By this you mean another pump?

The price drop
by
neopharma
on 22/06/2016, 07:16:26 UTC
Hello, guys!
The price has dropped by almost 100$ and I am wondering if anyone can properly explain why this happened.
As far as I know, the following things happened:
1. The DAO got robbed - improper term, as this was done using the tools that came with it.
2. Bitfinex was down 3 times yesterday.
3. The Chinese have been pumping over the past 2 weeks. Have they decided to make a profit now?

Is there anything else that contributed to this drop? Can you explain this in layman terms?
Thanks for the time.

Well, I see people have explained the difference very well, so I won't make you read it all again.
I'll just add this: the best idea is to keep away from both. Not worth your time.

You should know that faucets are a waste of time and, unless someone else pays for your electricity, you will not make a profit. You will actually lose money, as the income is less than the electricity and food cost. Actually, income from faucets is less than what you would pay for 2 meals per day.
They are ok if you just want to get some dust in your wallet and figure out how to send btc from one wallet to another, but other than that...

IMHO, you are better off studying and getting the most you can out of your time in uni; the difference between the wage from a job you can get after you get a bachelor's and the wage you can get without a bachelor's is more than you would make in 5 months on faucets.

You can try to hit the services section in the market on this forum and check out reddit.com/r/jobs4bitcoins, xbtfreelancer, freelancer.co.uk. If you have a skill set that people need, then you will get paid decently for that.

thank you for all your replies and taking the time to write them.
I have tried out some of the ones you guys suggested and I have to say I really like electrum and I also downloaded bitcoin core and am running a node whenever I can. If you guys want to take some pressure off my electricity bills, all tips are welcome.

For my hotwallet, I will keep using mycelium, but I will use a paper wallet for storing large amounts. Thanks a lot for the info, it's been incredibly useful.
these links contain some very useful info:

For those too lazy to read the entire thing (I can relate), here it is broken down into easy steps:
  • To generate a new bitcoin address, open BitAddress.org in your browser (or LiteAddress.org for litecoin).
BitAddress (but not LiteAddress) will ask you to create some randomness by either randomly typing characters into the form or moving your cursor around.
You will be presented with your public and private keys and their respective QR codes. Do not scan these.
    Click the ‘Paper wallet’ tab.
Select the number of addresses to generate.
If you don’t wish to keep the bitcoin artwork, click the ‘Hide art?’ button.
Click the ‘Generate’ button to create new wallets.
Once the wallets are generated, click the ‘Print’ button to make a hard copy.
Your browser will ask you to select the printer you wish to use. In the case of Google Chrome, you may also save the page as a PDF file.
Make a note of the public addresses, or scan the public address QR code in your bitcoin (or litecoin) app and start depositing funds.

Hope this helps Cheesy

cică l-au făcut să nu poată kgb-ul să citească mesajele. Nu e degeaba, în orice caz.
Au și un bot care funcționează ca wallet.

The problem with this is, not all my friends are Bitcoiners and you have to be a Bitcoiner to pay for this service.. right? I can contact complete strangers on WhatsApp, without the need to download or

to install any App or pay for these services in Bitcoin. It would be cool if we could find a App like this, where you could send small amounts of Bitcoin over WhatsApp or some instant messaging service.

I only know about something similar, like  http://getgems.org/ where you get rewarded to chat with your friends.  Roll Eyes

You do need to install Wapp Cheesy
The service is not paid for, it comes with the program.

If you like to meet new people in the crypto space then there are a lot of projects which have a telegram group you can join.

This is better in my opinion than asking here random people for getting in contact with you.
Hello!
I already have the service and I am in a number of groups, I was just trying to see if there are people here that use it and, if so, would you guys like to create a group dedicated for this forum?
It would be nice to also chat with you in real time Cheesy

The big problem with bots like this and changetip on reddit is that the owner can run away with all the Bitcoins at any time. They will get tempted once the balance gets really high, especially if the owner is anonymous.

but the owner of telegram is not anonymous. I don't know about the owner of the bot, though - but I will look it up when I'm on the desktop. And you don't have to keep a lot of money in the wallet, I only keep about 5 usd for tips on it. There are a lot people in bitcoin groups there that have helped me  and it's nice to show a small token of appreciation

The idea of bitcoin bots for such programs is interesting, but unfortunately, it never takes off until the leading platform accepts it natively. Hopefully, whatsapp will accept Bitcoin natively in the future, I think it will eventually happen once its more mainstream.

yes, a bitcoin service on wapp woul be even better, but telegram only resembles wapp. As far as functionality and utility go, telegram is much more advanced.

Yes, it is different from wapp, I just said they look a lot like one another. And it is true that a lot of people from Russia use it - it was created so that the kgb can't hack it. But there are also a lot of people from the usa, the uk, germany, romania, even kenya. It is really nice because you can also create groups and there are many groups related to Bitcoin.

i know that there are local bitcoins groups, like bitcoin romania or bitcoin de, but also international chats, like a group with people from reddit /r/bitcoin or /r/whalepool. Maybe if people that post here form a telegram group, some questions will be answered immediately and there will be less spam. It's always nice to have someone answer your question when you ask it and not have to wait for reply.

Hei!
do you guys use telegram and it's telebit service?
I really like telegram - it kind of looks like Wapp, but it has all these cool bots that give it so much functionality and a lot of the people interested in Bitcoin use it.
among the bots is @bitcoinwalletbot, which acts as a wallet and you can send directly to user names or to bitcoin wallet addresses.
There are other cool bots, too, but I thought this one might interest you.

if you want to talk to me on telegram, look for @nadir9922. I always like to meet new people.

Hey guys!
I'm not completely new, but I still have much to learn.
What is, in your opinion, the best wallet to use?
I currently use mycelium for android and greenaddress for my desktop.
What do you guys use and why is it better in your opinion?
different coin using different wallet:)

I'm sorry, I meant wallet for Bitcoin. I don't use altcoins yet.
