Re: CRITICAL WALLET UPDATE AVAILABLE
by
netpeak
on 31/07/2018, 11:44:57 UTC
WE'VE JUST RELEASED A NEW CRITICAL UPDATE WITH SOME NICE FEATURES AS WELL, V0.3.11 - UPDATE REQUIRED THIS WEEK BEFORE BLOCK 96480 / NEXT HALVING
1. This release fixes the infamous segfault issue that sometimes stops a miner with a segfault and core dump at random times.
2. This release fixes an issue with the PoS algorithm that could allow someone to improve their odds in an unintended way. To the best of our knowledge, our discovery on this has never been exploited, and will not be an issue after block 96480. This is a change to the PoS algorithm, which is why it is a mandatory update. If you do not update by the next halving at block 96480, you will not be able to get to the chain until you do.
3. This  release also integrates the latest core Agama changes, including the fixes for the breaking changes that were made to Electrum servers for other Komodo family coins that support SPV/lite mode. The core Agama changes also include a feature to hide sensitive data on the screen for screen shots.
4. Finally, this release enables easy adding of an encrypted memo to private transactions from Agama with Verus. This feature works to send, but we don't consider it complete, because while you can add the memo, you can't yet easily read memos sent to you. You can send messages with a zero amount, but you will still be charged a fee of 0.0001 VRSC. The ability to retrieve memos sent to you currently requires the command line use of "z_listaddresses", "z_listreceivedbyaddress", and hex conversion, or you can wait for a later update, knowing that the memos are there to see at that time.
You can download the latest builds at https://veruscoin.io.

Please make sure to back up your wallet.dat before updating, just as a standard precaution that is likely unnecessary, delete the existing  App install folder, not the VRSC folder and  no other folders, then install and run the update.

Stop by our discord for the latest: Discord: https://discord.gg/VRKMP2S

What's the most efficient way to get notified about client updates asap, especially mandatory ones ? My client did not inform me.

Thanks and all the best for the project!

I'm with Genesis Mining since they started, never missed a payment, always on time unless they announced the delays.
For me, they are the best cloud mining website, and i think the only legit and real one!
If you have your doubts about them, believe me, they are real and legit!

I am customer from day one, Payments are like promise everyday. To bad there are no contracts to buy right now.

I am a customer form day two, and payouts ceased several times, contracts died. It's only profitable if you're part of the MLM.

btw: no response from customer service to comment on the data leak

Long time since I posted in this thread, so a quick little update, maybe it helps some newbies looking for information about this company:

I bought some contracts in 2015 and 2016. It's very simple, had I just bought and held my BTC I had made much much more. I barely made my ROI with GM before the contracts stopped. I believe most people who make a decent profit with GM are those who are able to get a lot of affiliates. So it would be very interesting to know how much of their operation is MLM. Exceptions are those who happen to buy a contract just at the right time, e.g. ETH when it first launched, but this is not much different from investing in the right coin at the right time.

I came here today because customer data of Genesis mining has been leaked. And since I do not get a statement from GM after having contacted them, I post this publicly.

A unique email address that I exclusively used for my Genesis Mining account is now used for Telegram ICO SPAM mails.

Stay away and hold your BTC, much better profit than investing in cloud ming.

Hi, I like to add my experience to those who posted theirs before me, and I hope a lot of newbies / wanna-be-investors read this:

I knew it was risky when I bought my first contract with GM. During the first year I bought 4 upgrades. And because I like risk, and nobody knew what would happen after the halving, I spent another 0.03 btc on 0.1 THash/s BTC mining exactly 4 weeks ago.

All that money got burned, I did not arrive at ROI, my daily payouts dropped to 7000 Satoshis, according to GM support that's from 2 remaining contracts with 0.255 TH.

So if price and difficulty would stay the same, I would ROI those last spent 0.03 Bitcoin in 428 days ... lol  Smiley Shocked  I will post again in 428 days if this stupid thing is still running, but I wouldn't bet a penny on it.

