and then it will go back down to a steady 400 - 450
Just me speculating here.
500 is not even 100% that not a real bubble, the lst ath was a rally bubble, the new bubble must confirm a new ath to be called so otherwise i would just call it a pump
still it will be tough to match the last ath by the look of how the thing are going
In 2013, the top of the price was about 12 times of the starting price. If the new bubble starts from $230, 12 times of that is $2760.
I believe that governments are afraid of the bitcoin because for one they don't have any control over it, plus the things that you buy with bitcoin, you don't pay taxes over it, thus the governments doesn't make any money of off it.
In my country, when I buy goods with bitcoin, I pay tax (VAT) on the goods with bitcoin. The retailer will pay fiat to the government instead of bitcoin.

It is better not to be a day trader. 90% of day trader will lose money. One reason is that the trading cost fees. The second reason you cannot sell at the top and buy at the bottom most of the time.

EU should ban USD if it is serious about cracking down on terror money. It should also ban oil import from Saudi as IS is supported by several entities there. There are some reports about this.

Re: 2016, The Year of Bitcoin?

There are quite a few new start-ups established in 2015. They can show some of their products in 2016 after one year development. The halving can also push the price higher.
If Bitcoins aren't 100K in 10 years I'll be too depressed to do anything with my life. It's pretty much my only chance at early retirement. Also my only chance to hope that when im old I will have money because I think society is going to collapse and the state will not be able to pay pensioners.
If you want to retire in 10 years, you need to buy about 20 bitcoins at least to have a comfortable retirement life. There is a thread about how many bitcoin you need when you retire.
If I had to choice I still would go for Gold. Gold has been there for decades and already a reliable investment. Bitcoin is still too unpredictable. Maybe the potential of Bitcoin is much bigger but it's also still more risky.
Gold is very established. Many people use it as hedge against inflation for centuries. Bitcoin is too young. No more than 10 million knows about it.
The last pump of the price was a good chance for new people to use bitcoin, but now that the price is much more down this makes people to think to quit, sadly.
The price is up or down all the time. Some people will buy, some will sell. There is no difference. The most important is the adoption of the bitcoin.
nobody can sure. i don't really believe BTC is gonna back to $250, even though if it come true, it would not be too long. china is gonna raise BTC again if it is affordable enough to them.
yeah and when BTC back to $250 we should be quite happy to buy and hold some bitcoin. because I am sure This will not last long and we will go up to $500
If the price goes down to $250 or lower, it is a good buying opportunity. Bitcoin is more popular day after day. More people are aware of that. It is becoming a money.

Re: Is Selling Bitcoins on LocalBitcoins.com Legal?
Paypal will freeze your account and take your money it is against their TOS. Other methods depend on how much you trade (same rules as fiat)
Google search the story about guys being arrested by the FBI after meeting through Localbitcoins. ..and WHY
edit: ya the guy above me has it right LOL
If you just buy or sell small amount of bitcoin in localbitcoin.com, it is fine. Do not do too much trading there. I think if you just buy bitcoin from others, you do not need a money transmitter license.
thats really good imo, im also just getting started with bitcoin and currently only have like 0.05 but soon ill get upto the high numbers.
you're definitely on the good path.
Hello I can see that you are earning with signature campaign do you earn your 0.05 with it?
It is quite difficult for a new full member to earn 0.05 bitcoin by writing posts. The rates for a full member is only 0.0005 per post, for a junior member is only 0.00025 per post.

The next peak will be around $650-750. Then the price will come down to $450 to consolidate. The price rise could be due to block chain size agreement.

Re: Gemini in the Top 10 list.

Somebody put in a order to buy up to $220 yesterday, but he put in $2200 instead mistakenly. The execution was reversed soon after.
The requirements for mining are always rising and will rise as long as the difficulty keeps climbing... So yeah, if you want to stay competitive you must have ASIC's and quite a few of them.
A Chinese mining farm would help, but you can profit with much less if you have cheap electricity
This is a good point. Mining is centralizing. Input costs are not more important than ever if you want a real ROI.
The electricity price is most important of all. If you have free/low cost electricity, your miner is still profitable while others are out of money. You can also buy the very cheap old generation miners and still make money.
All those people in China who bought Bitcoins for yuan will be selling them for dollars and euros.
Does anyone track cash withdrawals from USD and EUR exchanges? There should be an outflow.
Do you have any evidence about transferring the bitcoin to exchanges outside China and cash out in those exchanges? Chinese own most of the newly mined bitcoins.

Most people do not accept new things straight away. It will take time for most people to move to bitcoin and use it for daily purchase. It may take decades for bitcoin to be widely accepted currency.
