...

Thanks

First off, you should be using around 800w  +-  just from the gpus, i dont know how is your psu 1200w and ur using 1300w from the wall  Huh

and that is all you can get (maybe a bit more with some tweaking) with this rig, profitability right now is not what it used to be 3-4 months back..

A PSU with 90% eff will draw 1300w from the wall to supply 1170w, that's what efficiency means.

With that cpu you should have 4 threads enabled and set affinity for cores 0, 2, 4 and 6.
edit: or was it cores 1, 3, 5 and 7? check both.

Re: Nvidia 1060 vs 1070 vs 1080 vs 1080Ti
by
naykos
on 06/09/2017, 02:45:56 UTC
1080 is no good

On equihash
1060 270/sec
1070 430/sec
1080 ti  635/sec

On amazon current prices
1060 $300
1070. $500
1080 ti $750

Rate / price
1060 .90
1070 .86
1080ti  .85

Assuming the above are correct the 1080ti is the best bang for the buck.

You also have to consider what scale you are going to mine on. Motherboards, power supplies, risers, etc are not cheap. One rig with six 1080ti would certainly be more cost effective than building two rigs with six 1060.

Where are you getting 270/sec for the 1060? Mine does 300-310 at "stock" (they oc automatically) and 335-345 oced