It has all been said before me, so I like to repeat and encourage every newcomer: buy Bitcoins directly, even if it's just for 5 or 10 Dollar every month, and you will make A HELL LOT MORE money than investing in Genesis Mining. Investing $10 every month in Bitcoin for the last year would have made you about $240 if you sold now.

Protect and hodl your Bitcoins!

lol, my worst 'investment' of all times, better buy and hodl

http://[Suspicious link removed]/borp736

*Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob es OK ist, hier Stream-Links zu Posten. Wenn nicht PN an mich und ich entferne den Link.

Muss mal kurz diesen Post abstauben *hust* ....

Deutsche Synchron Fassung:
Alicia: " Ich habe einen Bitcoin gekauft. Fuehlt sich nicht echt an."
Mr. Bitcoin : "Was ist echt, was ist unecht ? Passen Sie auf sich auf. " Smiley lol

In diesem Sinne: Frohes neues +1000 Bitcoin Jahr 2017

lol, laughing about myself, because I can't believe I was so stupid to "invest" here. I have decided to revisit this thread from time to time and leave a post for new "investors". Don't go there, or you will loose your money. Buy and hold Bitcoin, and you will make profit. My last "investment" at Genesis Mining was a contract I bought 1 week before the halving. This is the only "lifetime" contract (out of 5 I bought) that still pays out, all others were cancelled. So I have a "passive income" of 0.00020000 BTC being send to me every 4 days. lol

I compared this last contract with the new one from today. It looks like the conditions of the contract of an upgrade I'd buy today are the very same. So if I buy another contract of 0.1 TH today, would I also receive 0.00020000 BTC every 4 days ? lol

sorry for the double post. For the record, I paste GM's answer that I received after I asked them why my payouts dropped by 85 % after the halving:

Quote
On Saturday, July 9th 2016 the so called halving took place on bitcoin, meaning, the reward that bitcoin miners will receive was cut in half.

The details about the halving can be read here for example:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-halving-blockchain-mining-000000868.html
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Controlled_supply
It lies within the algorithm of Bitcoin, so unfortunately nothing can be done from Genesis Mining side to help you.

Discussions about the halving where online month ago as can be seen here on these links on well known forums and chats like reddit and bitcointalk:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1216445.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1428863.0
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3q59uu/9_months_until_block_reward_halving/

With signing your contract, you agreed also you know the nature, and this includes also the halving, of Bitcoin.
"THE CUSTOMER REPRESENTS AND WARRANTS TO THE SERVICE PROVIDER THAT HE IS FAMILIAR WITH MINING, CRYPTOCURRENCIES AND BITCOIN IN PARTICULAR AND THAT HE UNDERSTANDS THE NATURE AND USES OF MINING CRYPTOCURRENCIES AND BITCOIN. " as stated in chapter 7. Representations and Warranties of your agreement.

This means also, the the hashpower you purchased with us is mining more than 50% less than on friday.
Why more than 50%?. Because we, as usual have to deduct the maintenance fee from the original earning and this means more than 50% less payouts.

Due to that fact, your earnings per day became less than the maintenance fee (USD 0.00099 per GHs/day) your contracts became unprofitable. Those were a lifetime contracts, but they run for as long as payouts are profitable. We deduct a daily maintenance fee from the generated coins that covers all ongoing costs like electricity costs, cooling, maintenance work and hosting services. If the ongoing costs exceed the mined coins, there is no point in mining anymore - since you as a customer would have to pay more for the mining than you actually get out of it. We don't charge you for this difference. However it is economically reasonable to stop the mining if it is clear that this difference does not become positive again. This is why according to the contract you agreed on chapter 4 we have the right to terminate the contracts after 20 consecutive days of negative payouts.

All the payouts and the deduction of fees can be recalculated at the independent site coinwarz.com:
Please set as usual the Watts to 0 as well the $/kWh.
We are just providing the hashpower you ordered and do not provide any estimates, expectations and calculations on ROI.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Genesis Mining

The amount of dust (8000 satoshis each day) I am getting from GM is undesirable and clogging up my wallet. The outgoing transaction fees are so high that it eats up any incoming funds from GM

Should I change my receiving wallet address to a blockchain.info wallet address to beat the dusting fees?

