Back to normal rise? last hours looks like panic from both bulls and bears.  Grin

The only people panicking are those who are using leverage or haven't bought in yet Smiley

The rest of us are enjoying the show.

I am hodling right now and I can say that I'm not even sweating much here unlike others who are hesitant to enter the market. Hodl what you think you can hodl and what you can in your heart!

Following this strategy for many happy years now  Grin

Look at all these shorters losing their shirts talking about MtGox coins LOL.  If MtGox coins are auctioned off, it would be 56 million at current price to many different bidders, not one party.  Sounds higher than your paycheck, but BitFury alone is building a 100 million dollar mining facility right now, so not exactly a big deal.  That and you have billions in VC investment in 2015 alone:

http://insidebitcoins.com/news/bitcoin-venture-capital-funding-pace-1-billion-2015/30665

It's clear that the price per coin is highly lagged behind everything else going on, and these entities can all easily pump it higher, they're just waiting till they accumulate most of them first (i.e. after the 25coin halving since 70% are already mined).

I support this statement, organic growth of nearly every parameter is in the books.

precipitous dump

Or a low volume dump. Of course you'll get a pullback after a big price rise, every time. There's overarching supply to be worked out of the market because of profit taking. Once it's all absorbed, whoosh back up we go. Look at the volume compared to similar moves to the left and it will give you an idea of how much gasoline is behind it.

BC, your posts are appreciated, sometimes important to readjust sea clutter.

Re: Why are no anonymous altcoins being widely utilized?

Titan is not "fully anonymous" it is just stealth addresses, which an automated way of not reusing addresses. Every transaction is fully traceable, just like Bitcoin.

How are they traceable?

There is no ambiguity as to source or destination at all. If you send me a coin I can see where that coin came from and where it came from before that. Likewise if I send you a coin I can see when and where you spent. If I've ever dealt with those people (or do in the future) I will likely see the relevant connections as coins are combined and change is returned. If I happen to be a large economic actor such as an exchange, payment processor, etc. I may well have dealt with a huge number of participants and be able to identify many of them.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread on bitsharestalk or whatever your forum is called where bytemaster explains this and acknowledges that TITAN isn't really intended as a full anonymity solution but more of user-friendly incremental improvement over reused addresses. I've seen that thread before but I couldn't find it just now.

You are right:

I suppose if you treat Bitcoin as a mere asset, it's easy to think of it as some kind of tradeable commodity, rather than disruptive technology. Bitcoin the disruptive technology is much more than bitcoins, the commodity though.

If Bitcoin were an enterprise, its IPO would still be years away. Of course the charts look ugly compared established commodities like metals, agricultural products or foreign currencies, or publicly traded shares of the kind of established businesses whose shares are already traded on exchanges. The wild "bubble"-like price fluctuations are typical of new enterprises still in the domain of angels and VCs. By the time most new endeavors reach the point of public offerings, the bumps have been smoothed out.

This.
Much more than Bitcoin, so holding Bitcoin is like an investment in this new kind of "enterprise", hardly comparable to anything before.

Re: MtGox wires ARE delayed
by

Some information to bring more light in the dark:

During the last month I made 4 withdrawals (wire) to my account (Switzerland). Also done before without issues. All 4 amounts went through and were credited on my account as usual, about two weeks ago. Therefore I was appreciating the service provided by Mt. Gox.

Yesterday I got a phone call from my local bank, stating that they didn`t get the clearance from the correspondent banks reagarding the $$ transfer. The money went back to Mt. Gox. So these amounts could not be credited any longer and got cancelled.

It seems to be an issue of the international banks involved, below the original text from my bank, saying that the 4 amounts are returned from Citibank to JP Morgan Chase (Mt. Gox) due to internal guidelines. They are waiting for my instructions in which way Mt. Gox will send the money again.

Quote

The infos I got from Gox support:

Quote
Hello, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Our bank is facing few issues sending the transactions to the Citibank accounts. Our bank is trying to resolve this issue and we are also working on few alternatives. The funds once cancelled will be sent back to the MT Gox account and I will keep you updated on this.

The same day, some hours later, Gox "Statement Regarding Temporary Hiatus on U.S. Dollar Withdrawals" followed. Consistent as far as only $$ transfers are affected.

Looking like big US players are blocking $$ transfer. We are not really surprised, aren`t we ? Hope Mt. Gox will find solutions to circumvent the hiatus. It would be interesting what Citibanks "internal guidelines" are stating.

Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP.
by
neuronics
on 11/04/2013, 07:54:55 UTC
Bitcoin's percentage move action today is ultra bullish for the medium long term. (I wish I wasn't writing this because it is my best rational analysis of markets but the absolute figures involved conjure up emotions and make it sound like pumping and bubble-licious talk ... but some people might like to hear it.)

I thought I was dreaming when I saw the stilletto it painted at $25-20 correction (25% stilletto in matter of minutes) and thought to myself this sucker is going to $50 maybe $75 or higher ... then it did the same thing again when it touched $50 for first time and retreated to $36 (25%) and then bounced back in next to no time ...  these stilletto patterns all the way are evidence of more money waiting to get in basically "buying the dips" analysis but a little more sophisticated analysis of post dip action ... it is not the collapse that is the tell it is all in the bounce back and follow through. Sawtooth trading analysis is something very similar from commodities bull runs that uses similar patterns.

Now, today it just dropped from $260 to ~$110 and is bouncing back by almost 80-100% off the low ... this is a mother-of-all stilletto pattern that has got my hands shaking. We could easily be going north of $1000 in the medium term and bodes for higher again in the longer term.

Very informative and enlightening, thank you.
