What's it going to be July 9th, 10th or 11th

When I started this pool price was sitting right about $13 and figured a small group of people might like to get in the action without too much risk. I cringed when the price rocketed to over a grand and made my initial seed bet worth more than $5k. Seeing as there where no takers I'm going to keep watching just to see which address would have won and how far the difficulty adjustments moved the halvening time frame.

I want to ask if you will change the price if the exchange rate USD/BTC will be growing or falling for bitcoin? Thanks.

I've still been trying to decide that. It is still under priced for bitcoin for that reason but if the 5 bitcoin price exceeds $3K I might just cancel the sale.

97 Honda Shadow VT600CD VLX Delux
New tires both front and rear
600cc 19,000 miles

My regular sell value is $3000 but I'm deeply discounting it to 5 Bitcoin to try and get it sold.
Motor cycle is located in Colorado Springs, CO
Here is the craigslist ad that I have for it http://cosprings.craigslist.org/mcy/4185058467.html

If anything bitcoin helps stop the scammers in their tracks. This is a transcript of an SMS conversation I had with one.

Them: hi,did you post the 97 Honda VT600CD Shadow VLX, bitcoin payment (Colorado Springs) 12:47 AM
Me: Yes it is still available 6:04 AM
Them: how long have you had it and whats your asking price 9:54 AM
Me: I've had it about 6 years the sell price value is $3000, but I've steeply discounted that for 5 Bitcoins which is about 2 grand. 9:59 AM
Them: i am okay with the price but you know i will still handle the picking up which will still cost me some amount..what can you do for me about the price 10:13 AM
Me: Sorry but the Bitcoin price is firm as its already deeply discounted 10:17 AM
Them: so how much is the bottom price? 12:23 PM
Me: 5 Bitcoins 12:23 PM
Them: do you have a google wallet account? 12:24 PM
Me: Bitcoin does not require Google wallet I have a payment address 12:31 PM
Them: how about paypal? 12:32 PM
Me: Bitcoin does not require paypal either 12:35 PM[/8]

The part in red revealed the possibility that this is a scammer coupled with their attempts to get me to accept alternate forms of payment.
After the last SMS I haven't heard back from them.

Oh I meant bets, but timezone is irrelevant, whatever the time stamp says on block 420,000

The time stamp is a number. A timezone is needed to convert a number to a date.

Ok if you want to argue semantics, the time stamp is a UNIX time code which corresponds to Coordinated Universal Time (also known as Zulu time if you are in the Navy) which is largely aligned with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). So that is the time zone.

Betting pool for next halving day
by
nayrB16
on 28/11/2012, 17:19:24 UTC
In celebration for halving day I am starting a betting pool for the next halving day due sometime about 2016.

You can place your bet to the corresponding address which the first bits mark the day. Link to addresses here.
ex. 1JANo4DVNbTu6eX1dic5HMKyevuSJeY7KK equals Jan 4th.
     1oCTo3o8dmvAGkjwzC4iws3rbNp6JcxaG equals Oct 3rd

Payouts will be made to betting addresses that paid into the winning address proportional to the size of the placed bet (-10% for pool operation). Don't lose your private keys, as payouts will only be kicked back to same address!

All bets will be swept into the primary betting pool address which is already seeded with 5btc
1HY8GtxdWuYXBoU8eRZWupBnLEbmXEG9gs

As a contributer to the pool, my payment of 5btc will be factored into reward payout against all betting addresses until pool reward has doubled i.e. reward is 10btc or higher. e.x That way no one can pay 0.001btc on all 366 address and collect the full reward of 5btc with a bet of 0.336btc spread across the pool.

Betting Ends November 30 2015

This is a 4 year long gambling stake patience is required.

edit. If total of all bets do not equal 5btc or more (to match original stake) by Nov 2015, the game will be scrubbed and all deposits returned.

I only voted yes, because I hope down the road they will use a higher bit hash algorithm such as SHA 512 or if one comes along 1024. Not to undermine ASICS and FPGA's, or upset the decentralized balance of mining but to increase the key space for private keys and bitcoin addresses to make it even harder to brute force someones address, because 40 quadrillion years is to damn short!

Reward decrees in late november?
by
nayrB16
on 22/09/2012, 16:28:52 UTC
I'm going out on a limb with this one and say we will reach the 210k block and reward decrease to 25btc around November 20th

on average over the last year 166 blocks are solved a day instead of the usual 144 (This is why the difficulty has been skyrocketing)

right know the block count is 200036. If given the same average we should reach the 210k blocks in ~59 days or somewhere around November 20th

Thoughts?