Yep, that's what I did. Lowest fee I am able to set is 4000 sat when sending around $1 worth of dust.

can anybody give some advice on the following problem ?

I invested only small amounts in GM over the last 7 months, so I received lots of small payouts with amounts between 0.00020000 btc and 0.00080000 btc . Now, trying to move funds from the web wallet I used to collect them results in ridiculously high transaction fees. I am in contact with the wallet provider but also like to ask you cloudminers here how you handle your payouts. Is anybody experiencing similar problems when moving funds from an address with let's say 170 inputs ?

After noticing the issue I immediately created a new address and repeated this twice during the last month. Trying to move the funds with those 30 inputs also results in a large transaction, hence high transaction fees.

How do you guys handle lots of small inputs from your mining payouts ?

Well, as I wrote before inside my account all traces of the link to my Coinbase wallet have disappeared, in addition to an unannounced change of destination wallet for the interest payouts.

As a consequence I withdrew all my funds, and am honestly very relieved that transaction has been confirmed.

The partnership with Coinbase was the only reason I trusted Bsave. Even if it may be a bit childish, I thought the link with CB would be some kind of endorsement of the legitimacy of their business. The above mentioned changes without any notification
to users is reason enough for me to worry about the safety of my bitcoins and to send them back to cold storage.

Better bsafe than sorry.

I did the same

May I ask; what was the fee they charged you to withdraw ?

It seems as though they can now deposit interest into the BSave acct, as my earned Bits are showing up in BSave acct (so compounding should be happening)

MY AVERAGE DAILY RETURN
0.008 %
MY EXPECTED YEARLY RETURN
2.90 %
YESTERDAY BSAVE DAILY RETURN
0.012 %

Seems legit (so far)

I've noticed that too yesterday. It seems they implemented compounding in the last two days, which is great.
Though without notifying users, which in my opinion is not so great.

I am also missing the link to my coinbase account. Has this partnership ended ?

My average daily return
0.007 %
My expected yearly return
2.39 %
Yesterday BSAVE Daily return
0.012 %

Hi, I have an account at bsave since end of November and want to share my experience:

their support is very responsive, I have contacted them a few times and they always answered quickly, very friendly and gave detailed answers to my questions.

The user account has a simple, very clear and not too detailed interface, which I like a lot. Other options  than deposit and withdraw do not exist.

You can deposit funds directly from your coinbase account or to a Bitcoin address.
Withdrawing is only possible to your Coinbase wallet .

Since I opened my account I've never seen the interface showing a higher  "expected yearly return" than 2.5 %, most of the times a lower rate is shown. Like the CEO here, their support is mentioning yearly interest rates above 3 %, so far I cannot confirm this.

My average daily return
0.006 %
My expected yearly return
2.26 %
Yesterday BSAVE Daily return
0.005 %

Payouts are paid regularly   as promised every day.

What is missing is the option to accumulate payouts into the bsave savings account so one can benefit from compounded interest. It struggles me why this option is still not available.

Here's an answer from bsave that I received when asking about the low interest rate and compared bsave with Magnr.com:

Quote
Indeed, we are planning to provide interest compounding feature to our customers. It is in development.

Regarding Magnr and from an humble perspective, we think our Saving account is more powerful on every level:

-Rate: BSAVE pays a floating rate each day, since we started BSAVE has paid an average of 3.9% APR, Magnr guarantee 2.35% APR.
-Frequency of Payment: Magnr pays once a month, BSAVE pays every day.
-Financial Penalty: Magnr  pays 0 interest if you withdraw your money during the monthly period. BSAVE pays the exact time you saved (each minute is taken into account)
-Ease of use: BSave is directly integrated to coinbase wallet, Magnr impose to open an account with them (new username, new password...)

Quote
-You are using BSave since the 30 of November. Each BSaver has his own profile of risk depending of when he saved with us. So your expected yearly return reflects the average rate in the period: 30 of November until the 10 of December.

In this period, the rate has been relatively low compared to the beginning of November when we were able to pay up to 18% APR on some particular days due to the volatility in the market.

Since we started the 3rd of September, I can confirm an average APR of 3,87%.

Cheers
